ASHEBORO - Essie Thompson Robbins, 79, formerly of Uwharrie Street, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at West Bend United Methodist Church, where she attended, with the Rev. David Noyes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Donald W. Robbins, and was retired from General Electric after 30 years.
Surviving are daughter, Jan R. Braswell of Asheboro; son, Ken D. Robbins of Asheboro; sister, Joyce Conner of Asheboro; brother, Bill Thompson of Asheboro; five grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Lewis Grove Holiness Church. Burial will be in Amos Grove Cemetery.

FRANKLINVILLE - Mildred McNeill Boggs, 73, of 311 Parks St., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Church of God of Prophecy, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jack Kivett and the Rev. Earl West officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Jockey International, and was employed with Fine Line Hosiery.

SILER CITY - Dora Williams Phillips, 67, 13974 N.C. 902, Bear Creek, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Bear Creek, where she was a member, with the Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of New Orleans, La. and was a homemaker.

OCOEE, Fla. - Ultra Lowdermilk Parks, 88, of Hawthorne Cove Drive, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home, Winter Park, Fla.
She was a native of Randolph County, a charter member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, and retired as office manager at Alberta Crate & Box Company.
Surviving are sons, David Parks of Edgewater, Fla., Robert Parks of Titusville, Fla.; sister, Lucy Leigh Wright of Asheboro; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

RAMSEUR - Hansel "Hank" Lee Kennedy, 74, 1382 Church St., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 200O, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with Charles Carter officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Bartlett Nuclear Co. and was both a U.S. Navy and a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in World War II and Korea. He was a member of the VFW.
Surviving are wife, Alice Richardson Kennedy of the home; sons, Winfred Lee Kennedy of Sturgis, Mich., James Dale Kennedy of Franklinville; daughter, Bonnie Kennedy of Raleigh; stepsons, Barry Richardson of Ramseur, Leon Saunders of Troy; brothers, Herman Kennedy of Randleman, Eugene Kennedy of Melbourne, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

He was the widower of Minnie Owens Bivens, a member of Summerville Baptist Church, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and retired from Lexington Furniture Industries Link-Taylor Plant.
Surviving are son, Ray Bivens of Denton; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Lawrence, Mass., retired from Wieman Furniture Mfg., a World War II U.S. Army veteran and of the Catholic faith.

Mt. GILEAD - Elsie Lurine Hannah Henley, 84, of 2738 N.C. 109 South, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at her home.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Sunday, at McAuley Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Joyline A. Howard officiating. Burial was in Thomasville Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was a Montgomery county native, the widow of Walter Webster Henley, and a graduate of Winston-Salem Teachers College. She was a retired educator, having served 29 years in the Montgomery County School System, and was a member of the NCAE and The Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are daughter, Karen Henley Huff of the home; granddaughter, Tanya Dubose of the home; grandson, Terrell Dubose of the home.

Mt. GILEAD - Joe Allen Sneed, 74, of 145 N.C. 731 East, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Hospital, Troy.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Little River United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ben Wilson and the Rev. Alex Willoughby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.
He was a native of Montgomery County, a World War II U.S. Marines veteran and the first fire chief of the Pekin Volunteer Fire Department. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 250 of Pekin for over 25 years and served as church superintendent for over 30 years at Little River United Methodist Church. He was retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation, where he was an equipment operator.
Surviving are wife, Lois Byrd Sneed of the home; son, Frank A. Sneed of Mt. Gilead; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Sneed of Troy; brothers, John Sneed, Bobby Sneed, both of Mt. Gilead; sisters, Mae Dell Sculteis, Betty Sculteis, both of New Bern; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
