TRAPHILL - Jackie Ray Adams, 59, of 1087 King Billings Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at his home.

Graveside service was 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Mike Hall and the Rev. Ivan Dameron officiating.

He was a native of Wilkes County and a farmer.

Surviving are sisters, Betty Burchette of Thurmond, Sue Edwards of Elkin, Ruth Wright and Janie Pegram, both of Asheboro; brother, Dickie Adams of Roaring River.

Kennedy Funeral Home, Elkin, is in charge of the arrangements.

Clyde O. McGee
NEWTON - Clyde Oliver McGee, 88, of 403 N. Spring Ave., died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Hospice House.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Newton, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Gary and the Rev. Brant Hoots officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.

He was a native of Catawba County, a retired supervisor with Century Furniture in Hickory; a former deacon, a Sunday School teacher and an usher at his church; and was a member of the Newton Lions Club.

Surviving are wife, Edna Robinson McGee of the home; daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy" M. Gray of Asheboro, Diane M. Byrd of Winston-Salem; son, John Oliver McGee of Newton; brothers, Noah McGee of Conover, Mervin McGee of Newton; six grandsons; two great-granddaughters.

The family will be at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home, Newton, 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

RAMSEUR - Ruth G. Woods of N.C. 49 North died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakland Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Oakland-McCrary cemetery.

Surviving are great-nephew, Chad E. Spencer of the home; brother, Clyde Goldston of Ramseur; sisters, Bettye Matthews and Teresa Cheek, both of Ramseur.

The family will be at the church 6-8 p.m. Friday.

SEAGROVE - Eugene McCaskill McNeill, 84, of 7806 Union Grove Church Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church, where he was member, with the Rev. Ron Copple and the Rev. Grady Blakely officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Weeks Construction and was a member of Asheboro Masonic Lodge #699.

Surviving are daughters, Jean M. Evans of Greer, S.C., Catherine M. Abbott of Taylors, S.C.; brothers, Page G. McNeill, Stanley R. McNeill, both of Seagrove; sister, Clara M. Burgin of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be in the church fellowship hall after the service.

MT. GILEAD - Shirley O'Neil Craven, 69, of 168 Melton Grove Church Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at her home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Melton Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Alex Willoughby officiating.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a retired professional.

Surviving is brother, Bobby Craven of Mt. Gilead.

MT. GILEAD - Myra Royal DeBerry, 94, of East First Street, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Hospital, Troy.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sharon Cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Harris officiating.

She was a native of Dunn, the widow of Lyman DeBerry and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead.

Surviving are son, Lyman DeBerry Jr. of Greensboro; two grandchildren; four great-granddaughters.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Bessie E. Baldwin
RANDLEMAN - Bessie Edna Baldwin, 92, of 3377 Tom Brown Road, Franklinville, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Franklinville, where she was a member, with the Rev. Roy Sides officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was retired from Worthville Mills and was a quilt maker.

Surviving are sisters, Florence Williams and Swana Baldwin, both of Franklinville; brother, Millard Filmore Baldwin of Franklinville.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Kennith J. Manring
RANDLEMAN - Kennith Johnson Manring, 71, of 500 Sunset Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at New Salem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Whittington and the Rev. Phillip Talton officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill and attended New Salem Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Jean H. Manring of Randleman; son, Ronnie Manring of Randleman; daughter, Elaine Manring of Franklinville; sisters, Ruth Stroud of High Point, Mary Brown of Thomasville, Pat Hinshaw of Trinity; brother, Ray Manring of Thomasville.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Colvin F. Brower
TRINITY - Colvin Franklin "Bud" Brower, 77, of 3365 Miller Farm Drive, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with the Rev. Chris Bennett and the Rev. Hearth Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell United Methodist Church cemetery.

He was a native of Norman, a World War II and Korean War U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from the Navy as a chief damage controller after 21 years, and he owned and operated Bud's Produce for 12 years.

Surviving are wife, Dorothy Floyd Brower of the home; daughter, Cathy B. Schober of Asheboro; sons, Baxter Franklin Brower and Foster T. Brower, both of Greensboro; brother, J. Cliff Brower of Archdale; sisters, Faye Allen of Star, Margaret Comer of Seagrove, Iris Hill, Clara Nance and Colleen Bulla, all of Asheboro; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Blanche B. Frazier
FRANKLINVILLE - Blanche Brown Frazier, 72, of 156 Depot St., died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Bennett, with the Rev. Tom Hill and Kenneth H. Huggins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of J. C. Frazier, was retired from Randolph Mills and she was the owner/operator of Frazier Groceries.

