SILER CITY - Charles Bingham Snipes, 71, of 303 W. Dolphin St., died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, Burlington.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Siler City Chapel, where he was a member, with the Rev. Tommy Steele Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

He was a retired equipment specialist for the Civil Service Department.

Surviving are wife, Clarine Snipes of Siler City; daughters, Karen S. Kallstrom of Bowling Green, Ky., Melinda S. Stowe of Rochester, N.Y.; sons, Charles B. Snipes II and Jeff L. Snipes, both of Siler City; brother, Jack G. Snipes of Portsmouth, Va.; six grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Randall H. Parks
SILER CITY - Randall Hayworth Parks, 81, of 709 E. 3rd St., died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Sunrise Care Facilities, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Brian Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

He was the widower of Martha Lee Parks.

Surviving are son, Randall L. Parks of Siler City; brothers, Fields Parks and Marshall Parks, both of Loris, S.C., H.C. Parks Jr. of Julian; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of the son, 414 Greenhill Drive, Siler City.

Linda J. Nunez
Linda Jean Nunez, 44, of 1977 Lakeview Road, Asheboro, died Monday, April 5, 1999, in Asheboro.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was a native of Mecklenburg County and formerly employed with Klaussner Furniture.

Surviving are husband, Alberto Azamar Nunez; mother, Mary Ann Birckley.

RAMSEUR - Fleta Hill Kivett, 89, of 1323 W. Ridge St., died Sunday, April 4,1999, at Sunrise Care & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Justus McKeel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Grant Kivett and retired from Columbia Mfg.

Surviving are son, W. Everette Kivett of Peru, N.Y.; daughters, Frances K. Fields of Virginia Beach, Va., Lillie Kinney of Ramseur; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

RANDLEMAN - Barbara H. Derstein, 68, of Randleman, formerly of Christiana, Pa., died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at her home.

A private funeral service will be Thursday at Brown and Shivery Funeral Home, Christiana, Pa., with the Rev. Gary M. Jacabella officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery, Gap, Pa.

She was a native of Wilkes Barre, Pa., the widow of Clarence B. Derstein, a former member of Christiana United Methodist Church and a store manager for the former Pottery in Gap, Pa.

Surviving are son, Marcus B. Ide III of Columbia, Md.; brother, Clive D. Hope of Ocean City, N.J.; two grandchildren.

James A. Mashburn
LONG BEACH - James Arthur "Jimbo" Mashburn, 74, of 5721 Oak Island Drive, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Home, Southport, with the Rev. Michael Ward officiating. A graveside service will be noon Friday at Southside Cemetery, Troy.

He was a native of Troy, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, retired sales manager in the lumber and plywood business in Charlotte, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a member of Troy United Methodist Church, a former member of the Troy Lions Club and the owner/operator of Jimbo's Beach Mart in Long Beach.

Surviving are wife, Kathryn Allen Mashburn of the home; sons, James Arthur Mashburn Jr. of Long Beach, Timothy Wallace Mashburn of Supply, David Anderson Mashburn and Jeffrey Allen Mashburn, both of Huntersville; daughter, Kathryn Patricia M. Capps of Charlotte; sister, Doris Rodney of St. Michael's, Md.; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He was a native of Mexico and employed with Ramtex.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Hope United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. J. Harold Hammond and the Rev. Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County and retired from G.L. Commercial Sewing.

Surviving are sons, William Tillman Shaw and Robert Lee Shaw, both of Asheboro, Joseph Ray Shaw of Trinity; sisters, Margaret Beaman of Denton, Georgia Lamb of High Point, Lena Cecil of Garner; brother, Milton Harmon of High Point; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Robert Shaw, 1786 Burney Road, Asheboro.

SEAGROVE - Tracy Ralph Reeder, 67, of 539 Reeder Road, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Church of God, with the Rev. Terry Beaver officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, attended Bethel Church of God, retired from Burlington Industries and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are wife, Blanch Downing Reeder of the home; daughters, Toni Poindexter of Candor, Deborah Mohammed of High Point, Katherine Norton of Rural Retreat, Va., Beth Cline of Asheboro and Jamie Reeder of the home; sons, Stanley Parker of Tarpon Springs, Fla., John Parker and Ralph Overman, both of Asheboro; sisters, Ruth Paige of Archdale, Dot Stone of High Point, Edith Yow of Asheboro and Rachel Hancock of Carthage; brothers, Paul Reeder and Elsie Reeder, both of Seagrove, Dr. Alton Reeder of High Point, Lacy Reeder of Troy; 13 grandchildren.

