BEAR CREEK - Nathaniel "Frank" Oldham, 68, of 1278 Bonlee Carbonton Road, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bear Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bob Wachs and the Rev. Manuel Cunnup officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, a former trustee, Sunday School Superintendent and choir director at his church and he was retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Surviving are wife, Elsie "Becky" Oldham of Bear Creek; sons, Dennis E. Oldham and Dale A. Oldham, both of Bear Creek, Danny M. Oldham of Goldston; brothers, W.C. Oldham and Joe E. Oldham, both of Bear Creek; sister, Barbara Oldham Cook of Siler City; half sisters, Myrtie Clark of Pittsboro, Billie Cockman of Charlotte, Allene Rayle and Madeline O'Neal, both of Augusta, Ga.; four granddaughters.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Ruby C. Hogan
STAR - Ruby Criscoe Hogan, 69, of 113 W. Bank St., died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Biscoe Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Beaver officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a retired registered nurse from Brian Nursing Center of Asheboro.

Surviving are son, Mike Criscoe of Biscoe; brother, J.C. Criscoe of Star; two grandsons.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Mildred H. Robinson
ROBBINS - Mildred Holbert Robinson, 95, of Pinehurst Nursing Center and formerly of Bennett, died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the Center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was a native of Vermont and a homemaker.

Surviving are stepson, Charles Nelson Robinson of Robbins; stepdaughters, Louise R. Garner and Lorena R. Brown, both of Robbins, Dorothy R. Purvis of Bennett; stepgrandaughter, Dougie Brown Williams with whom she had lived; 13 other stepgrandchildren.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Robbins is in charge of the arrangements.

Walter H. Gray Sr.
ARCHDALE - Walter Harrison Gray Sr., 80, of 3127 Spencer Drive, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenola Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Douglas Davis and Dr. Norman Livengood officiating. Burial will be in Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery.

He was a native of Orange County, the widower of Hazel Spencer and was retired from Southern Die Casting & Engineering.

Surviving are sons, Walter Harrison Gray Jr. and Phillip Reese Gray, both of Randleman, Larry Wayne Gray of Trinity, Sidney Michael Gray of Wichita, Texas; sister, Edith Osborne of Pleasant Garden; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Paul J. Smith
RAMSEUR - Paul James Smith, 74, of 7845 N.C. 64 East, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey's Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jonathan Shook and Dr. Mike McClure officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Cross Christian Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Klaussner Furniture Industries and was the owner of Ramseur Family Care.

Surviving are wife, Edith J. Smith of the home; daughters, Carol Smith, Shirley Collins, Bobbie Janette Burrow and Becky Cox, all of Asheboro, Martha Long of Rockingham, Catherine Paulette Walters of Kenly; sons, Earl Smith and Richard D. Smith, both of Franklinville, Aubrey Smith, of Asheboro, Keith Smith of De Leon Springs, Fla.; sisters, Opal Kirkman of Fayetteville, Mabel Burrow, Elizabeth Garren, Doris Henson, Betty Park and Faye York, all of Asheboro, Virginia Cox of Ramseur, Barbara Davis of Seagrove; brothers, Raymond Smith, Roger Smith and J.W. "Bud" Smith, all of Asheboro, Harold Smith of Franklinville; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Ernest R. Montain
GREENSBORO - Ernest Robert Montain, 41, of 5625 Newman Davis Road, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Annie Penn Hospital, Reidsville.

Memorial service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Bill Schwan officiating.

He was a native of Summerville, Ga., employed with H.B. Zachry in Reidsville, formerly employed with North State Chevrolet in Greensboro and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Angela Warren Montain of the home; daughter, Jodie Silvey of Camp Fish Lake, Ala.; sister, Jean Hamilton of Rome, Ga.; brother, Jimmy Wayne Montain of Rome, Ga.; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Guy O. Boggs
NORTH WILKESBORO - Guy Otto Boggs, 89, of Main Street, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Britthaven of Wilkesboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, North Wilkesboro, with the Rev. Paul Laws, the Rev. Paul Siceloff and the Rev. Marvin Beashears officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro.

He was a native of Ashe County, a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ashe County, a former Ashe County corrections officer and a former member of the Ashe County School Board.

Surviving are sons, Wiley Boggs and Carl Boggs, both of North Wilkesboro, Ruby Furr of Asheboro, Ruth Call of North Wilkesboro; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Maude T. Davis
Maude Tickle Davis, 97, of 919 Mack Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Mark C. Beane and the Rev. A.J. Kendrick officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Surry County, the widow of Charles H. Davis, a homemaker and a member of Asheboro First Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are sons, Clarence W. Davis and William W. "Bill" Davis, both of Asheboro; sisters, Gertrude Bolton of Asheboro, Callie Linthicum of Randleman; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Marian Plimpton
Marian Plimpton, 79, of 2732 Old Stagecoach Road, Asheboro, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at her home.

