Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, at Star Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Phil Staton and the Rev. Ralph Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Ether United Methodist Church cemetery.
She was a native of Montgomery County, a retired cook and homemaker.
Surviving are daughters, Dorothy Sanders of Biscoe, Rebecca Davis of Asheboro; sons, Raymond E. Davis, Darrell Davis, Donald W. Davis, all of Star, Ronald D. Davis of Ether; sister, Lela Mae Davis of Star; brother, Thomas G. Freeman of Asheboro; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

ALBEMARLE - Larry Ray Morton, 53, of 1401 Wedgewood Apts., died Wednesday Nov. 22, 2000, at Stanly Memorial Hospital.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Lovejoy United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. George Harper officiating.
He was a native of Montgomery County, attended Lovejoy UMC and was a retired truck driver.
Surviving are son, Gregory "Greg" Morton of Sneads Ferry; daughters, Martha M. Thompson of Rockwell, Jessica Morton of Candor; mother, Ruth Marie Blalock Morton of Troy; brothers, Dennis Morton, Jerry Morton, Johnny Morton, all of Troy, Frankie Morton of Asheboro; sisters, Brenda Beane of Troy, Ila Hogan of Candor, Linda Carter, Carolyn Taylor, both of Hamlet, Ann Beck of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren.

ROANOKE RAPIDS - Lucille Ferrell Howell, 85, of 436 Washington St., died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Clapps Nursing Home in Asheboro.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, at First United Methodist Church, Roanoke Rapids, where she was a member, with the Rev. William D. Sabiston III officiating. Burial will be in Cedarwood Cemetery.
She was a native of Halifax County, the widow of Robert Taylor Howell, a former employee of J.P. Stevens & Co., a member of the J.R. Edwards Sunday School Class and the Bettie Oakes Circle. She was a charter member of the Halifax Restoration Committee and a member of the Eastern Star, OES 119.
Surviving are daughters, Margaret H. Cooper of Huntersville, Emily H. Matkins of Asheboro; brother, Willard C. Ferrell of Kure Beach; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the church, 10-11 a.m. Monday.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jack Phillips and the Rev. Michael Free officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Montgomery County and was a seamstress with Lynn Dean.

ROBBINS - Paul Wallace, 74, of Mt. Carmel Road, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at his home.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and retired plant manager of Carolina Lace in Robbins.

ASHEBORO - Robert Charles Hoover, 75, of 501 Lewallen Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
He was retired from Sew Special, was a sewing machine mechanics instructor at Randolph Community Coolege and had worked at Servco in Ramseur. He helped start the Ash-Rand Rescue Squad and West Side Fire Department, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are wife, Ruby McNeill Hoover of the home; daughters, Rebekah "Becky" Barnes of High Point, Margie Strider and Joy Hoover, both of Asheboro; sister, Elizabeth Kessler of Asheboro; brothers, Roy Hoover, Coy Hoover, Virgil Hoover, all of Asheboro; one granddaughter.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

He was a native of Guilford County, a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and a U. S. Navy veteran.

DENTON - Ira Thomas "Tom" Johnson Sr., 71, of Forest Park Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Britthaven of Davidson, Thomasville.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Central United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Joe Collins officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Thomasville
He was a native of Thomasville, a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and a member of the Official Board at his church. He worked with Thornton Knitting Company as a plant manager and corporate secretary-treasurer, with Town & County Realty, Thomasville, as a real-estate agent, and as a tax preparer for H&R Block Company and also as an independent tax preparer. He was a graduate of Thomasville High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a U.S. Army veteran and a former member of the Davidson County Board of Education. He was a former member of the Denton Board of Central Carolina Bank, former member of the Community General Hospital Board of Trustees and a former member of the Davidson County Community College Board of Trustees. He was a member and past president of the Denton Lions Club, had served as cabinet secretary of Lions International District 31 and had been a sports writer for the Davidson Record, the Denton Record and the Orator covering Denton and South Davidson High School sports for 40 years.
Surviving are son, Ira Thomas Johnson Jr. of Thomasville; daughter, Virginia Harrison of Denton; sisters, Dorothy Green Jr. of Gainesville, Fla., Helen Kennedy of Thomasville; brothers, Robert L. Johnson of Thomasville, James F. Johnson of Burlington; five grandchildren.
The family will be at the church 2-3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.

She was a native of Rowan County, the widow of William Marshall Vanhoy, attended Rowan County schools and was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Asheboro.

He was a graduate of Troy High School, attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Gilead Manufacturing Corporation after 30 years in sales, customer relations and as traffic manager. He was a member of the Minnie Frutchey Bible Class at his church, a lay speaker for the Methodist church and a Past Master of Blackmer Lodge #127 of Mt. Gilead.
Surviving are wife, Hazelene Hartsell Morris of the home; son, Gregory Morris of Charlotte; daughter, Christy Swain of Raleigh; brother, Austin Morris of Troy; sisters, Mrs. Cecil Troutman of Albemarle, Mrs. Charles Dickens of Concord; one granddaughter.
