Funeral service will be 2 p .m. Sunday at St. Luke U.M.C., where she was a member, with the Rev. James A. Curry officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvery Cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County and a retired employee of Dixie Restaurant

Bettie E. Goldston, 88, of 345 Watkins St., Asheboro, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation Center, Asheboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Church of God of Prophecy, with Bishop Barney Trogdon officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Siler City.
She was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker.

Gladys Guthrie Pugh, 88, of 2713 Bruce Pugh Road, Franklinville, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gray's Chapel United Methodist Church, Franklinville, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bart W. Milleson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Alamance County and a retired teacher and librarian at Gray's Chapel School where she was the founder of the school library. She was the founder of her church library, the first female Sunday School Superintendent, where she also taught the Ladies Sunday School Class for several years and was the first President and charter member of the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are husband, G. Bruce Pugh of Franklinville; daughters, Louise P. Corder and Emma P. Routh, both of Franklinville; sisters, Edith Mogle of Snow Camp, Margaret Fuquay of Burlington, Audrey Moon of Graham; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren.

Robert L. Reese
Robert Luther Reese, 90, of 625 Holly St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at his home.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Central United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Reverend Chris Thore officiating.
He was a native of Garysburg, the widower of Elizabeth Ellen Ross Reese, attended High Point College and was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was employed by the Home Building Material Company, later Hedgecock Home Building, which he managed until the mid 60s, was Chairman of the Board of Randolph Building and Loan, later First Southern and then Centura Bank and served on the Asheboro School Board, the Asheboro City Council and as Mayor of Asheboro from 1962-1983. He served on the Official Board and as chairman at his church, was a teacher of the Lloyd Bible Class, a member of the Asheboro Kiwanis Club for over 40 years where he served as President, Lieutenant Governor and is a George Hixon fellow and was a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Asheboro Rotary Club. He was a member of the Asheboro Chamber of Commerce, served as its building fund drive chairman for its present location and was named Citizen of the Year for Asheboro in 1984.
Surviving are son, Robert L. Reese of Asheboro; daughter, Sara Elizabeth Cook of Concord.
The family will be at the church following the service.

He was a native of Montgomery County, retired from Gilead Manufacturing, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Wadeville United Methodist Church and of VFW Post 10940.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Orva Brown, Homer Dawson and F.C. Lester and she held nearly every office and position available in her church and was most recently a Sunday School teacher.
