Ada Wingard Sturkie, 84, of Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Asheboro, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at her residence.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home Asheboro Chapel, with the Rev. Andrew P. Grose officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Richmond County Memorial Park, Rockingham.
She was a native of Lexington, S.C., a member of Edge Baptist Church in Gladys, Va., retired from Burlington Industries and the widow of Everette R. Sturkie.
Surviving are daughters, Helen S. Grose of Lynchburg, Va., and Ellen S. Wood of Asheboro; sister, Valerie Raines of Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County and a member of Glenola Baptist Church.

He was a native of Alamance County, retired after 20 years from the U.S. Army, was a computer programmer, a former basketball and track coach at Jordan Matthews High School and a former Sunday School teacher at his church.
