Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, with Dr. Ronald S. Pierce and the Rev. Van. E. Brinkley officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was a native of Montgomery County, retired from Chapman Jewelry and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Philathea Sunday School class.
Surviving are husband, W. Vernon Chapman of the home; daughter, Joy Moyer of Doylestown, Pa.; son, Richard Chapman of Thomasville; sisters, Eva Stout, Margaret Maddox, both of Greensboro; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

SOPHIA - Howard Simmie Eury, 69, of 3301 Beckerdite Road, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cumby Mortuary, Archdale, with the Rev. Carroll M. Upton officiating. Entombment will be in Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Raleigh.
He was at native of Mecklenburg County, retired from Pitney-Bowes, Inc. in Greensboro and was a Korean War U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Winston Masonic Lodge 167 AF and AM in Winston-Salem and of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and a bluegrass fiddler who played for residents in nursing homes.
Surviving are wife, Carroll Walls Eury of the home; daughter, Jenny Eury of Raleigh; stepdaughter, Teresa Lewis of Elon College; stepson, Cary Slack of Franklinville.
The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday.

He was a native of Providence, R.I., a tool and die maker and a retired engineer with the space program in Melbourne, Fla. and was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and a member of the Brotherhood and Young at Heart Senior Citizens at his church. He was a member of Silk Hope Ruritan Club and Doric Lodge 38 A.F. & A.M., Providence.
Surviving are wife, Helen Wilks Machon; sons, Wayne Machon of Oxford, Donald Machon of South Deerfield, Ma.; daughters, Diane Morissette of Melbourne, Fla., Carol Atwood of Richmond, Va.; brother, A.T. Machon Jr. of Melbourne, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
