Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Covington Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Perry Gainey officiating. Burial will be in Saron Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Mecklenburg County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and retired from Capel Inc.

LAKELAND, Fla. - Elie A. Roberson, 65, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Fla.
A graveside service was 11 a.m. Monday at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
He was a native of Washington, a graduate of Washington High School, a retired service technician with Piedmont Natural Gas, Asheboro, after 25 years and attended Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeland, Fla. He was employed with Publix, Lakeland, Fla., as a refrigeration technician, was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran after 23 years, a captain in the Civil Air Patrol and a licensed private pilot.
Surviving are wife, Suzanne Roberson of Lakeland, Fla.; sons, Tommy Roberson of Lynchburg, Va., Henry Roberson of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Rosa Lee Oldham of Greensboro, Addie G. Moore of Grifton, Mary E. Lykens of Sanford, Fla.; one grandchild.

Myrtle Hall Dorsett, 61, of 1781 Manorview Road, Asheboro, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Community General Hospital, Thomasville.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Lee Lautenschleger officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Cemetery, Thomasville.
She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker and a member of Gospel Missionary Baptist Church.

DENTON - Fay Garner Harris, 80, of 4514 Dunbar Bridge Road, Farmer Community near Asheboro, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Farmer Baptist Church, where she was a charter member, with the Rev. Jeff Lamb and the Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was the widow of Charlie L. Harris and a retired teacher's assistant with Farmer Elementary School.

Dr. Rubin F. Maness
GOLDSBORO - Dr. Rubin Franklin Maness, 48, of 111 Walnut Creek Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Charles Morrison and the Rev. Bob Bame officiating. A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Greensboro.
He was a native of Greensboro, a pediatrician with Goldsboro Pediatrics, a 1972 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a 1976 honor graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his M.D. degree. He completed his residency at N.C. Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill and the Pediatric Allergy Elective at Duke University Medical Center. He was certified with the American Board of Pediatrics, the N.C. Department of Human Resources as a Child Medical Examiner, and the Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He was a member of the Wayne County Medical Society, the N.C. Medical Society, the N.C. Pediatric Society, Floyd W. Denny Pediatric Society and the N.C. Thoracic Society. He was on the medical staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for the University of North Carolina and the American Board of Pediatrics. He was a member of the Board of Directors, Tar River Region of the American Lung Association and the American Lung Association of North Carolina; co-medical director of Camp Challenge, a state Asthma Camp, where he was full-time resident physician for the camp; vice president of the American Lung Association; president of the American Lung Association of North Carolina; chairman of the Joint ALANC-N.C. Thoracic Society Asthma Committee; representative to the Board of Directors of the National Consortium on Children's Asthma Camps and a consultant to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and Regional Liaison Physician for the National Asthma Education & Prevention Program. He received the American Pediatrics Special Achievement Award and Volunteer of the Year from the American Lung Association of North Carolina.
Surviving are wife, Mary Setzer Maness; daughters, Erin Elizabeth Maness, Megan Fleming Maness, both of Goldsboro, Riley Cathleen Maness of the home; son, Jonathan Robbins Maness of the home; sisters, Delores M. Denton, Linda M. Mooth, both of Greensboro; brother, Riley Colon Maness, Jr. of Greensboro.

She was a 1934 graduate of Greensboro College, the widow of L. Howard Johnson Sr., a teacher at Thomasville, Liberty and Eastern Randolph Schools for 38 years and a Sunday School teacher at her church.
Surviving are sons, L. Howard Johnson Jr., James E. Johnson, both of Liberty; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
