Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur, with the Rev. Buddy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro.
He was a Randolph County native and was employed with Union Carbide in Asheboro.
Surviving are wife, Evelyn Isom Bowman of the home; sons, Kenneth Bowman of Seagrove and Roger Bowman of Farmer; daughter, Cindy Shepherd of Denton; brother, Junior Bowman of Liberty; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

THOMASVILLE - Odell Emerson Haney, 84, of 406 Griffith St., Thomasville, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Community General Hospital, Thomasville.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Ray Whittington officiating.
He was a Guilford County native, retired from Highland Cotton Mill, owner of Haney's Variety Store, widower of Rachel Tomlin Haney and a member of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Frank (Faye) Honeycutt of Franklinville and Dorothy Bradshaw and Carol Parrish, both of Thomasville; son, Garland Haney of the home; brother, Clyde Haney of High Point; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home.

SILER CITY - Mary Jane Brownlee Selig LaRue, 83, of 202 E. 9th St., Siler City, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Piney Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Siler City, with the Rev. Eddie Mishoe officiating.
She was a native of New Jersey, retired from Kellwood and attended Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are son, Herbert G. Selig of Siler City; sister, Edith B. Kellman of Hollywood, Fla.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Ave., Siler City, one hour prior to the service.

DENTON - Marvin Homer Varner, 84, of 976 Ridges Mountain Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, July 1, 2000.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home Chapel, Denton. Burial will be in Hughes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was a Davidson County native, a farmer and a member of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are brother, Luther "Tom" Varner of the home; sister, Lillie Cooper of Thomasville.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a retired secretary and a member of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are husband, James C. Hughes of the home; sons, James S. Hughes of Concord and Richard Keith Hughes of Creedmoor; daughter, Delena Ann Rosie of Chesapeake, Va.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of Robert L. Creech Jr., a homemaker and a former employee of McCrary Hosiery Mill.
Surviving are son, Ron Creech of Greensboro and Virginia Beach, Va.; daughter, Rebecca Parks of Charleston, S.C.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Sampson County, the widow of J. B. Ward Jr., the retired co-owner and operator of Ranch House Furniture and was a charter member of The Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving are stepson, Jerry Ward of Asheboro; brother, Jessie Franklin Lee of Monroe; three stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of American Legion Post #277 and was retired from Siler City Drug Store after 35 years.
Surviving are sons, Larry Cheek of Siler City, Rodney Cheek of Marietta, Ga.; foster daughter, Annie Ruth Siler of Siler City; sisters, Beatrice Wilkerson and Mahalia Parker, both of Woodbury, N.J., Pauline Hardy of Wilson, Callie Waddell of Sanford, Celia Brown of Coleridge, Sylvinia Herring of Goldsboro, Margaret Edwards of Siler City; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Tuesday at Morganton Baptist Church in Burlington, where he was once a member, with the Rev. Steven Clay and the Rev. Thomas Miles officiating. Burial will be on Wednesday morning at Sweet Gum Baptist Church cemetery in Caswell County.
He was a native of Alamance County and employed with the Mount Vernon Police Department, Mount Vernon, N.Y.
Surviving are daughters, Lena L.W. Baynes and Theresa A. Williamson, both of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; son, Frank L. Williamson of Albany, Ga.; six grandchildren.
