She was the widow of both Thurman M. Brown and James Edgar Capps.
Surviving are daughter, Doris Jolly of Angier; sons, Bill Brown of Ramseur, Rudy Brown and Joe Capps, both of Angier, Thurman Brown of Lillington, Jimmy Capps of Buies Creek; stepdaughter, Vada Clayton of Durham: 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren.

CAMERON - Robert Lee Collins, 65, of 448 Cranes Creek Road, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Home Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Moore County and retired from Ben Har in Sanford.

DENVER - James Allen Hall, 70, of 2586 Ranger Island Road, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at his home.
Service was 4 p.m. Monday at Westport Baptist Church, Denver, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Hardin, the Rev. Jerry Rogers and the Rev. Albert Helms officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Army veteran and employed in hotel management.
Surviving are wife, Leona Wright Hall of the home; daughter, Darlene Nichols of Cary; stepsons, Randy Mungo, Allen Mungo, both of Denver; father, Troy Hall of Asheboro; brothers, Addison Earl Hall, Forrest Hall, both of Asheboro, Norman Hall of Sophia; seven stepgrandchildren.

Charles R. Ross
LILLINGTON - Charles Reid Ross, 93, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at Heritage Suites in Fayetteville.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lillington Presbyterian Church, with Dr. William Goodnight, Dr. Arthur Ross III and Dr. William H. Terry officiating. Burial will be in Summerville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Lillington, the widower of Christine Fields Ross, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with bachelor's and master's degree in education and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a teacher and administrator in Hatteras, a teacher, a basketball coach and principal in Lenoir County, and superintendent of Fayetteville City Schools and the Harnett County Schools, where he was also assistant superintendent. He was twice president of the N.C. High School Athletic Association and was appointed by three North Carolina governors to serve on statewide educational study commissions. He was awarded the 1998 Fayetteville State University Civil Rights Humanitarian Award and received awards of merit from the N.C. Association for Retarded Citizens, Cumberland County Mental Health Association and was director of the N.C. Education Association, director of the Division of Superintendents of the N.C. Education Association and national chairman of the Federal Impact Aid superintendents. He was awarded the 1964 Distinguished Citizens Award for Leadership in the Advancement of Education and in 1999, the American Association of School Administrators awarded him one of seven national Distinguished Service Awards in Educational Administration. He was an elder at Lillington Presbyterian Church and Highland Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, where he served as clerk of the Session and President of the Men of the Church. He was moderator of Fayetteville Presbytery, commissioner to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (US), a member of the Board of Visitors of Peace College, Raleigh and Elder Emeritus of Lillington Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Rotary International in Kinston, founder and charter member of the Lillington Rotary Club, a Rotary District Governor, a Paul Harris Fellow and had the C. Reid Ross Rotary Endowment Fund established by the Lillington Rotary Club. He was a legislative liaison for the Division of Superintendents of North Carolina to the N.C. General Assembly and was chairman of the Harnett County Board of Health.
Surviving are daughter, Dr. Sue Fields Ross of Davidson and Cedar Point; brother, Neill McKay Ross of Lillington.

ASHEBORO - George S. Comer, 90, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at SunBridge of Asheboro.

He was a native of Moore County, the widower of Harriet Tillotson Comer, was retired from Klopman-Burlington Mills and was a member of Glenola Baptist Church.

He was a native of Randolph County, was self-employed, a graduate of USC-Sacramento and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was a native of Surry County, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam era who received the National Defense Service medal. He owned and operated residential care homes for the elderly in Robbins for 24 years and owned and operated the Carp Caraway Fishing Lakes in Sophia for the past eight years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the King Bible Sunday School Class and a former R.A. director. He was retired from Burlington Mills, Central Falls Plant, operated Ervin Allred Cleaning Service and was a member of the Asheboro Civitans.

The widow of Roland Lambert, she ministered to the nursery, was a Sunday School teacher, assisted with Bible School and was a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and the Ladies Missionary Group at her church. She was also awarded a plaque by the Autism Society of North Carolina.
Surviving are sons, Ronnie Lambert of Roseboro, Charles Lambert of Robbins; brother, Earnest Harvell of Asheboro; sister, Joselyn Harvell of Florida; three grandchildren.
