William Howard Craven, 79, formerly of 4247 Happy Hollow Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Green officiating.

He was a native of Richmond County, the widower of Lilly Craven, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was formerly employed by Huffman Oil Company.

Surviving are stepdaughters, Ruth Butler of Randleman, Tina Greene of Vinton, Va.; stepson, B. J. Craven of Greensboro; sisters, Betty Johnson and Dorothy Brower, both of Asheboro, Ailene Durham of Richmond, Va.; brother, Jethro Craven of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Elizabeth Pickett Nicholson of 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Ruth C. Sink
Ruth Cooper Sink, 81, of 1933 Gold Hill Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at her home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Robert L. Kidd officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Troy Sink, a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of Quaker Heights Friends Meeting.

Surviving are sister, Colleen Warren of Greensboro; brothers, Dale Richardson of Vancover, Wash., E. K. Richardson of Randleman, Don Richardson of Lexington, S.C.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church, Asheboro, with the Rev. Larry Stines officiating. Burial will be in Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Asheboro.

She was a native of Randolph County and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are sons, Carl E. Davis of Ramseur, Darrell L. Davis Jr. of Greensboro, Stephen M. Davis of Asheboro; brothers, Leon D. Shirley of Randleman, George Arnold Shirley of Asheboro, Phillip Shirley of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren.

He was a native of Montgomery County and retired from B. B. Walker Shoe Company.

Surviving are wife, Evoyne Singleton Davis of the home; sons, James L. Davis Jr. of Star, Barry L. Davis and Scottie V. Davis, both of Seagrove; sisters, Martha Noah, Nancy Greene, Claudine Greene and Annie Mae Batten, all of Star, Janie Welch of Robbins, Betty Lucas of Asheboro; brothers, Bobby R. Davis of Star, Claude Davis Jr. of Ramseur; six grandchildren.

MT. GILEAD - Terry Marcus Harris, 42, of 168 N.C. 731 West, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at his home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hamer Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary McNeil officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors are parents, Glenn Marcus "Pete" and Virginia Lefler Harris of the home; sister, Pam Lee of Mt. Gilead.

She was a native of Anson County, attended New Covenant Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Diane Georgepul of Troy, Susan McCaskill of Star; sons, Glenn Bramblett of Troy, Michael Bramblett of Candor; mother, Estelle Short of Goose Creek, S.C.; brother, Johnny Short Sr. of Goose Creek, S.C.; nine grandchildren.

CARTHAGE - Linda Laney Tober, 56, of 593 S. Broadway, Medina, Ohio, died Saturday, July 24,1999, while visiting her parents on Mt. Carmel Road, Carthage.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. E. Ray Brooks officiating.

She was a native of Lexington and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, James R. Tober of the home; parents, Preston and Virginia Hinson Laney of Carthage; son, Mitchell Shearer of Carthage; two grandchildren.

Elizabeth Pickett Nicholson, 88, of 233 Worth St., Asheboro, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be noon Wednesday at Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of High Point, the widow of Carl Younger Coley and James D. Nicholson and a graduate of High Point College.

Surviving are four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Simpson and Tabatha Goins, both of Robbins; sons, Jeffrey Spencer of Robbins, Gregory Spencer of Asheboro; stepsons, David Lynn Flinchum of Randleman, Mark Dwayne Flinchum of Asheboro; mother, Fannie Chriscoe Spencer of Asheboro; sisters, Hazel McNeill of Seagrove, Dorothy Allred of Robbins; brothers, Winfred Spencer, Edgar Spencer and Bennie Spencer, both of Seagrove; nine grandchildren.

BENNETT - Ray Cox, 76, of 6569 Jimmy Cox Road, died Monday, July 26, 1999, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Kenneth Huggins and the Rev. Hayes Ritter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from the Boling Company in Siler City and was a retired poultry farmer.

Surviving are wife, Lessie McDaniel Cox of the home; daughter, Shirley Stout of Ramseur; sons, Jimmy Ray Cox and Jerry Levi Cox, both of Bennett; sister, Artie Cox of Bennett; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Ethel B. Shirley
Ethel Beane Shirley, 85, of Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Dundee Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Mark Beane and the Rev. Roy Grigsby officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Frank L. Shirley, a homemaker and a member of West Bend United Methodist Church.

Surviving are sons, Oliver Shirley, Walter Shirley, Bobby Shirley and Frankie Shirley, all of Asheboro; brothers, Roy Beane, Walter Beane, Jack Beane and Billy Beane, all of Asheboro; sister, Minnie Needham of Burlington; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Mae T. Lednum
LIBERTY - Mae Trogdon Lednum, 83, of 7796 Ferguson Road, died Monday, July 26, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Edinger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Terry Lednum of Ramseur, Roger Lednum and Earl Lednum, both of Liberty; daughter, Beverly L. Varner of Liberty; sisters, Ava Caviness of Ramseur, Ethel Tillman of Hampton, Va.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

John C. Tysinger
DENTON - John C. "J.C." Tysinger, 63, of 843 Frank Road, died Monday, July 26, 1999, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Jerusalem United Church of Christ, where he was a member, with the Rev. Raymond Craven officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Davidson County, worked for Lexington Furniture Industries and then for Drexel Heritage Furniture for more than 30 years, and was a Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Elder and Trustee, served on the Cemetery Committee, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for more than 20 years at his church.

