SUMMERFIELD - Ernest E. Zerfoss, 87, formerly of Clarksburg, Pa., died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Conemaugh Township, with the Rev. Susan Porch Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.

He was a native of Somerset, Pa., a member of Center Methodist Church, Summerfield, a member of the Ramseur Lions Club, a former member of Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church, Ramseur, and was retired from Federal Laboratories, Tunnelton.

Surviving are son, David R. Zerfoss of Cornelius; brothers, Morris Zerfoss and Ted Eaton, both of Clarksburg, Pa.; sisters, Catherine Reynolds of Blairsville, Pa., Roberta Cornman of Homer City, Pa., Louise Jones of Warren, Ohio; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Richard L. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, Pa., 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Cemetery Association, R.D.#1, Clarksburg, Pa. 15725.

Charles A. Fox
ATHENS, Tenn. - Charles Alexander Fox, 87, formerly of Southport, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at National Health Care Center, Athens, Tenn.

Memorial service was 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at St. Phillips Episcopal Church, Southport, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Asheboro, on the Vestry at his church, a graduate of N.C. State University, a member of Southport Lions Club and a retired forester with the N.C. State Forestry Service.

Surviving are wife, Evelyn Loughlin Fox of Athens, Tenn.; daughter, Mary Lib Bird of Athens, Tenn.; son, Charles A. Fox of Falls Church, Va.; sister, Charlesanna L. Fox of Burlington; brother, James Fox of Burlington; two grandchildren.

Jerry Smith Funeral Home, Athens, Tenn., was in charge of the arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Edith Bulla Cranford, 89, of East Central Avenue, Asheboro, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Paul Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Charles W. Cranford, was retired from Acme-McCrary Corp. and Randolph Hospital, and was a member of Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Leon Furr, 2100 Lamar Drive, Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - Donna Owens Redding, 37, of 2075 Cedar Road, Lot 49, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Russell's Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Tim Fonner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School and was employed with Caraway Furniture.

Surviving are fiancé, Mark Allred of Asheboro; daughter, Misty Fall Owens of Glenola; mother and stepfather, Barbara and Roy Dorsett of Asheboro; father and stepmother, Billy and Reva Owens of Asheboro; sisters, Danielle Cranford, Holly Owens, Tiffany Owens, all of Asheboro, Deanna Brown of Franklinville; stepsister, Ginger Lawson of Asheboro; grandmother, Eloise Massey of Princess Anne, Md.; one granddaughter.

SEAGROVE - Luzena Cagle Cooper, 91, of 2739 U.S. 220 South, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Asbury Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clay Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are son, Gary Thomas Cooper of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Wanda C. Stewart of Robbins; brothers, Floyd Cagle of Denton, Roy Cagle of Belauhville; sisters, Louise Hancock, Lena Singleton, both of Star, Catherine McNeill of Seagrove, Betty Rush of Randleman, Ollie Annette Watts of Archdale, Mary Wisner of Siler City; four grandchildren.

ARCHDALE - Minnie Biby Tuggle, 83, of 4406 Burgemere Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Westwood Health and Rehab Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with the Rev. Rodney Holloman officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Stokes County, a retired employee of Anvil Brand, Inc. and attended Bunker Hill Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are husband, Ausbie Washington Tuggle of the home; sons, Charles A. Tuggle of Asheboro, Donald L. Tuggle of Trinity, Ronnie R. Tuggle of the home; daughter, Betty Gean Cross of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; sisters, Elizabeth Puckett of Ellerbee, Peggy Dodson of Kernersville; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

RAMSEUR - Pauline Buie Dennis, 88, of 152 King Road, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev Danny Penny officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Sapona Mfg. and was a member of Franklinville Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are daughters, Carletta Lindley, Gaile Johnson, both of Asheboro; sister, Louise Albright of Asheboro; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Rodney B. Graham Jr.
MT. GILEAD - Rodney Buford Graham Jr., 84, of 331 E. Allenton St., died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at St. Josephs in the Pines Hospital, Southern Pines.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jim Harris officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery with military honors.

He was a native of Charlotte, a graduate of N.C. State University with a degree in textiles, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who was awarded the Silver Star for valor and was a retired chemist with Wade Manufacturing Corp. of Wadesboro.

Surviving are daughter, Mitzi Johnson of Mt. Gilead; sister, Kathryn Peabody of Gastonia; two granddaughters.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.

PITTSBORO - Lacy Coble, 83, of 1393 Hillsborough St., died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Laurel Hill Nursing Home, Pittsboro.

Funeral service will be Friday at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Bishop J. Harold Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvery Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a former employee of the City of Asheboro.

