TROY - Helen Presnell Scott, 79, of 503 Eldorado St., died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, with the Rev. Jeff Lamb and the Rev. Bucky Davis officiating. Burial will be in Leach Family Cemetery, Star.

She was a native of Randolph County the widow of Ervin "Bo" Scott and was retired from Perry Furniture.

Surviving are sons, Charles Scott of Banner Elk, Mike Scott of Pee Dee, Frankie Scott and Richard Scott, both of Troy, Johnny Scott of Randleman; daughters, Peggy Harden of Candor, Frances Dunn of Troy; 18 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Louise B. Carter
Louise Boyles Carter, 81, of 1174 Iron Mountain View Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, Ramseur, where she was a member. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a 1936 graduate of Seagrove High School and had been employed at Carter's Grocery.

Surviving are daughters, Janet Bittinger of Terrell, Jane Lavinder of Asheboro, Janice Horney of Julian, Joyce Kirkman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sons, Jimmy Carter of Asheboro, Jeff Carter of Pleasant Garden; sister, Mozelle Nance of Asheboro; brother, D.J. Boyles of Asheboro; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

James A. Mason
James Albert Mason, 77, of 156 E. Academy St., Asheboro, died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are sisters, Florence Lucas, Mattie Burke, Juanita Jessup, and Ruth Bray, all of Asheboro, Rachel Miller of Raleigh.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

RAMSEUR - Della Templin Kivett, 84, of 619 Oliver St., died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Scott Owen officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Hamblen County, Tenn. and a homemaker.

The family will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Elmer D. Hinshaw
LIBERTY - Elmer D. Hinshaw, 78, formerly of 10704D N.C. 49 South, died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Moses Cone Extended Care Facility, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Howard Spray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Alamance County, a member of the Men's Sunday School class at his church and previously owned and operated cattle, poultry, grain and forage crop farms in Randolph, Chatham and Alamance counties.

Surviving are sister, Ruby Hinshaw of Greensboro; brother, Rayborn F. Hinshaw of Jamestown.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Ruby Hinshaw, 2502 Fairway Drive, Greensboro.

Stanley L. Ryan
EAGLE SPRINGS - Stanley Lee "Pop" Ryan, 62, of 304 V. Morgan Road, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999.

There will be no funeral service or visitation.

He was a native of Baltimore, Md., and a heavy equipment operator.

Surviving are wife, Mabel Ann Ryan of the home; daughter, Nancy Ryan of Troy; sons, Stanley Ryan Jr. of Robbins, Anthony Ryan of Biscoe; stepson, Duane Weber of Baltimore, Md.; brother, Tom Ryan of Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren; one stepgrandchild.

Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, is in charge of the arrangements.

RANDLEMAN - Rudolph Otis Hanner, formerly of Randleman, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999.

A memorial graveside service will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Level Cross United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Larry and Lynda Hylton following the service.

SOPHIA - Aileen McPherson Lacey, 81, of 3322 Roy Farlow Road, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenola Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Douglas Davis and the Rev. Norman Livengood officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Alamance County, retired from Crown Hosiery Company and the widow of James Monroe Lacey.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy Lacey and Bonnie Fleming, both of Sophia, and Patsy Gibson of Coconut Creek, Fla.; sisters, Myrtle Ellington and Maie Venable, both of High Point, Marie Perdue of Winston-Salem, and Clarice Thomerson of Greensboro; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Mortuary in Archdale 7-8:30 p.m. Friday and other times at the home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Joseph Forbes and the Rev. J. R. Tatum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and retired from Luck's Inc.

Surviving are wife, Bernice Hussey Morgan; mother, Onnie Hancock Morgan of Star; daughter, Sharon M. Williams of Charlotte; sons, Barry L. Morgan of Seagrove and Steven A. Morgan of the home; sister, Joyce Morgan of Star; brothers, Phillip Morgan and Roger Morgan, both of Star; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins 7-9 p.m. Friday and other times at the home.

Joe Crump
MT. GILEAD - Joe Crump, 77, of 2395 N.C. 731 East, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at FirstHealth Montgomery Hospital.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sharon Cemetery.

He was a native of Richmond County and a retired welder from Daniels Construction Company.

