ROBBINS - Michael R. Stout, 52, of Robbins, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

A private service will be held.

Surviving are wife, Gail Stout; son, Billy Shane Stout of Robbins; stepfather, Eddie Norman Williams Sr. of Robbins.

Boles Funeral Home and Crematory of Southern Pines is in charge of the arrangements.

Opal B. Pressley
CARTHAGE - Opal Bowles Pressley, 91, of Union Church Road, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Priest Hill Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Michael Herring officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Stokes County and the widow of Brady Pressley.

Surviving are daughter, Maxine Clark of Carthage; sons, Eugene Pressley and Richard Pressley, both of Carthage; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

GLENDON - Nell Mashburn Gupton, 85, of Glendon, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glendon Christian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Bob Yandle officiating.

Surviving are daughters, Jean Daniels of Smithfield, Va., Elizabeth "Betsy" Murphy of Glendon, Nelda Gupton of Pittsboro; son, William "Bill" Gupton of the home; sister, Pearl Gladu of Fairview, Mass.; six grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.

Edna R. Stanton
Edna Rhyne Stanton, 78, of 306 Sunrise Ave., Asheboro, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Edward Tapper and the Rev. Carroll Owenby officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Hoke County, a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, retired from General Electric and a former volunteer at Randolph Hospital.

Surviving are husband, J.C. Stanton Jr. of Asheboro; sons, James C. Stanton III of Eatonton, Ga., Tim Stanton of Asheboro; daughter, Lu Leon of Washington, D.C.; sister, Mary Lee VonCanon of Aberdeen; five grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

TRINITY - Mary Lee Arnold Spivey, 77, of 7246 Old U.S. 64, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Beverly Health Care.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bonnie Harris and the Rev. Ray O'Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was native of Randolph County, retired from Acme-McCrary, and a member of the Polk Green Sunday School Class and the Women's Society of Christian Service.

Surviving are husband, Paul W. Spivey of the home; son, Kenneth P. Spivey of Kentucky; sisters, Esther Jarrell of Lexington, Jewel Randall of Charlotte, Opal Parrish and Ola Mae Pope, both of Trinity; brother, Frank Arnold of Lexington; one granddaughter.

The family will be at Family Funeral Care Funeral Home, Thomasville, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Friendly Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Richard Hedgecock officiating. Burial will be at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.

She was a native of Astoria, Ore.

HIGH POINT - Helen Davis Earnhardt, 73, of 206 Paramount St., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Douglas T. Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a native of High Point, a homemaker and a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class at her church.

Surviving are husband, Oliver Earnhardt of the home; daughters, Debby Parrish of Kernersville, Jane Green of High Point; son, Carl Michael Earnhardt of Thomasville; sister, Evelyn Brower of Liberty; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, North Elm Chapel, Greensboro. Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Rock House Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Pilot Mountain.

He was a native of Guilford County, retired from the City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are mother, Ethel H. Shelton of Greensboro; father, Paul R. Shelton of Pilot Mountain; sisters, Brenda Faye Capps of Largo, Fla., Darlene S. Daniel and Barbara Jean Shelton, both of Greensboro; brothers, Bob Shelton and Richard Shelton, both of Kernersville.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Darlene Davis, 3309 N.C. 150 East, Greensboro.

Alberta M. Wicker
CAMERON - Alberta M. Wicker, 65, of James H. Road, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Graveside service was 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Bob Schwartz officiating.

Surviving are husband, James W. Wicker; mother, Mazie Morgan of Wilson; brother, Jimmy Morgan of West End.

Bill Powell
William Thomas Powell, 70, of 816 Lewis St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Jack Clark officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, the widower of Inez Elizabeth Powell, attended Dogwood Acres Presbyterian Church where he had been a deacon, was retired from Rice Hosiery and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are daughter, Sonja Willett of Ramseur; sisters, Jo Anne Routh of Asheboro, Betty Pierce of Charlotte, Patsy Roberts of Franklinville, Ruth Dorion of Sterling, Va.; one grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Clarence V. Clark
RANDLEMAN - Clarence V. Clark, 69, of 228 Allred Way, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Max Allman officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Alamance County, a member of Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro and retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Co. after 32 years.

