Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's New Mission United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Rev. Tim Allen officiating. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
She was a native of Orange County and the widow of Jasper C. "Jack" Rhodes.
Surviving are daughters, Jackie Kane and Mary Adams, both of Burlington, Judith Cone of Cary, Jean Kindschi of Asheboro; sister, Mrs. Clifford H. Bain of Swansboro; brother, Franklin D. Scott of Prattville, Ala.; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

SILER CITY - R. Mack Fields, 58, of 13300 N.C. 902, Bear Creek, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at his home.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, Bear Creek, where he was a member, with the Rev. Robert Capps and the Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Chatham County and a former deacon and assistant Sunday School teacher at his church.

MT. GILEAD - Frederick Douglas Chambers, 92, of 2710 N.C. 109 South, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McAuley Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was the oldest member. Burial will be in McAuley Memorial Garden, Mt. Gilead.
He was a native of Montgomery County, a class leader and a member of the steward board at his church and was retired from Jordan Lumber Co.
Surviving are daughters, Frances C. Ewing of the home, Addie C. Dumas of Mt. Gilead; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

CARTHAGE - Doris Deaton Simpson, 64, of 236 Mt. Carmel Road, died Thursday, Aug. 5,1999, at her home.

She was a native of Moore County and an organist at her church for over 30 years.

He was a native of Cabarrus County, retired from Cannon Mills, Plant #1, was a gardener, cook and caterer, a life-time member of the Mt. Pleasant Lions Club and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
