HIGH POINT - Essie Jewel Potter Carter, 88, of the Presbyterian Home, High Point, and formerly of Chadbourn, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, in High Point Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Asheboro, where she was a member, with the Rev. Russ Ward officiating. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
She was the widow of Charles Henry Carter and a former member of the Chadbourn Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, Sunday School teacher and received a Life Membership. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Maids and Matrons, retired from the Columbus County Board of Education and Columbus County Hospital, where she was volunteer coordinator.
Surviving are son, Charles H. Carter of Peachtree City, Ga.; daughter, Pat C. Derrick of Asheboro; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren.

Queen Victoria "Vickie" Hinshaw Lambe, 88, died Monday, March 15, 1999, at Clapp's Convalescent Home in Asheboro.

She was a native of Central Falls, the widow of Weldon D. Wilson and W. Guy Lambe and retired from Acme McCrary after 20 years.
Surviving are sons, John L. Wilson of Appomattox, Va., Thomas P. Wilson of Winter Garden, Fla., Roy L. Wilson of Asheboro; daughter, Gladys W. Trotter of Asheboro; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Margaret Wright Cox, 76, formerly of 1315 Old Farmer Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oaklawn Cemetery, with Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating.
She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Bossong Hosiery and attended Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are brother, Willie Wright of Asheboro; sister, Barbara Shea of Asheboro.

Michael F. Spann
Michael F. "Mike" Spann, 88, of Asheboro, died Monday, March 15, 1999, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. John S. Rogers and the Rev. Mark Hall officiating.
He was a native of Homestead, Pa., a graduate of Davis Elkins College, did postgraduate work at Slippery Rock State Teachers College in Pennsylvania and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a captain in the National Guard, played for the Detroit Lions, was a high school football and basketball coach and high school and community college teacher. He worked previously for Burlington Industries and was retired from Balfour Socks, Asheboro, as a public relations director. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Sunday School class and the choir, was a past member and president of the Civitan Club and was the first chairman of the Asheboro-Randolph Vocational Advisory Council.
Surviving are wife, Frances Bennett Spann of Asheboro; sons, Mike F. Spann Jr. of Charlotte, Robert B. Spann of Greensboro; daughter, Michele S. Steams of Burlington; brother, Joe Spann of Baden, Pa.; sisters, Veronica Joy of Mars, Pa., Ann Verosko of Gainesville, Va.; six grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home immediately following the service.
