He was a native of Rowan County and a retired sergeant for the N.C. State Department of Correction.
Surviving are wife, Lena Coward Martin; son, Jim Martin of Franklinville; sister, Emma Crowe of Franklinville; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

DENTON - Don Anderson Plummer Sr., 80, of 490 S. Main St., died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at Community General Hospital, Thomasville.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jack Stratas, the Rev. Derald Smith and the Rev. Dan Money officiating. Burial will be in Denton Town Cemetery.
He was a native of Davidson County, the widower of Holan Plummer, had worked with Joe Cecil Construction, was a Sunday School teacher at his church for 30 years, was a member of Woodmen of the World and was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are wife, Irene Markham Plummer of the home; son, Don Plummer Jr. of Denton; stepsons, Lea Markham of Lexington, Earl Lawrence Markham, Wayne Markham and James Markham, all of Denton; stepdaughters, Jean Hunt, Janice Kindley, Brenda Plummer, Betty Essick and Angie Shuskey, all of Denton; brother, Craig Plummer of High Point; two grandchildren; 22 stepgrandchildren; 22 stepgreat-grandchildren.

JACKSON SPRINGS - Joseph C. "Joe" Luck, 68, of 112 Mill Road, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at his home.

He was a native of Hoke County, a U.S. Army veteran and was employed for 28 years as a truck driver with Brown Moulding Co.

DENTON - Edith Marie Hedrick Coggins, 84, of Mountain Vista Health Park and formerly of Gallimore Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Mountain Vista.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Denton Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Charles Moses, the Rev. James Cooper and the Rev. Clay Parker officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Lester Coggins, attended Denton Wesleyan Church, was a member of the Friendship Club for the visually impaired and sold subscriptions to the Denton Record for many years.
Surviving are sons, Kelton Coggins of Lexington, Don Coggins of Denton; brother, D. Luther Hedrick of Ridgeway, Va.; 10 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was employed with Lowe's of Asheboro, was a graduate of Enka High School in Enka, where he was a member of the football, wrestling and track teams and a member of the Spanish Honor Society and Advanced Chorus. He attended Wingate College and attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Asheville.
