Vera Williams Richardson, 74, of 157 N. Broad St., Seagrove, died Wednesday June 9, 1999, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Seagrove United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Fran Moran and the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Durham County, retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 37 1/2 years of service and was the first female mayor in Randolph County, serving two terms in Seagrove. She was a pianist at her church, a secretary for her church circle and was a Hospice volunteer.

Surviving are husband, Charles Richardson; daughters, Betty Richardson, Ann Norris, Pat Floyd and Lisa Hill, all of Seagrove; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Seagrove Public Library, 354 Old Plank Road, Seagrove, N.C. 27341.

David S. Yow
David Samuel Yow, 61, of 1304 Green Farm Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Mark Beane officiating. Burial will be in Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are sisters, Bernice Yow of the home, Ruth Rollins; brothers, John Yow Jr. of Asheboro, Joseph Yow of Ramseur, Aaron Yow of Sophia.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

Elsie A. Kiser
SEAGROVE - Elsie Asbill Kiser, 65, of 5549 Antioch Church Road, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Gerald Ward officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and employed with Ramtex for 29 years.

Surviving are sons, Ray Kiser and Jerry Kiser, both of Asheboro; daughters, Judy Brown and Donna Campbell, both of Seagrove, Jo Cole of Asheboro; brothers, Clyde Asbill, Wade Asbill, Donald Asbill, all of Seagrove, Boyce Asbill of Asheboro, Harold Asbill of Troy; sisters, Betty Macon of Seagrove, Jeanette Reeder of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday.

LIBERTY - Lucy Jane York, 61, of 2359 Ramseur-Julian Road, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Justus McKeel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Sherry "Jeannie" McCrosky of Thomasville; brothers, Henry York of Glenola, Jimmy York of Franklinville; sisters, Lena Holyfield of Haw River, Clatie Patterson and Dorothy Boggs, both of Liberty, Kathleen Shaw of Staley; two granddaughters.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Dorothy Boggs, 4635 Boggs Trail, Liberty.

Otis R. Maness Sr.
HIGH POINT - Otis Ray Maness Sr., 63, of 1107 Young Place, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home, High Point, with the Rev. John Coble and Janet Forrest officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

He was a native of High Point, a retired truck driver from Wilson Trucking Co., was a member of the American Cancer Society and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are wife, Brenda Cantrell Maness of the home, daughters, Tammy VonCannon of Asheboro, Jennifer Cox of Thomasville; son, Otis Ray Maness Jr. of Lexington; brothers, Jack Maness and Lee Maness, both of High Point, Jimmy Maness of Faith; sisters, Hedi Maness of Trinity, Gloria Stevens of Brown Summit, Donna Cook of Shallotte; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Alleen W. Blackwell
TROY - Alleen Wood Blackwell, formerly of 341 N. Russell St., died Wednesday June 9, 1999, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Troy Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David Hudson and the Rev. Scott Hillborne officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a former Deputy Register of Deeds in Charlotte and for many years the assistant manager for Holiday Inns in Salisbury and Gastonia. She retired as a regional Hospitality Director for North Carolina Community Colleges and served as co-chairman for the renovation committee and was a member of the Martha Circle at her church.

Surviving are brother, E. H. Wood Jr. of Troy; sisters, Frances W. Williams of Wilkesboro, Ila W. Reynolds of Troy.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at 512 Wood St., Troy.

Lillie Mae Harmon Barnes, 82, formerly of Asheboro, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Rehabilitation & Health Care Center of Alamance in Burlington.

Graveside Service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Kenneth C. Gillikin officiating.

She was a native of Griffin, Ga., a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, retired from Martin Marietta and formerly employed by Burlington Industries, Asheboro.

Surviving are sisters, Surdell Thompson of Greensboro, Vallie Kennedy of Burlington.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday.

Kenneth B. Snow
Kenneth Benton Snow, 35, of 245 Chaney Road, Asheboro, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County and employed with Ramseur Interlock for nine years.

Surviving are daughter, Jennifer Marie Snow of Asheboro; son, William Lee Snow of Asheboro; mother, Doris Floyd Snow of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Henry C. Morton
LIBERTY - Henry Charles Morton, 53, of 6848 N.C. 49 North, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and attended White Cross Baptist Church in Staley.

Surviving are Mattie Fleming; sisters, Janie Morton of Siler City, Carlene King of High Point; brother, Dalton Morton of Orlando, Fla.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of Janie Morton, 2104 S. Chatham Ave., Ext., Siler City.

