Thomas Thelmar Lindsey, Jr., age 79, 0f 9341 Durham Road, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Roxboro Nursing Center. He was born in Gaston County and was the son of the late Thomas Thelmar Lindsey, Sr., and Ruby Elliott Lindsey. He was married to his beloved wife June Jones Lindsey, for 45 years. He was self-employed as a merchant. He was a charter member of Gateway Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, June Jones Lindsey of the home; one sister, Carolyn Lindsey Jewell of Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Gateway Baptist Church by the Rev. Ken Childers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday at Gateway Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Ronald Ellis Dunkley Sr.

Ronald Ellis Dunkley, Sr., 66, of 7720 Dirgie Mine Rd., Roxboro, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Born in Person County, Mr. Dunkley was the son of the late Ellis and Agnes Harris Dunkley. Mr. Dunkley retired from the US Postal Service and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and he enjoyed farming.
Mr. Dunkley is survived by his wife, Lois Long Dunkley; one daughter, Shannon Dunkley, of Roxboro; one son, Ronald "Ron" Ellis Dunkley, Jr., and wife Lynn, of Roxboro; one step-son, David Walker, of Roxboro; one step-daughter, Beverly Wilborn, of Roxboro; two brothers, Donnie Dunkley and wife Rozelyn, of Henderson, and Shaub Dunkley, of Candler; one sister, Ruth Clayton and husband Edward, of Cary; three grandchildren, Jessica Turner, Dustin Turner and Harley Dunkley; three step-grandchildren, Candice Carver, Christina Walker and Justin Walker; one step-great-grandchild, Casen Martin.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday at Olive Branch Baptist Church by the Dr. Victor Blackwell and the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-2 PM at Olive Branch Baptist Church.

Michael Wayne Childress Sr.

Michael Wayne Childress, Sr., age 41, of 123 My Country Rd., died Friday, September 10, 2010 at his home. Born in Durham County, he is the son of Roy Childress, Jr. and Joyce Porterfield. He is the grandson Beulah Jones and the late Robert Tyndall. He is also preceded in death by his uncle David Tyndall. Mr. Childress was the owner and operator of M&K; Landscaping. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Lenard Childress of the home; three daughters, Beverly Childress of Roxboro, Kimberly Forrester and husband Joe of Hillsborough, Melody Johnston and husband Jonathan of Burlington; two son, Michael Childress, Jr. of Roxboro, and Kevin Childress of Roxboro; one sister Buffy Jenkins and husband John Jr., of Timberlake; one brother Randy Childress of Roxboro; three half sisters; three half brothers; three grandchildren, Jordan Forrester, Jesse Forrester, and Colton Johnston; two nieces, Kristie and Nicole Jenkins; one aunt; two uncles.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at his home at 123 My Country Rd. Roxboro. The Rev. Ken Childers will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Monday September 13, 2010 at his home.

Elizabeth Clayton Aiken

Elizabeth Clayton Aiken, age 91, formerly of 1308 Bacon Rd., died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Person Memorial Hospital. She was currently a resident at Roxboro Nursing Center. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Born in Person County, she was the wife of the late W.D. Aiken and also preceded in death by her son, Jimmy D. Aiken.
Surviving are her daughter Wanda Jo Aiken, granddaughter Carmen Elizabeth Carden and great-granddaughter Savannah Davis. Also surviving are sister Frances Mangum, sister in law, Odele Clayton and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Brooks & White Chapel. She will be honored to have Rev. Dr. M. David Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the Aiken-Blaylock Cemetery on County Line Rd., Rougemont.
Pallbearers will be Marty Cash, Randy Cash, David Hester, Billy Johnson, Layton Oakley, Wesley Davis and Dee Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be Edison Aiken, Bob Aiken, Maylon Mangum, Pee Wee Harris, Joe Johnson and Wayne Gentry.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6-8 PM at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home of her dear friends Randy and Debby Cash at 205 Frank Timberlake Rd., Timberlake, NC.

Essie Mae Tingen Rhew

Essie Mae Tingen Rhew, age 76, of 40 Herbert Hill Dr., died Saturday September 25, 2010 at her home. Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Ira Cleveland Tingen and Corrina Morton Tingen. She was also the wife of the late Daniel Ruffin Rhew. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Durell Tingen, Robert Tingen, Wallace Tingen, Willie Tingen, Lawrence Tingen, I.C. Tingen, and John Tingen, as well as one sister, Isabel Oliver. Mrs. Rhew had worked as a counter clerk at the Person County Farm Service Agency (ASCS Office). She was a Charter Member of Somerset Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Chambers and husband Carl of Roxboro, and Tracy Rhew of Lavergne, TN, and one sister, Patsy T. Fox of Roxboro.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday September 27, 2010 at the Somerset Baptist Church. The Rev. Troy Rust and Rev. Bob Baynard will be officiating. Burial will follow at Person Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Fox, Steve Tingen, Ray Tingen, Bert Fox, Kevin Martin, Jeff Oliver, Elwood Holt, and Tim Holt.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday September 26, 2010 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Judith Ann Horton Coleman

Judith Horton Coleman, 64, of 6563 Hwy 158 East, Leasburg, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Person Memorial Hospital. Born in Person County, Mrs. Coleman was the daughter of the late Ira Douglas and Verna Chandler Horton. Mrs. Coleman retired from G.E. and was a member of Leasburg United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Coleman is survived by her Husband, Robert W. Coleman of Leasburg; two Sons, Berkley J. Coleman of Yanceyville and Michael Ray Coleman of Leasburg; two brothers, Douglas Chandler "DC" Horton, of Roxboro and Randy Horton, of Greenville; four grandchildren, Tyler Coleman, Anna Coleman, Zachary Coleman and Ethan Coleman.
A memorial service will be held 3 PM, Sunday, Leasburg United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve Hall. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Leasburg Community Cemetery.