No funeral services will be held.

She was a native of New Jersey and a retired LPN.

Surviving are sons, Robert Allen Plimpton of the home, Ronald A. Plimpton of Charlotte, John Henry Plimpton of Glen Gardner, N.J.; sister, June Williams of Easton, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Robert J. York
Robert James York, 57, of 1347 Billy Walker Road, Asheboro, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Science Hill Friends Meeting, where he was a member, with the Rev. Allen Bullard and the Rev. Ray Lambe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, employed with Energizer Battery for 27 years and was a Sunday School teacher at his church.

Surviving are wife, Jane Little York; sons, Randy James York and Darren Keith York, both of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Patricia W. Hatcher
ROCKINGHAM - Patricia Williams Hatcher, 53, of 231 7th Ave., died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at her home.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Jesus First Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Frank McQuage, the Rev. Jerry Smith and the Rev. Marshall Norris officiating. Burial will be in Richmond Memorial Park.

She was a native of Richmond County and employed with Imperial Food.

Surviving are husband, Albert Hatcher of Rockingham; sons, Albert Hatcher Jr. and Michael Hatcher, both of Rockingham.

The family will be at the church 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

RANDLEMAN - Barbara Loree Powell, 43, of 1931 Wicker Lovell Road, Lot # 2, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. A.J. Kendrick officiating.

She was a native of Prince William County Va. and formerly employed with Black & Decker in Asheboro.

Surviving are husband, Timothy Wayne Powell of Randleman; son, Craig Powell of the home; daughter, Melissa Rogers-White of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; mother, Shirleene Woodie Jenkins of Kannapolis; stepfather, Hazel Jenkins of Kannapolis; grandmother, Lacie Woodie of Salisbury; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 10 a.m.-noon Friday.

FRANKLINVILLE - William Donald Andrews, 67, of 426 E. Main St., died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Carlos B. Keller
SILER CITY - Carlos B. Keller, 74, of 370 Sam Lowe Road, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rocky River Friends Meeting, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Betsy S. Keller of the home; daughter, Sandy Bryant of Siler City; son, Ray Keller of Siler City; sisters, Gertrude Wicker, Inez Moon, Nannie Mae Hinshaw, Lottie Carter and Janice Lowe; brother, Garland Keller; two grandchildren.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a retired school teacher.

Ledwell of the home; daughter, Alycia Shaw of Greensboro; sons, James "June Bug" Ledwell of Asheboro, and Eric Ledwell of Wilmington; brother, Glenn Barrett of Tacoma, Wash.; sisters, Kathy McCain of Tacoma, Wash., Beverly Lilly of Mt. Gilead and Shelia Perry of Biscoe; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Hoods Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Biscoe, 7-8 p.m. Saturday.

She was a Randolph County native, a homemaker and was active in her church in several departments.

Surviving are husband, H. Leatus Bray of Siler City; daughters, Nancy Bray Adkins of Charlotte and Becky A. Bray of Siler City; brothers Diffie O. Wright of Asheboro and Dewey Wright of Ramseur; sister, Thelma W. Hill of Asheboro.

He was a Randolph County native, a former member of the Franklinville Town Board, a member of Woodmen of the World, and retired from Randolph Mills.

Surviving are wife, Dorothy B. Curtis of the home; son William Henry Curtis of Charlotte; sister, Maggie Moffitt of Charlotte.

FRANKLINVILLE - William Donald Andrews, 67, of 426 E. Main St., died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Franklinville, where he was a member, with the Rev. Kenneth McNeill and the Rev. Junior Dawkins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was an Indiana native, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, former mayor and former chief of police of Franklinville, a member of the N.C. Sheriff's Association, and retired from the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.

Surviving are sons, Mike Andrews and Rick Andrews, both of Franklinville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Friday, and other times at the home of Rick Andrews, 188 Rose St., Franklinville.

Eulah Mae Hathaway, 69, of 127 Charles Ave., Asheboro, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday, at the Beane Family Cemetery, with Dr. Richard Crider officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County, an OB Nurse with both Randolph and Montgomery Hospitals, a supervisor at Smart Style and of the Historic Adventist faith.

Surviving are husband, Richard Paul Hathaway; sisters, Lora Lowry of Mesa, Ariz., Effie Auman of Star, Dorothy Ester Garren, Thelma Carrick, Beulah Hiatt and Treva Harkness, all of Asheboro; brothers, Roy Beane of Star and Sherman Earl Beane of Asheboro.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 1:30-2 p.m. Friday.