Robert T. Register Jr.
GREENSBORO - Robert Tracy Register Jr., 78, of 1505 Gracewood Drive, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Beverly Health Care, Starmount.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, North Elm Street, Greensboro. Burial will be at Westminster Gardens.

He was a native of Greensboro, the widower of Margaret Schecter Register, a Bessemer High honors graduate and a 1941 graduate of Guilford College. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and was a newspaper reporter and editor and retired as managing editor of The Record.

Surviving are sister, Muriel R. Wilson of Greensboro; step-son, Roger Schecter of Beaufort.

William E. Hussey
ROBBINS - William Earl Hussey, 91, died Friday, June 11,1999, at Pinehurst Nursing Center in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, with the Rev. Earl G. Dulaney officiating. Burial will be in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Highfalls, the widow of Gertrude Hunsucker Hussey, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a retired electrician.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Sunday.

Kate C. Brown
BENNETT - Kate Coble Brown, 85, of 5323 Lewis Brown Road, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Thurman Williams and the Rev. Hayes Ritter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Harvey D. Brown of the home; sons, Larry Brown of Coleridge, Jerry D. Brown of Bennett; daughters, Mary Lee Brady of Coleridge, Billie Faye Davis of Bennett; sisters, Grace Joyce of Ramseur, Ruby Gilliland of Siler City; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren.

Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, is in charge of the arrangements.

Hobert J. Parks
MEDFORD, Ore. - Hobert J. Parks, 85, of Medford, Ore., died Wednesday, June 9, 1999.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Walker Cemetery.

He was a native of Seagrove, the widower of Ruby M. Lawrence Parks and was retired from W.A. Woodard and Weyerhauser Timber Mill.

Surviving are daughter, Betty Bieber of Central Point, Ore.; son, Johnny Parks of Ringgold, Ga.; sister, Blanche Spencer of Seagrove; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Home, Cottage Grove, Ore., 1-2:30 p.m. Monday.

Curtis J. Harris
CANDOR - Curtis J. Harris, 73, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte.

Funeral service will be noon Tuesday at First Baptist Church West, Charlotte, with the Rev. Ricky Woods officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery, Biscoe.

He was a native of Biscoe and had previously been employed with the Charlotte Observer and the Charlotte Pipe Foundry.

Surviving are wife, Sarah Harris of Charlotte; sons, Curtis P. Harris of San Diego, Calif., Jesse P. Harris and Vernon Harris, both of Charlotte; daughters, Carolyn Bordeaux and Rosalind Harris, both of Charlotte, Judy Jones of San Diego, Calif.; brother, Robert Harris of Biscoe; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Alexander Funeral Home, Charlotte, 7-8 p.m. Monday.

CAMERON - Alline Thomas Collins, 91, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cameron Baptist Church, Cameron, with Dr. Greg Poplin officiating. Burial will be in Cameron Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Wade H. Collins and was a retired elementary school teacher who had taught for several years in Cameron.

Surviving are daughter, Blanche C. Johnson of Southern Pines; son, James Edgar Collins of Anderson, S.C.; one grandchild.

There will be no public visitation. The family will be at the home of the daughter, 205 Pine Needles Lane, Southern Pines.

Deleno H. Moody
Deleno Harlan Moody, 83, of 123 Woodbury St., Asheboro, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Sunrise Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Asheboro and a member of Balfour Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Margaret Vickory Moody; sons, Paul Moody of Fayetteville, Charles Moody, James Moody and Jimmy Jarrell, all of Asheboro; daughters, Nancy Cox and Betty Jo Burrow, both of Asheboro, Dorothy Wright of Denton, Peggy Burrow of Elizabeth, Tenn., Patty Warner of Pinnacle; sister, Fleta Beaver of Asheboro; 30 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

RANDLEMAN - Lena M. Millikan May, 78, of 3449 Benny Lineberry Road, Climax, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. John Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Gray's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Franklinville.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Thomas W. May, with whom she had been a chicken farmer, a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and had worked for Burlington Mills.

Surviving is brother, Arza Millikan of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a retired employee of Capel Inc.

Surviving are husband, Paul Smith of the home; son, Floyd Smith of Mt. Gilead; sisters, Rachel Wilhoit of Uwharrie, Leona Hardister of Troy, Betty Sue Smith of Mt. Gilead.

TROY - Robert Page Yarboro, 89, of 1452 Thickety Creek Road, Mt. Gilead, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at Autumn Care Nursing Home, Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holly Mount Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mitchell Walker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, retired from Young Stone Co. and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are son, Clifford Yarboro of Mt. Gilead; daughter, Norma Jane Lassiter of Mt. Gilead; sister, Maddie Haywood of Mt. Gilead; five grandchildren.
