SUMMERFIELD - Kenneth Causey Brown, 66, of 7007 N.C. 65, Rockingham County, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Bethel Church of the Evangelical Covenant, Summerfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, a retired truck driver with Carolina Pacific in High Point, he attended Mt. Bethel Church of the Evangelical Covenant and was a member of the EZ Street Car Club in Reidsville.
Survivors are wife, Claudette McCollum Brown of the home; daughter, Jennifer B. Beane of Asheboro; stepsons, Donovan Tucker of Adams, Tenn., Joel "Jimmy" Tucker of Madison; six grandchildren.
The family will be at the church immediately following the service and other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Thomas Bealer "Bill" Weeks Jr., 57, of 157 Back Creek Terrace, Asheboro, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro.
He was a native of Greensboro and an insurance agent having worked most recently with Western Southern Life Insurance Co.
Surviving are wife, Joan Weeks of the home; daughter, Katherine "Kristy" Weeks of Asheboro; parents, Bealer and Jewel Weeks of Greensboro; sister, Faye Morris of Liberty.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired supervisor at Renfro Hosiery Co., Star.

SILER CITY - Newby Walter Smith, 77, of 1105 N. Chatham Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Chatham Hospital.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at West End United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Warren Owens officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
He was a native of Chatham County, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and retired as a barber and machinist with Industrial Metal Flame Sprayers in Durham.
Surviving are wife, Irene Allen Smith of Siler City; daughter, Doris S. He was a native of Chatham County and a self-employed truck driver.
Surviving are son, Eugene B. Marley Jr. of Edwardsburg, Mich.; two grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren.

BISCOE - James Earl "J.E." Baldwin Jr., 73, of 308 E. Main St., died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, with Dr. W.E. McPeters officiating. Burial will be in Dover Baptist Church Cemetery, Seagrove, with military graveside rites.
He was a native of Montgomery County and a graduate of Oak Ridge Military Academy, Mars Hill College and N.C. State University. He was an engineer, a farmer and a U.S. Navy veteran and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are wife, Frances Ratliff Baldwin of the home; sons, Jimmy Baldwin and Johnny Baldwin, both of Biscoe; two grandchildren.

SILER CITY - Walter D. Foxx, 71, of 910 E. 11th St., died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Chatham Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Chatham County, retired from Hadley Peoples Mfg. Co. and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He served as vice chairman of the Deacon Board, was Sunday School superintendent and a member of the Finance Committee and Kitchen Committee. He was a member of the Male Chorus and Senior Choir and was employed by the Council of Aging at J.O.C.C.A., Siler City. He was a member of American Legion Post 277 and was superintendent of the Sunday School Department of the Congress of Christian Education in the Deep River Baptist Association.
Surviving are daughter, Miranda Nichols of Philadelphia, Pa.; mother, Annie L. Foxx of Siler City; brothers, Clyde T. Foxx, Charlie A. Foxx, both of Siler City; sisters, Anner K. Siler, Madeline Moffitt, both of Siler City; three grandchildren.
The family will be at the church 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He was a native of Orange County, the widower of Frances W. Sykes and was retired from Thurston Motor Lines. He was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, an usher and on the cemetery committee at his church. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and an honorary member of Silk Hope Ruritan Club.
Surviving are wife, Colleen Buckner Sykes of Siler City; daughters, Jonnie S. Ellington of Graham, Lynn S. Abee of Mocksville; brother, Lester Sykes of Badin Lake; stepson, Jeffrey S. Frank of Raleigh; one grandson; three stepgrandchildren: six stepgreat-grandchildren.