THOMASVILLE - Ollie Savannah Parrish Blake, 90, of Mt. Vista Health Park, Denton, formerly of 325 Walker St., died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in the nursing center.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, with the Rev. Mark Mullins officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Ernest Blake, a homemaker, a member of Holly Hill Wesleyan Church and the JOY Sunday School Class.

Surviving are a daughter, Ernestine Jordan of Thomasville; son, Ernest Wendell Blake of Greensboro; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of the daughter, 104 Boyce Sink Court, Gallery Building, Piedmont Retirement Center, Thomasville.

SOPHIA - James Bobby Williams, 71, of 8314 Hillsville Road, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cumby Mortuary in Archdale, with the Rev. Herman Beck officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a member of Covenant United Methodist Church and the Radio Amateur Club, was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was retired from Spectrum Financial Systems.

Surviving are wife, Noreta "Rita" Cook Williams of the home; daughters, Gayle W. Osborne of Chicago, Ill., JoAnne Christmas of Charlotte and Cathy Darr of Lexington; sons, Bobby Williams ll of High Point, Donald Jackson of Asheboro, David Jackson of Rockford; sister, Verla Hastings of Sophia; stepbrother, Bernie Sheffield of High Point; stepsisters, Maxine Sellers of Colfax and Mrs. Don Richardson of Greensboro; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Amber C. Cox
Amber Cheyanne Cox, 15, of 285 Creekside Drive, Asheboro, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Charles Spivey and the Rev. Chris Thore officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Laurinburg and a student at North Asheboro Middle School.

Surviving are mother, Cynthia Cox Finley of Asheboro; father, Kennedy Locklear of Laurinburg; sisters, Amanda Cox and Heather Cox, both of the home; grandparents, Jerry and Patricia Cox of Asheboro, William and Elizabeth Locklear of Laurinburg; stepgrandparents, Donald and Patricia Finley of Nagautuck, Conn.

He was born in Mullins, S.C., was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a farmer for 26 years.

Surviving are wife, Marjorie Smith Beeson of Liberty; daughters, Dr. Sharon B. King of Burlington, Jennifer Denise Beeson of Greenville; son, Adam Kent Beeson of the home; father, James P. Beeson of Randleman; sister, Abigail Trinko of Kernersville; brothers, James Beeson Jr. of Advance, Michael Beeson of Randleman.

She was a native of Randolph County and worked as a third-shift licensed practical nurse at Chatham Hospital for 23 years.

Surviving are daughter, Eileen T. Williams of Siler City; brother, Arthur Dewey Kirkman Jr. of Star; one granddaughter.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of the daughter, 402 S. Evergreen Ave., Siler City.

SILER CITY - Cara L. Page, 83, of 108 Ellington Road, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at her home.

She was a native of Chatham County and a member of her church usher board and the missionary circle.

Surviving is one grandson.

Floyd C. Hicks
Floyd Cecil Hicks, 55, of 245 Bobby Moran Road, Asheboro, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Beacon Place, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Seagrove, where he was a member. Burial will be in Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City.

He was a native of Bennett and an employee of Luck's.

Surviving are wife, Ruth Shields Hicks; son, David C. Hicks of Asheboro; stepdaughter, Bertha L. Duncan of Pontiac, Mich.; brother, Lloyd Hicks of Seagrove; sister, Mary Lois Dark of Siler City; two grandchildren.

He was a native of Randolph County and retired from Burlington Industries.

Grady W. Owens
Grady Wade Owens, 79, of 585 N. McCrary St., Asheboro, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

No services will be held. Burial will be at Vogler & Sons Crematory.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from the Asheboro City School System, was a graduate of Pfeiffer College and had worked at General Hardware & Lumber Company.

Surviving are wife, Reba Ridge Owens of the home; sisters, Lucille Bridges of High Point, Evelyn Vetovich of Asheboro; brother, Floyd Owens of Lady Lake, Fla.; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren.

Lizzie Cleo Fuller Richey, 83, of 303-B Poplar St., Asheboro, died Thursday April 8, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton, S.C., with the Rev. Marion Smith officiating.

She was a native of Clinton, S.C., and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Phillip H. Gray of Asheboro, Bobby Lee Richey of Leland; brother, William Fuller of Clinton, S.C.; sister, Frances Roach of Clinton, S.C.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