Surviving are sister, Elnora C. Lloyd of the home; brother, Leo Coble of Bennett.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. Thursday.

Jewell M. Boone
STAR - Jewell Myrick Boone, 58, of 180 May Fair Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Reynolds and the Rev. Bennie Maness officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the owner and proprietor of Jewells Country Collections.

Surviving are husband, Fred J. Boone of Star; son, Phillip Boone of Raleigh; daughters, Cathy B. Wallace of Carthage, Tammy Lynn Boone of Star; sister, Joyce M. Allred of Star; brothers, Bobby H. Myrick of Star, Jack L. Myrick of West End, Charles Myrick of Forest City, Clarence Paul Myrick and Vernon Russell Myrick, both of Carthage; one grandchild.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Howard E. Long Jr.
SOUTHERN PINES - Howard E. Long Jr., 79, of 907 N. Glenwood Trail, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Services will be at a later date.

He was a native of Johnson City, N.Y., a U.S. Army veteran, had worked for Dixco Paper Co. and was retired as national sales director from the Flexible Packaging Sales division of St. Regis Paper Co., Dallas, Texas. He served as Blood Services director for the Moore County Chapter of the American Red Cross for 11 years.

Surviving are wife, Penny Long; sons, Jeffery Long of Alexandria, Va., Kris Long of Scottsdale, Ariz., Robin Long of Ruidoso, N.M.; sister, Claudia Buergler of Cary; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, is in charge of the arrangements.

Rosario Corp
CANDOR - Rosario Del Los Angelos Corp, 46, of 1016 Burkhead St., died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at her home.

Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church, with Father Fidel Melo officiating. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery.

She was a native of El Salvador and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Ernesto J. Garay; sons, Hector O. Alvarado, Raymond C. Corp and Joseph F. Corp; daughters, Evelyn E. Corp and Patricia Del Carmen Corp; brothers, Clemente Pena and Herman Pena; sister, Maura Morales; one grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 2-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Peggy D. Allen
HAMLET - Peggy Jean Dunlap Allen, 52, of 500 Hawthorne St., formerly of Candor, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Community Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Fred Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Allen Family Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Joseph Hulet Allen and was retired from Klaussner Furniture Co. after 25 years.

Surviving are son, Joseph R. Allen of Boomer; daughter, Brenda K. Allen of Asheboro; mother, Iva Garner Dunlap of Robbins; brothers, Russell Dunlap of Seagrove, David Dunlap of Highfalls; sisters, Barbara Maness of Robbins, Cathline Odom of Carolina Beach, Dorothy May of Gastonia, Clara Belle Dunlap of Rockingham; two grandchildren.

The family will be Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Asheboro - Lillian Ingold Hall, 61, of 1325 Mt. View Church Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.

She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

She was a native of Georgetown, S.C., the widow of William Morris, a homemaker and a member of Central Falls Baptist Church.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, at New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. David McCauley officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II veteran, a member of New Salem United Methodist Church and retired from Carter Fabrics in Greensboro.

Surviving are wife, Ella Deane Heath Russell; son, Rick Russell of Randleman; daughter, Pam Russell of Randleman; one grandchild.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

LIBERTY - Myrtle Dare Bristow Brown, 64, of Maricopa, Arizona, formerly of Liberty, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in Arizona.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of Friendly Wesleyan Church and employed at Phil-Knit.

Surviving are husband, Don S. Brown of the home; sister, Faye Cheek of Carlsbad, Calif.; stepdaughters, Sherry White of Bland, Va., Sandra Farmer, Deborah L. Kime, both of Liberty; stepson, Jesse Steven Brown of Staley; nine stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Bethany United Methodist Church fellowship hall following the service.

LIBERTY - Michael Lesley Garrett, 23, of Howell Center in Goldsboro, died Tuesday, Dec. l9, 2000, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Blanche Spencer
SEAGROVE - Mattie Blanche Parks Spencer, 88, of 325 Ridge Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Seagrove United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bobby Marsh, the Rev. Rosser Lee Clapp, and the Rev. Billy Joe Willett officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park

She was a native of Randolph County, a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years, a youth director and was former president of the Women's Fellowship. She was a tax collector for the Town of Seagrove, and a substitute teacher for the Randolph County School system.

Surviving are daughters, Nancy S. Reeder of the home, Alice S. Martin of Seagrove; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Friday.

SILER CITY - Jewel Branson Jones, 81, of 514 East Second St., died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Dennis Boone officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Bear Creek.

She was a native of Randolph County, attended First Wesleyan Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, George W. Jones of Siler City.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
