He was a native of Chatham County and an employee of Kimbrells Furniture Company.

MURRAY, Ky. - Guynell Morris Williams, 74, of 1025 Chapel Road, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Thursday at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Murray, Ky., with the Rev. John Dale officiating. Burial was in McCuiston Cemetery.
She was a native of Stewart County, Tenn., a retired physical therapist and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are daughters, Brenda S. Campbell of Asheboro, Sherry L. Sims of Little Rock, Ark., Donna K. Williams of Greensboro; four grandchildren.

MT. GILEAD - Simon Myers, 84, of 882 Bruton-Carpenter Road, Wadeville, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Clarks Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in Bruton Cemetery.
He was a native of Eastover, S.C., a World War II veteran, a deacon, Sunday School teacher, trustee and a member of the finance and pulpit committees. He attended Winston-Salem Barber College, was a licensed barber, was on the West Montgomery High advisory committee, a board member of the Wadeville Community Organization, the first black registrar of voters, a precinct judge for Wadeville and a member of Masonic Lodge #196.
Surviving are wife, Viva Bruton Myers of Wadeville; daughters, Vivian Diana Johnson of Augusta, Ga., Naomi S. Feaste of Raleigh; sons, Talbert Myers of Durham, Carl Elliott Myers of Brentwood, Tenn.; sister, Florence Myers of St. Albans, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; one adoptive granddaughter; one great-grandson.

She was a native of Lynchburg, Va., the widow of Herman Colon Cheek, a homemaker, was of the Presbyterian faith and was a House Mother for The Presbyterian Home of Lynchburg, Va. for many years.
Surviving are daughters, Elsie C. Scotton of Staley, June C. Wright of Burlington; son, Herman W. Cheek of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Dolores Manuel of Asheville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Pittsylvania County, Va. and retired from Union Carbide after 36 years.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Jacquelyn Young, a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal from the Army. He retired from Wausau Insurance Company, was a member of Archdale United Methodist Church and of the Friendship Class, was an honorary member of the Tennessee Lieutenant Governor's Staff and a member of the North Carolina Walking Horse Association.
Surviving are daughters, Sue Howard of High Point, Vicki Bean of Wallburg, Diana Snyder of Greensboro; sisters, Evelyn Travis of Slidell, La., Janet Dugger of High Point; brothers, Don Snyder of Cummings, Ga., Charles Snyder of College Grove, Tenn.; four granddaughters.
