He was a native of Randolph County and retired from Carolina Pacific in High Point.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

He was a native of Chicago, Ill., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired from the Prelude Division of Vita Olympic and Cushion Division and a ministerial associate at New Bethel Baptist Church.
Surviving are wife, Betty Taylor Simmons Baines of the home; daughters, Snovia Lee and Kim Mills, both of High Point; foster mother, Minnie Alford of Chicago, Ill.; stepsons, Lovia William McDonald of Chicago, Ill., Darryl Simmons and Roderick Simmons, both of Pittsburgh, Pa., Raymond Simmons of LaGrange, Ill., and Daniel Simmons of Suitland, Md.; sister, Rosena Rockett of East St. Louis, Ill.; brother, Carl Baines of Chicago, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
