Vivian Kinney Strider, 78, of 2788 Spoons Chapel Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at her home.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dwight Ayers and the Rev. Charles Spivey officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of William Strider, was of the Baptist faith and retired from JRA Industries.

Surviving are sons, the Rev. Tim Strider of Bennett, Billy Strider, Ronnie Strider and Darrell Strider, all of Asheboro; daughters, Phyllis Garner and Jean Smith, both of Asheboro; brothers, Wade Kinney and Arlan Kinney, both of Asheboro, Dean Kinney of Worthville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Mozelle V. Trogdon

Mozelle Voncannon Trogdon, 93, of 314 Croomcrest Road, Asheboro, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Wesley Long Nursing Home, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Asheboro First Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mark Beane and the Rev. A.J. Kendrick officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and the widow of Cecil Trogdon.

Surviving are daughters, Martha Watson and Nancy Allred, both of Asheboro; sons, Norman Trogdon and Jimmy Trogdon, both of Asheboro, Joe V. Trogdon of Angier, Stanton Trogdon of the home; sisters, Ernie Staley of Archdale, Gertha Tucker of High Point, Beulah Parrish of Sophia, Glenna Graves of Asheboro; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Norman H. Gregson

RANDLEMAN - Norman Howard Gregson, 66, of 5018 Cecil Norman Road, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Providence Friends Meeting, where he was a member, with the Rev. Charles R. Adams and the Rev. Thomas Butt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Navy veteran, taught Sunday School, was a Sunday School superintendent and a member of the Quaker Men of Providence. He was retired from Burlington Industries' aviation department and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Surviving are wife, Margaret Sue Way Gregson of Randleman; son, Dwight Gregson of Randleman; brothers, Thomas Gregson of Greensboro, Allen Gregson of Randleman, Cecil Larry Gregson of Julian; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Bessie L. Wall

SOPHIA - Bessie Lilly Wall, 85, of 1839 Piedmont Dairy Drive, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Terry Kersey officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County and a retired textile worker.

Surviving are brother, Bud Wall of Sophia; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Inez T. Garrett

LEVEL CROSS - Inez Rouse Toomes Garrett, 75, of 109 Branson Mill Road, Randleman, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Level Cross Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jerry Mills and the Rev. Mark Andrews officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Cumberland County, the widow of Rev. Thomas Bernard Toomes and retired from J.P. Stevens.

Surviving are husband, Thomas F. Garrett; daughters, Linda T. Blakley of Pleasant Garden, Wanda Jester of Randleman, Ann T. Rush of Greensboro; son, Steve Toomes of Wilmington; stepson, Joseph Garrett of Pleasant Garden; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Robert W. Jones

EAGLE SPRINGS - Robert William "Bob" Jones of 4280 Big Oak Church Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, with the Rev. Robert Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Big Oak Christian Church Cemetery, Eagle Springs.

He was a native of Pennsylvania, formerly worked with Fletcher Industries and was working with Batten Investigation & Security, Forest Creek Golf Club and was a member of Southern Pines Elks Club.

Surviving are wife, Sylvia Cole Jones of Eagle Springs; sister, Beverly Hildesheim of Hatfield, Pa.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Margie R. Lilly

TROY - Margie Robinson Lilly, 46, of 619 Crouch St., died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Chestnut A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. Tyrone Rigsby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County.

Surviving are husband, Joseph "Joe" Lilly Sr. of Mt. Gilead; daughters, Sherry Lilly and Kama Lilly, both of the home; son, Joseph D. Lilly Jr. of the home; sister, Marilyn "Jip" Lilly of Troy; grandfather, Jack Medley of Mt. Gilead; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Harris Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home in Troy and at 347 Northview Road, Mt. Gilead.

Elizabeth K. Fary

PINEHURST - Elizabeth W. Kennedy Fary, 88, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Quail Haven Retirement Village.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, with the Rev. Terry Huffines officiating. Burial will be in Cross Hill Cemetery.

She was a native of Carthage and was a retired Moore County Schools teacher.

Surviving are husband, E. Frank Fary; stepdaughters, Diana Fary of Wake Forest, Millie Coleman of Franklinton; stepsons, E. Frank Fary Jr. of Blowing Rock, Richard Fary of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Malcolm M. McHose III

CARTHAGE - Malcolm Monroe McHose, III "Mackie", 39, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at his home.

He was a native of New Jersey.

Surviving are son, Malcolm M. McHose IV of Bonneau, S.C.; sisters, Ruth M. Wells of Mt. Olive, Terry M. Miller of Southport.

The family will be at the home of Terry Miller, 306 Fodale Ave., Apartment #3, Southport, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, was in charge of local arrangements.

Elaine M. Dupree

WEST END - Elaine McInnis Dupree, 64, of 2191 Carthage Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Duke Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Doubs Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Clarence Garner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a homemaker and a member of Pathway Quartet.