Surviving are wife, Maxine Hedrick Tysinger of the home; sons, John C. "Johnny" Tysinger Jr. and Greg V. Tysinger, both of Denton; daughter, Karen Craver of Lexington; brother, Joe Tysinger of Denton; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Geraldine F. Haithcock
GARDEN CITY BEACH, S.C. - Geraldine Farlow Haithcock, 77, of Garden City Beach, S.C., and formerly of Asheboro, died Monday, July 26, 1999 at Georgetown Hospital.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Marlboro Friends Church, Sophia, with the Rev. C.F. McDowell III officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Randleman High School and Brevard College, and attended the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte.

Surviving are husband Leroy Haithcock of Garden City; daughter, Edna Michaux of Greensboro; sister, Hazel Braun of Asheboro; brothers, Bryce Farlow of Winter Park, Fla., Michael Farlow of Asheboro, Byron Farlow of Sophia; three grandchildren; five great-grandsons.

The family will be at home of the daughter, 4303 Penton Place, Greensboro, all day Friday and also immediately after the service at the church.

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Murrells Inlet, S.C., is in charge of the arrangements.

HIGH POINT - Lillian Mac Hensdale Rhue, 90, of 321 Old Mill Road, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bunker Hill Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Elder John Winfield and EIder J.M. Horne officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Winston-Salem.

She was a native of Forsyth County and the widow of Elder Z.L. Rhue, with whom she owned and operated Rhue's Nursery and Greenhouses in Winston-Salem.

Surviving are daughters, Rebecca Teague of Raleigh, Mary R. Pyrtle of High Point; brother, Roger Gray Hensdale of Kernersville; sister, Lizzie Belle Prescott of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

TROY - Marie Greene Burchett, 71, of 1954 N.C. 109 North, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, Candor, with the Rev. Lonnie Woody and the Rev. Doug Shuff officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a charter member of Triune Baptist Church in Greensboro and was retired from Cone Mills.

Surviving are husband, John "Tom" Burchett of the home; son, Rover J. Wall Jr. of Yuma, Ariz.; daughter, Kaye Poindexter of Troy; brothers, Lester Greene of Mint Hill, Marshall Greene of Randleman, David "Junior" Greene of Troy; sisters, Mammie Thomas and Louise Needham, both of Asheboro, Vada Goforth and Shirley Freeman, both of Candor; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

Nannie R. McNeill
ROBBINS - Nannie Ritter McNeill, 95, of 6791 N.C. 705 South, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, in the Pinelake Health & Rehab Center in Carthage.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Grady Blakely and the Rev. Ron Copple officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Allen Leonard McNeill, taught school at the old Prosperity School near High Falls and the Moody School near Seagrove, was a Sunday School teacher at her church for 25 years, a member of the Ladies Class and was a professional seamstress.

Surviving are daughters, Virginia M. Owen of Robbins, Elizabeth M. Hussey of Summerfield; sons, Allen R. McNeill of Asheboro, Charles E. McNeill of the home, Harold G. McNeill of Lexington, Thomas L. McNeill of Coleridge, Leon H. McNeill of New London; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Johnny C. Ledwell
Johnny Calvin Ledwell, 53, of 2672 Ledwell Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, July 27, 1999, at Carillon Assisted Living of Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mitchell United Methodist Church in Asheboro. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a former employee of the Department of Social Services in Philadelphia, Pa.

Surviving are daughter, Erica Ledwell of Philadelphia, Pa.; mother, Alma S. Caviness; stepfather, Dwight C. Caviness of Asheboro; sisters, Ann L. Mosley of Philadelphia, Pa., and Jane Ledwell of Edison, N.J.; brothers, Bernice Ledwell and David Ledwell, both of Asheboro, and James Ledwell of Biscoe.

The family will be at Gailes Funeral Home 7-8 p.m. Friday and other times at the home.

Brenda C. Brady
RAMSEUR - Brenda Carol Brady, 55, of 5518 N.C. 22-42, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Hayes Ritter and the Rev. Tom Hill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are brothers, Glenn Brady of Randleman, David Brady of Asheboro and Wiley Brady of Ramseur; sisters, Lois Brady of Ramseur, June Branson and Phyllis Leonard, both of Asheboro, and Martha Smith of Siler City.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur 7-9 p.m. Thursday and other times at the home of Mickey Brady, 4871 Log Cabin Road, Ramseur.
