She was a native of Montgomery County and a healthcare worker.

ROBBINS - Wess Caviness, 91, of 1735 Wilson Road, died Friday, Dec. 24,1999, at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County, a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving are son, Charles Caviness of Robbins; daughter, Laverne Chriscoe of Robbins; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

CARTHAGE - W. O. "Bill" White III, 58, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999.

He was a native of Bladen County, a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired electrician.

CARTHAGE - Maj. A. M. "Mac" Brewer, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at St. Joseph Skilled Nursing Facility, Southern Pines.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, with the Rev. Tom Williams and the Rev. Gary McFarland officiating. Burial will be in Cross Hill Cemetery.
He was a native of Carthage, a retired World War II and Korea veteran, served as chairman of the Moore County Board of Elections and was the first Moore County Public Guardian.
Surviving are sister, Faye B. Hamlin of Carthage; brothers, Stacy Brewer Jr. of Robbins, J. Bion Brewer of Sanford.

Pearl M. Wooten
LA GRANGE - Pearl Mooring Wooten, 86, of 205 N. Caswell St., died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at La Grange Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Roy Morris, the Rev. Clint White and the Rev. Bob Hovey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
She was a 1934 graduate of East Carolina Teachers College, the widow of John Stewart Wooten, taught science in the Lenoir County Schools at La Grange and North Lenoir High School, for over 30 years and was an organist at her church.
Surviving are son, John Stewart Wooten Jr. of Asheboro; brother, Edward C. Mooring of La Grange; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

BANNING, CALIF. - Raymond Arthur Petty, 81, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at his home.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Banning United Methodist Church, Banning, Calif., where he was a member.
He was a native of High Point, a retired U.S. mail carrier after 25 years, was a member and former chaplain of VFW Post 4417 and a member of the Banning Lions Club and Masons. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force veteran where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, was a member of his church choir, the United Methodist Men and the Men's Bible Study. He officiated high school and college sports, co-ordinated Little League umpires, was a member of the Rhythm Ramblers and performed in chorales and in amateur theater productions.
Surviving are wife, Alice Petty of Banning, Calif.; daughters, Fredricka Proveaux of Conway, S.C., Mabel Zanforlin of Newton, Pa., Myrle Petty of Banning, Calif.; three grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Cletus Hardin, was the past president of Woman's Society, a former choir member, Sunday School teacher and head of Youth Fellowship at her church. She formerly was employed with Belk Yates Department Store and Randleman High School Cafeteria and was retired From Lad & Lassie in Randleman.
Surviving are daughter, Myra Jean Bowman of Randleman; sons, Dewey Hardin of Greensboro, Connie Hardin of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Entombment will be in Westminster Gardens with Masonic graveside rites.
He was a native of Mecklenburg County, a retired Guilford County Deputy Sheriff and a member of the P.P. Turner Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Greensboro Police Reserve, the retired police officers association, past president of the young Democrats club and a member of the Methodist Men.

He was a native of Chatham County, the widower of Julia Martin Glenn, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy, a retired pharmacist with Denton Drug Store and a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
There are no immediate survivors.

He was a native of Montgomery County, retired from JC Penney Co. as the non-sales manager of North Hills Mall, Raleigh, and since his retirement has worked with McKeithan Funeral Home of Mt. Gilead.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Ballou Liske of the home; son, Robert B. Liske Jr. of Greensboro; daughters, Patti L. Cecil of Knightdale, Debbie Liske of Raleigh; sisters, Mrs. G.W. Edwards of Winston-Salem; Mary McNeill Carpenter of Marion; five grandchildren.
