LIBERTY - Ruby Mae Smith Bass, 71, died Friday, April 14, 2000 at Hospice of Alamance Caswell in Burlington.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Liberty, with the Rev. Lynn Cash officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.
She was a Virginia native, a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kimesville, a homemaker and the widow of Hanibal "Sam" Bass.
Surviving are daughters, Lorraine Hoy of Greensboro, Jean Pickens of Burlington and Mary Dunn of Siler City; sister, Florence Hite of South Boston, Va.; brothers, Charles R. Smith of Phenix, Va., and Horace P. Smith of Charlottesville, Va.; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday.

William Hurt "Pat" Patterson, 71, of 6 Forrest Brook Circle, Asheboro, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Flaggstaff Memorial Hospital, Flaggstaff, Ariz.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church of Randleman, where he was a member.
He was a native of Virginia and attended Beneditine Military School in Richmond, Va.
Surviving are wife, Hazel Saul Patterson of Asheboro; daughters, Patricia Blake of Statesville, Sue Ann Nelson of Roanoke, Va.; son, Pastor Rocky Patterson of Asheboro; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

CARTHAGE - Robert Lee "Bill" Bibey, 69, of 2661 Niagara-Carthage Road, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at his home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Holly Grove Primitive Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, with Elder Ted Morton, Elder David Hogan, Elder Gurney Nance and Elder Staley, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Moore County, a former Whispering Pines police officer, a retired volunteer of Whispering Pines Rescue and a retired farmer.
Surviving are wife, Nancy Bibey; daughters, Dianne Dupree and Jayne McGill, both of Southern Pines, Pam Taylor of Carthage and Gwen Laskowski of McHenry, Ill.; sons, Stephen Bibey, Jerry Bibey and Richard Bibey, all of Carthage; sisters, Gorria Johnson of Vass and Lillie Nance of Asheboro; brother, James Bibey of Carthage; 18 grandchildren.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a retired school teacher, an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a life-long member of Page Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are husband, James Everette Sheffield Sr. of Biscoe; son, James Everette Sheffield Jr. of Asheboro; daughter, Ann Sheffield of Charlotte; one grandchild.

He was a native of Chatham County and was employed as a Psycho-Social Rehabilitation teacher with Guilford County Mental Health in Greensboro.
Surviving are brothers, Jeffrey Lynn Adcock of Bear Creek and Brian Keith Adcock of Siler City; sisters, Betty Diane Armstrong and Tonyia Adcock, both of Siler City.

He was a native of Ardmore, Md., retired from the U.S. Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant after 20 years, was a Korean Conflict and Vietnam War veteran and was retired from Brady Trane Service of Greensboro after 20 years.
Surviving are wife, Violet M. Busey of the home; daughter, Teresa Lynn Busey of Randleman; son, Mark W. Busey of Southmont; brother, Charles A. Busey of Nanjemoy, Md.; one grandchild.