Surviving are husband, Luther G. Dupree of West End; sons, Michael Dupree and Bruce Dupree, both of West End; daughters, Cathy Richardson of Cameron, Tammy Dupree of West End; brothers, Harold McInnis of Salisbury, Cameron McInnis of Jackson Springs; sister, Shirley Prevatt of Concord, Ga.; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Lewis T. Spencer

Lewis Taft Spencer, 91, of 229 Charles Ave., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at his home.

Bessie W. Daniels

RANDLEMAN - Bessie Williams Daniels, 91, of 103 Daniels St., died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David Hamlyn and the Rev. Marion Fulk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill and had taught the children's Sunday School Class.

Surviving are husband, Kenneth "Ken" Daniels of Randleman; son, Kenneth Daniels Jr. of Randleman; daughter, Ann Burrow of Randleman; sister, Dot Shaw of Randleman; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Lois R. Poe

SILER CITY - Lois Gilmore Rives Poe, 92, of 10901 N.C. 902, Bear Creek, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Meroney United Methodist Church, Bear Creek, where she was a member, with the Rev. Warren Owen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, William E. Rives, Gerald Rives and Wilbur Rives, all of Siler City, Donald Rives of Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter, Ruby R. Bouldin of Pittsboro; stepsons, Clarence Poe and Reid Poe, both of Bear Creek; stepdaughter, Beva Lee Thomas of Bear Creek; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of the daughter, 2259 U.S. 64 West, Pittsboro.

Lewis T. Spencer

Lewis Taft Spencer, 91, of 229 Charles Ave., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Center Christian Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Stokes County, a retired farmer, was formerly employed with Clyde Lucas Furniture and was a former night watchman for Oliver Rubber Co. and Klaussner Furniture Industries.

Surviving are wife, Emma E. Spencer; son, Bruce A. Spencer of Asheboro; daughters, Pearlie Robbins, Lena Mae Anderson, Shirley Stutts and JoAnn Frye, all of Asheboro, Frances Lambert of Franklinville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Roy L. Beane

RANDLEMAN - Roy Lee Beane, 75, of 2373 Spring Garden Court, Sophia, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at his daughter's home at 4934 Branson Davis Road, Sophia.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. James Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Deep River Dye in Randleman and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are stepmother, Minnie Beane of Asheboro; daughters, Elaine Beane of Asheboro, Cathy B. Garrett of Summerville, S.C., Cindy B. Haney of Sophia, Lisa "Peanut" Swaney of Level Cross; sons, Roy Odell Beane and Howard Cotton Beane, both of the home; sisters, Clara Mae Harvell of Troy, Inez Camp and Edith Vestal, both of Randleman, Marie Jennings of Greensboro; brothers, Calvin Beane and Junior Vestal, both of Sophia, Robert Beane, Winford Vestal and Buck Vestal, all of Randleman; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Cindy B. Haney, 4934 Branson Davis Road, Sophia.

SILER CITY - Thelma Gaines Stutts, 92, of 57 Stone St., died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with Elder Elmer Smith and Elder James Moody officiating. Burial will be in the Gaines Grove Family Cemetery, Goldston.

She was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker and a member of Gaines Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Mildred Hart, Mary Stutts and Blanche Birchett, all of Siler City, Virginia Birchett of Mebane; son, Ralph Gaines of Asheboro; stepdaughter, Alice Frazier of Staley; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

Dr. James H. Loman

SALISBURY - Rev. Dr. James Harold Loman, 82, of 1135 Briarwood Terrace, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Wesleyan Church, Salisbury, with the Rev. Ernest Mullins, the Rev. Lane Loman, the Rev. Richard Loman and the Rev. Max Allman officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro.

He was a native of Guilford County, a graduate of People's Bible College, Greensboro, and of Clarksville School of Theology, Clarksville, Tenn., with a doctorate. He was a former owner/operator of Loman's Funeral Home, Greensboro, and pastor and evangelist for the Wesleyan Church and director of Lights of Spiritual Guidance Radio broadcasts for 62 years. He was a charter member of the Iron Dukes Club, Duke University, a Civil Air Patrol chaplain, and a former Lieutenant Colonel, Aide De Camp and on the Governor's staff in Georgia.

Surviving are wife, Pearl Elizabeth Crabtree Loman; sons, James Larry Loman of San Antonio, Texas, the Rev. Richard Lynn Loman and Edward Leslie Loman, both of Salisbury, the Rev. Harold Lane Loman of Greensboro; daughter, Janice Marie Allman of Burlington; sisters, Eula Bryson of High Point, Rachel Rice of Greensboro, Maybeth Scruggs of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 5-8 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Leslie Loman, 1210 Landover Drive, Salisbury.

Summersett Funeral Home, Salisbury, is in charge of the arrangements.

Louise P. Parnell

ABBEVILLE, S.C. - Louise Parks Parnell, 83, of 105 Nickles St., died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Smyrna Cemetery in Lowndesville, S.C., with the Rev. Philip Chandler officiating.

She was a native of Ramseur, the widow of Preston C. Parnell, a retired paralegal secretary, was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving is brother, Sidney D. Parks of Burlington.

The family will be at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville, S.C., 1-2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
