Violet Virginia Breeze

Violet Virginia Breeze, 92, of Hurdle Mills, died Sunday, April 17, 2016. Born in Person County, Ms. Breeze was the daughter of the late William Asial and Mamie Bradsher Breeze. She was a homemaker and a member of Five Forks Baptist Church. Ms. Breeze was the person who kept the extended family connected. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Waddell, Melvin, Maurice, and Russell Breeze and her sisters, Ivaline Blaylock, Josephine Clayton and Norma Jean Gray.
Ms. Breeze is survived by her brother, Jimmy Breeze, of Hurdle Mills; her sisters, Margaret Loftis, of Timberlake, Bernease Foushee, of Hurdle Mills and Betty Hearn, of Bartow, FL; and two special nieces, Robin Coleman, of Rougemont and Hope Breeze, of Durham.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Wheeler's Primitive Baptist Church by the Rev. John Pritchard.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.

Shelba Ann Perkins Nickell
Born: 05/30/1960 Durham County, NC
Died: 04/14/2016 and resided in Timberlake, NC
Shelba Ann Perkins Nickell, 55, of 855 Miller Rd., died Thursday, April 14, 2016. Born in Durham County, Mrs. Nickell was the daughter of the late Margot Schubert Oakley and mother of the late Zachary Lee Nickell. Mrs. Nickell served as a catering director in Houston, TX, Carbondale, IL, Tallahassee, FL and Magnolia, AR before returning home to be closer to her family by working at Croasdaile Country Club. She was an avid Duke fan.
Mrs. Nickell is survived by her brother, Russell Perkins, Jr., of Aurora; four sisters, Linda Smith and husband Bill, of Durham, Carolyn Blalock, of Timberlake, Barbara Cash, of Cary, and Donna Priddy, of Timberlake; eleven nieces and nephews, Christi, Brian, Leslie, Charles, Scott, Lisa, Justin, Becky, Nicole, Shelley and Richard, Jr; twenty-three great-nieces and nephews and three great-great-nieces and nephews.
Per Mrs. Nickell's wishes there will be no services at this time but there will be a private celebration of her life at a later date.

Margaret Frances Clayton Oakley

Died: 04/11/2016 and resided in Roxboro, NC
Margaret Frances Clayton Oakley, 85, went home to be with her Lord on April 11, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Katie Coates Clayton. Mrs. Oakley was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church. She loved bluegrass and gospel music, cooking, and her family. Also, she loved all the staff at Roxboro Nursing Center, especially Mrs. Brenda, and the staff of Cambridge Hills.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oakley was also preceded in death by her husband, Leb Oakley, one daughter, Mrs. Janice Dunn, one brother, Mr. Aubrey Clayton; and one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Duncan.
She is survived by a son, Arnold Oakley and wife Joyce, of Roxboro; one sister, Mrs. Pattie Sue Ward Miller, of Greensboro; nine grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 12:45-1:45 PM Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Brooks and White Chapel with the service following at 2:00 PM with Dr. Larry Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Cemetery. The family will also receive friends at the home of her son, 495 Stories Creek Road.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dwayne Dunn, Jeremy Dunn, Brandon Dunn, Dustin Dunn, Phillip Oakley, Nicholas Oakley, and Jonathan Poole. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.

Anthony "Tony" H. Horner
Died: 03/21/2016
Anthony "Tony" H. Horner, 57, formerly of Roxboro died Monday, March 21, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Marcella Hazel Horner. Mr. Horner grew up in the Bushy Fork Community and graduated from Person High School in 1976 and then attended NC State University. He was a loving father and enjoyed reading, riding his motorcycle and spending time with friends. He was self employed, building and remodeling residential and commercial properties. His kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all.
Mr. Horner is survived by his children, Taylor Horner, of Williamsburg, VA and Sarah Horner, of Roxboro; and his brother, Rusty Horner, of Hillsborough.
A memorial service will be held 1 PM Saturday at the Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. John Pritchard. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends after the service at 3416 Morton Pulliam Rd., Roxboro.
Bruce Howard Hall

Died: 03/23/2016 and resided in Timberlake, NC
Bruce Howard Hall, 61, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016. He was born in Harrison County, WV to the late Howard Wilson Hall and Rachel Marie Hayes Hall Hines, who survives. Mr. Hall was also preceded in death by his step-father, Samuel Hines, Jr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane Wheeler Hall, of the home; two children, Kristin Hall Allen and husband Jeremy, of Timberlake and Andrew Morgan Hall, of Timberlake; one step-brother, Samuel Hines, III and wife Carol, of KS; five step-sisters, Patty Hines, of VA, Peggy Hines, of VA, Theresa Miller and husband Mark, of OH, Wendy Hines, of WV, and Molly Blair, and husband David of CO; and two grandchildren, Braden Allen and Camden Allen.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 28, 2016 at Ca-Vel Baptist Church by Rev. Richard Long officiating. Visitation will follow after the service.

Elsie Powell Fitz

Elsie Powell Fitz, 87, of Roxboro, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Mrs. Fitz was born in Person County, to the late Ozzie Beam and Magdalene Riggan Powell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Fitz and her daughter, Pamela Fitz Gentry. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Mrs. Fitz is survived by her two children: Vickey F. Whitfield and husband, Coleman, and Taylor Fitz and wife, Joan both of Roxboro; seven sisters: Gracie Fletcher of Columbia, SC, Luna Clark of Lugoff, SC, Janie Carver and Lucille Denny both of Richmond, VA, Alice Chambers of Rocky Mount, Shirley Sneed and Joan Hester both of Oxford; six grandchildren: Billy Gentry, Tonya Long, Nicole Horner, Brian Whitfield, Taylor Lee Fitz, and Sidney Lane Fitz; ten great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held prior to the service (10:00-11:00 AM) at the Brooks & White Chapel. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Coleman and Vickey Whitfield and Taylor and Joan Fitz.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Brooks & White Chapel by the Dr. M. David Chambers. A private burial will follow the service.
Pallbearers will be Brian Whitfield, Randy Horner, Nick Clayton, Adam Clayton, Billy Gentry, and Matt Denny.
