YANCEYVILLE - Charles Morris Reynolds, 72, of Brian Center, Asheboro, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service was 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Yanceyville United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Herman Chambers officiating.

He was a native of Troy, a Korean War veteran and a member of Yanceyville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are sister, Cindy R. Rowland of Roxboro; brothers, Jim Reynolds of Yanceyville, William F. Reynolds of Star.

Marley Funeral Home, Yanceyville, was in charge of the arrangements.

SILER CITY - Jean Johnson Ellington, 64, of 654 Bay Shore Drive, Bolivia, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at New Hanover Hospital, Wilmington.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at South Fork Friends Church, Snow Camp, with the Rev. Jon Reece, the Rev. Billy Joe Brady and the Rev. David Mashburn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County, attended South Fork Friends Meeting and was retired from Selig Manufacturing Company, Siler City.

Surviving are husband, Billy C. Ellington of Bolivia; sons, Billy "Carson" Ellington and Jimmy Ellington, both of Pittsboro; daughters, Vicky E. Bray of Siler City, Patty Thomas of Sanford; mother, Louise Guthrie Johnson of Pittsboro; brothers, Robert Lee Johnson of Murfreesboro, Jessie Earl Johnson of Pittsboro; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Carson Ellington, 1220 Van Thomas Road, Pittsboro.

Wilmer F. Bauer Sr.
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Wilmer Frederick Bauer Sr., 88, of Delray Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Babione-Stephenson Funeral Home, Lantana, Fla. Burial will be in Palm Beach Memorial Park Cemetery, Lantana, Fla.

Surviving are son, Wilmer F. Bauer Jr.; sister, Gertrude B. Yeager; brother, Kenneth W. Bauer of Asheboro; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service.

Isabelle H. Sexton
ASHEBORO - Isabelle Hughes Sexton, 87, of 121 N. High St., Asheboro, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. William Christopher Thore officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Wayne Sexton, a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross.

Surviving are sister, Alice H. Kivett of Asheboro; brothers, Tommy Hughes and Clarence Hughes, both of Asheboro.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of her sister, 609 Holly St., Asheboro.

DENTON - Gladys Fine Surratt, 83, of N.C. 8 South, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Mountain Vista Health Park, Denton.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Alleghany United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Peter McGuire officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County and the widow of Archie L. Surratt.

Surviving are son, Rev. Raymond Surratt of Huntersville; daughter, Shirley Snow of Elon College; sister, Helen Snider of Denton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 5-7 p.m. Sunday.

CARTHAGE - Richard Elton "Ricky" Spivey, 38, of 136 Spivey Road, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2000.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Putnam Friends Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Ernest Moore and the Rev. Sam Deahl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, and a mechanic.

Surviving are wife, Sandra Pickle Spivey of the home; daughter, Shanna Spivey of the home; sons, Richard E. Spivey II, Jasper Spivey and Nicholas Spivey, all of the home; parents, Lendon E. and Helen Britt Spivey of Carthage; sister, Linda S. Taylor of Carthage; brother, John L. Spivey of Carthage.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Walter H. Overton
EAGLE SPRINGS - Walter Henry Overton, 56, of 13391 N.C. 24-27, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at New Birth Church of the Living God, with the Rev. Bucky Davis officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

He was employed as a fixer at Springs Textile Mill.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church, Asheboro, where she was a member, with the Rev. Chris Thore officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.

She was a native of Bowling Green, Ky., the widow of Isaac Hilliard Nance, and was retired from the Asheboro City Schools.

Surviving are daughters, Susan Lowdermilk of Raleigh, Ellen Hamilton of Richmond, Ky., Patti Nance of Knightdale, Robin Trogdon of Asheboro, Hilda Roe of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Barbara English of Martinsville, Va.; brother, Robert Markham of Chester, Va.; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Trogdon, 1234 Ashworth Road Ext., Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - James Homer Bingham, 88, of 1923 Goldhill Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation.

Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Giles Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert L. Kidd officiating.

He was a member of Giles Chapel United Methodist Church, formerly worked for Nance Chevrolet and was retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Surviving are wife, Anna Belle Bingham of Asheboro; brother, Bill Bingham of Spencer.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

She was a native of Robeson County and a homemaker.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Larry Johnson and Raiford Brown officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church of Seagrove.

Surviving are husband, J.D. Williams of Asheboro; sons, Jimmy Williams of Leonardtown, Md., Tommy Williams of Franklinville; daughter, Nancy Carol Roberts of the home; sister, Carrie Riley of High Point; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Carl Garner, the Rev. Raymond Needham and the Rev. Terry Hinson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, the Rev. Diffie O. Wright; daughters, Patricia Ann W. Kirkman and Janet W. Smith, both of Greensboro, Peggy W. Hawkins of Summerfield; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Janet Smith, 1431 Wiley Lewis Road, Greensboro.

He was a native of Stokes County, was retired from Sam W. Smith Construction, attended Bethel United Methodist Church and was a Marine Corps veteran.

Surviving are wife, Pauline Craven Mabe of the home; daughter, Dezra Mabe Fields of Greensboro; sisters, Marie Suits of High Point, Mattie Fleming of Liberty, Treva Mabe of Greensboro; brother, William Vance Mabe of Binghampton, N.Y.

He was a native of Robeson County, retired from Walker Shoe Company, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and he attended United Pentecostal Church.

Williams of the home; daughter, Patty Harper of Henderson; sons, Harold Williams of Stedman, Larry Williams of Fayetteville; stepdaughters, Alicia Lindley of Snow Camp, Mary Grubb of Greensboro, Virginia Pugh and Rebecca Dunn, both of Asheboro; stepsons, Michael Welch of Denton, Joseph Dunn of Asheboro; brother, Elmer Williams of Lumberton; five grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Chatham County and was retired from Randolph Mills after 30 years.

Surviving are son, Tony Grose of Columbia, S.C.; sister, Effie Patterson of Franklinville; four grandchildren; one great-grandson.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Harry Lamonds and was a retired textile worker and homemaker.

Surviving are one grandson; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