Surviving are sons, Joe Lee Crump of Knightdale and Bobby Crump of Biscoe; daughter, Frances Mullen of Hamlet; brother, Jim Crump of Mt. Gilead; nine grandchildren.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Evelyn R. Willett
SILER CITY - Evelyn Kennedy Rice Willett, 88, of 925 Buck Gunner Road, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Sun Bridge Care Facilities in Siler City.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Cecil Canis officiating.

She was a native of Chatham County, a member of Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church and a retired executive secretary.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Lonnie P. Hubbard
FAYETTEVILLE - Lonnie Proctor Hubbard, 80, of 123 Starhill Ave., died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at the Veterans State Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Larry Patrick officiating. Entombment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.

He was a retired Master Sgt. with the U.S. Army, an ex-POW and retired from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Phoenix Lodge #8, Longleaf Pine Order of the Eastern Star, the New Bern Scottish Rites-White Shrine and the American Ex-POWs.

Surviving are sons, Doyle W. Hubbard and Samuel P. Hubbard, both of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

James C. Walden Sr.
James C. Walden Sr., 85, of 1092 Walden Road, Asheboro, died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mitchell United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a self-employed contractor and retired from the home improvement business.

Surviving are wife, Naomi B. Walden; daughters, Linda J. Thompson and Brenda J. Russell, both of Greensboro; brother, Rev. Henry A. Walden of Asheboro; sister, Elizabeth Majette of Baltimore, Md.

The family will be at the church 1 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

Gailes Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

Pauline Bellinger
Pauline Bellinger, 74, of Asheboro, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Surviving are daughters, Jennifer Piercy of Asheboro, and Nancy Wing; sons, Michael Bellinger, Paul Bellinger and Timothy Bellinger; sisters, Joy Prole and Mytwanny Sherman of the U.K.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Cremation Services Inc., Winston-Salem, is in charge of the arrangements.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Jack Edwin Suggs and a member of Friendly Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Ann S. Trotter of Climax; sons, William "Bill" Suggs and Larry E. "Eddie" Suggs, both of Asheboro; sister, Sula F. Smith of Liberty; brothers, Harold Frazier and Elden Frazier, both of Liberty; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, other times at the home.

She was a native of Moore County and the widow of Robert Edward Spangler.

Surviving are daughters, Louise Marosites of Pinehurst, Patsy Garner of West End; sons, Bobby Spangler of West End, Freddy Spangler of Pinehurst; brothers, James Talbert of Whispering Pines, Leonard Talbert of Roswell, N.M.; sisters, Ruth Garner of Carthage, Lillie Williamson of Aberdeen, Ruby Fowler and Virginia Betts, both of Sanford; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.

FLOYD Va. - Virginia Hanner Lomax, 84, of Floyd, Va., died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at her home.

She was a native of Asheboro and the widow of Dennis Lee Lomax.

Surviving are daughters, Sara R. Lomax and Virginia Denise Lomax.

Aaron W. Smith
SEAGROVE - Aaron Wesley Smith, 86, of 1812 Adams Road, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Philip J. Birchall, Rev. Bennie Maness and Rev. Wayne Byrd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a church trustee for 62 years, taught Sunday School for 63 years and was retired from Klopman Mills.

Surviving are daughters, Shirley S. Criscoe, Nancy S. Sanders, Rebecca S. Chriscoe, Patricia S. "Pat" Hussey and Darlene Smith-Key, all of Seagrove, and Ann S. Sanders of Eagle Springs; brother, Thomas Smith of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home in Star 7-9 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home of Bradley and Rebecca Chriscoe, 2529 Brower Mill Road, Seagrove.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Edwin J. Wallace, 78, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Main Street United Methodist Church in Columbia, S.C., where he was a member, with the Rev. Michael C. Bell, Rev. Sandra Stevens-Poirel and Dr. Sandra Wardlaw officiating. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens.

He was a native of Grand Gorge, N.Y., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired auto mechanic after 42 years with Hancock Buick, a member of the Wesley Fidelity Sunday School Class and the Men's Club at his church and a member of the Green Hill Hunt Club and the Brunnerdale Hunt Club.

Surviving are wife, Willie Mae "Dit" Cornwell Wallace of Columbia, S.C.; daughters, Frances Powell of Columbia, S.C., and Grace Pound of St. Matthews, S.C.; sons, Harry Wallace of Hartsville, S.C., and Eddie Wallace of Asheboro; sisters, Bertha Jane Wallace Grippin and Alice Wallace Harris, both of New York; brother, Harry Wallace of New York; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Shives Funeral Home in Columbia, S.C., 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday.
