Graveside service was 2 p.m. Monday at New Garden Cemetery, Greensboro.
He was a native of Burlington, superintendent of Liberty Hosiery Mills Inc. in Liberty, co-owner and general manager of Allsheer Hosiery Mill, a past president of the Liberty Rotary Club and a member of Guilford College United Methodist Church.
Surviving are wife, Erma Love Jones; daughter, Barbara Cummings of Liberty; sons, Walter V. Jones Jr., John W. Jones, both of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

BISCOE - Lance Tyrone Sorenson, 46, of 426 Church St., died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at his home.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Energizer Battery and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of James Thomas Batten, a member of Level Cross United Methodist Church, and retired from Cone Mills Olympic Plant.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Wilbur Black, worked at Klopman Mill in Denton, was retired from Kaby Mills in Thomasville, was a member of Hedricks Grove United Church of Christ and formerly attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville.
Surviving are daughters, Shirley B. Hedrick, Betty B. Byrd, both of Lexington; sisters, Cleo Staton of Trinity, Ethel Workman of Baltimore, Md.; two grandchildren.

He was a native of Lincoln County, president of Open Door Sunday School Class at his church, a member of the Asbury Church Senior Citizens and was a retired farmer and Harris-Teeter employee.