Surviving are daughter, Betty F. Boger of Franklinville; sisters, Lois B. White of Siler City, Pauline B. Lednum and Edna B. Sams, both of Asheboro; brothers, Larry Brown of Siler City, Lester Brown of Salisbury; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Jerry B. Ledwell Sr.
RAMSEUR - Jerry Bingham Ledwell Sr., 61, of 637 Oliver St., died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Justus McKeel and the Rev. Gene Booker officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Navy veteran, a design draftsman, was a Ramseur Town Commissioner, was with the Ramseur Fire Department and he was a member of Asheboro Friends Meeting.

Surviving are wife, Gaynell Hutchens Ledwell of the home; son, Jerry Bingham Ledwell Jr. of Ramseur; daughter, Angela L. Norwood of Coleridge; sister, Betty Way of Seagrove; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the home 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

SILER CITY - Wilbert A. "Bill" Coble Sr. of 1000 Harold Andrews Road, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Barry Gray officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired landscaper.

Surviving are wife, Lucille Siler Coble of the home; sons, Wilbert A. Coble Jr., Bennie B. Coble, both of Staley, Parker Vann Coble of Siler City; sister, Wheatley McClendon of Staley; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

ROBBINS - Ethel Grissom Melton, 86, of 180 Sunset Drive, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in Florence, S.C.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. William Hancock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Roy C. Melton and was retired from Pine Hosiery Co. in Ether.

Surviving are sons, Marvin Melton of Spartanburg, S.C., Alfred Melton of Effingham, S.C., Wayne Melton of Pinebluff; brothers, Bobby Grissom of Sanford, James Roland Grissom of Vass; sisters, Kathryn G. Boggs, Bernice G. Price, both of Sanford, Virginia G. Wehunt of Delonica, Ga.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Charles G. Wadsworth
CARTHAGE - Charles G. Wadsworth, 76, of 1219 Wadsworth Road, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at his home.

Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. William A. Stewart Jr. officiating.

He was a native of Lee County, a U.S. Army veteran, and was a retired instructor at Central Carolina Community College in Sanford.

Surviving are wife, Edith Dunlop Wadsworth; daughters, Judy Ann Brittain of Charleston, S.C., Betty Jane Thornton of Stoneville; sons, James A. Wadsworth of Savannah, Ga., Thomas M. Wadsworth of Wagram, Robert E. Wadsworth of Pinebluff; sister, Clara Pittman of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be the home.

CAMERON - William "Bill" Briggs, 65, of 1884 Cypress Church Road, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at his home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cypress Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Dr. Richard Rodda officiating.

He was a native of Moore County, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and the retired owner/operator of Briggs Grocery Store.

Surviving are wife, Bebe Barrett Briggs; sons, Gary E. Briggs, Jason Briggs, both of Cameron, Dale G. Briggs of Vass; brother, T. Woody Briggs of Pittsboro; one granddaughter.

The family will be at the home 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

Leonard F. Gray
TRINITY - Leonard Franklin Gray, 68, of 4808 Archdale Road, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Lee Bynum officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.

He was a native of Trinity, was on the trustee board and was a member of the United Methodist Men at his church, and he was employed at Carson International.

Surviving are wife, Rose Monger Gray of the home; sons, Leonard E. Gray of High Point, Terry Gray of Sumter, S.C.; stepson, Russell DeShield of High Point; daughters, Virginia Tate, Tracey Barr, both of Thomasville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 1:30 p m. Monday, other times at the home.

Mildred R. Fogleman
ASHEBORO - Mildred Ann Rumley Fogleman, 86, of 514 Vision Drive, Asheboro, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro. Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. in Graham Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Marvin E. Fogleman, a retired clothing clerk, and a member of Balfour Baptist Church.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Fred Smith, the Rev. Charles Stout and the Rev. Ed Arroyo officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of J.E. Parks, a homemaker and she attended First Assembly.

Surviving are daughters, Barbara King of Greensboro, Brenda Smith of Greenwood, S.C., Dean Parrish of Indian Trail, Marilyn Auman and Deborah Albright, both of Asheboro, Kathy Ingram of Nashville, Ga.; sons, Larry Parks of Asheboro, Dan Parks of Pelzer, S.C.; sisters, Erma Sewell of Laurinburg, Mozelle Briles, Jerri Lucas, and Jennie Teague, all of Asheboro; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Albright, 246 W. Liberty St., Asheboro.