Surviving are wife, Sarah J. Clark of the home; sons, Randy J. Clark of Slidell, La., Michael Clark of Burlington, Larry Wood of Mt. Airy; daughter, Christine Nichols of Randleman; sister, Ollie C. Bramlett of Greenville, S.C.; six grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Dillon B. Kimrey
LIBERTY - Dillon B. Kimrey, 74, of 513 N. Asheboro St., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at his home.

A private service will be held at a later date for the family.

He was a native of Stanly County and a World War ll veteran.

Surviving are sister, Gladys Phillips of Siler City; brother, Mike Kimrey of Titusville, Fla.; stepbrother, Elmer Robinson of Charlotte.

Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, is in charge of the arrangements.

Opal D. Wilson
BISCOE - Opal Marie Dunn Wilson, 63, of 405 Greg St., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Biscoe Cemetery, with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a retired hosiery mill employee.

Surviving are daughters, Betty Shipp of Raleigh, Brenda Beare of Yuma, Ariz., Sheila Arnoldin of Missoula, Mont.; mother, Lucille Dunn Deaton of Biscoe; brother, Daniel W. Deaton Jr. of Mt. Gilead; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, noon-1:30 p.m. Friday.

Howard C. Gregson
RANDLEMAN - Howard Cecil Gregson, 69, of 124 Sibbett Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Sunbridge Care and Rehab.

Graveside service was 1 p.m. Friday at Guilford Memorial Park, with the Rev. Kenneth Reaves officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County and self-employed.

Surviving are wife, Marilyn Gregson of Randleman; daughters, Mary Tate of Sophia, Brenda Redding of Venice, Fla.; sons, Howard C. Gregson Jr. of Lexington, Clarence Christopher Gregson of Greensboro; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 10:30 a.m.-noon.

Russell L. Carte Sr.
LIBERTY - Russell L. Carte Sr., 67, of 4828 Sandy Creek Church Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at his home.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.

He was a native of Kanawha County, W.Va., retired from Deluxe Check Printers in Greensboro, was a retired farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are wife, Mary Chapman Carte of the home; son, Russell L. Carte Jr. of Franklinville; daughters, Linda C. Cliborne of Powhatan, Va., Judith C. Brinegar of Ramseur, Julia C. Staley of Franklinville; sisters, Virginia Sergent of Red House, W.Va., Ivalou Fields of Randleman; brothers, Okey Carte of Elkview, W.Va., Dannie Carte of Buffalo, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

GREENSBORO - Walter M. Edge Jr., 74, of Greensboro died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was retired from LTV Steel Corp. after 33 years, was a member of Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church and a life-time member of Pleasant Hills Guthrie Masonic Lodge No. 759.

Surviving are wife, Mary Patricia Edge of the home; daughters, Judy Hunt of Asheboro, Kimberly Edge of Greensboro; one grandson.

The family will be at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Earl Dulaney, the Rev. Robert F. Bundy, and his grandson, the Rev. Todd Moore, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, the Sunday School superintendent for several years at his church, a member of the United Methodist Men and had served on the Administrative Board, church choir and Board of Trustees.

Surviving are wife, Sadie Currie Moffitt of the home; daughter, Ann C. Moore of Robbins; brothers, Leon C. Moffitt of Bennett, John C. Moffitt of Greensboro; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

He was a native of Moore County and a retired carpenter.

SANFORD - Rebecca Medlin Donithan, 80, of 714 Westover Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Convalescent Center of Lee County.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Sanford, with the Rev. James Cockran officiating. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Huston Donithan, a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church in Asheboro and the founder of Becky's Pocketbooks in Asheboro.

Surviving are sisters, Mary Zooleck of New Britain, Conn., Margaret Walston of Sanford.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Margaret Walston, 3038 Khalif Court, Sanford.

Carrie G. Britt
Carrie Greene Guthrie Britt, 88, of 211 Uwharrie St., Asheboro, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Boyd Stokes officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Charlotte County, Va., a member of First United Methodist Church of Asheboro, employed for over 20 years at Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill and retired from Dixie Furniture.

Surviving are husband, Robert Edward Britt of Asheboro; son, Paul Edwin "Eddie" Greene of Niceville, Fla.; daughter, Linda Faye Greene of Asheboro; sister, Marie Morgan of Florence, Ala.; half-brother, Berkley Guthrie of Virginia; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday.
