She was a native of Guilford County, retired from J.P. Stevens Inc. and a member of Level Cross United Methodist Church.
Surviving are sisters, Virginia Routh of Liberty, Rebecca Wood of Franklinville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

SILER CITY - Bertene Stout Dixon, 75, of 101 E. College St., died Friday, March 5, 1999, at Chatham Hospital.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Brian Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Chatham Memorial Park.
She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Dewey Dixon and a member of the Esther Sunday School Class and the Peacock Mission Group at her church.
Surviving are sons, Warren Dixon of Liberty, Kerry Dixon of Julian; sisters, Esta Brewer of Siler City, Dora Ellen Wells of Forest City; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Chatham County, a U.S. Army veteran and employee of Carolina Lace Company.

He was a native of Stanley County, a professional boxer for several years, served on the police forces of Asheboro and Troy and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
