RAMSEUR - William Burch McKinnon, 71, of 5651 Old Siler City Road, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at the V.A. Hospital, Salisbury.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Knoll Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Wright officiating.

He was a native of Duplin County and a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Fla. He was a member of Hanks Lodge #128 AF & AM in Franklinville, a member of the Grand Encampment of the Knights Templar, a member of the D.A.V. in Ramseur and the American Legion in Liberty, and was retired from Allen Wood Steel.

Surviving are wife, Ruth B. McKinnon of the home; stepson, Randy Burgess of Ramseur; daughter, Sharon Rae of Greensboro; sister, Nancy New of Asheboro; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

SILER CITY - Brownie Harris, 79, of 2624 Hampstone Road, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at his home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Chatham Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dennis Boone officiating.

He was a native of Rockingham County, had retired from Hadley Peoples Mfg. Company, and was of the Wesleyan faith.

Surviving are stepdaughter, Frances Bowers of High Point; sisters, Vivian Goins of High Point, Lauvena Bray of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brothers, Charles Harris of Madison, Homer Harris of Eden; one grandson; one great-grandson.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Mary C. Waisner
SEAGROVE - Mary Elizabeth Cagle Waisner, 79, of Seagrove, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Richland Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of John Harlton Waisner and she was retired from Stedman Corp.

Surviving are sons, James Harold Waisner of Ramseur, Jerry Wayne Waisner of Asheboro; sisters, Louise Hancock, Lena Singleton, both of Star, Ollie Watts of Archdale, Betty Lee Routh of Randleman, Catherine McNeill of Seagrove; brothers, Roy Cagle, of Beulaville, Floyd Cagle of Denton; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Rev. Gaither B. Reich
ROBBINS - Rev. Gaither Britton Reich, 81, of 220 Fousher St., died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pine Mountain Evangelical Friends Church, where he was a member, with Dr. John Williams Jr., the Rev. Lynn Shreve and the Rev. Lin Hairfield officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Greensboro, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, the pastor of Pine Mountain Evangelical Friends Church, and a Sunday School teacher in the Moravian Church in Greensboro. He was a pastor for 56 years in different Friends churches in Colorado, Iowa, Ohio and North Carolina, also served as Secretary/ Treasurer of Camp Hawthornburg Ministries in Bennett and he was a house painter.

Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Burger Reich of the home; sons, Mark Reich of Beloit, Ohio, John Reich of Mebane, James Reich of Lexington, Joseph Reich of Eagle Springs; daughters, Betty R. Hendricks of Eden, Esther R. Carrillo of Charlotte; brothers, Russell S. Reich Jr. of Buffalo, N.Y., Benjamin Reich of Charleston, S.C.; sister, Lois Bass of Mebane; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

CARTHAGE - Flonnie Penniger Dance, 89, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Pinelake Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Tom Herndon officiating. Burial will be in Cross Hill Cemetery.

She was a retired telephone operator at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Surviving are daughter, Glenda Layton of Carthage; sisters, Ruby Williams and Pearl Holt, both of Lexington, Charline Johnson of Long Beach; brothers, Tommy Williams of Lexington, Gilmer Williams of Kannapolis; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of the daughter, 102 Brooklyn St. Carthage.

TROY - Maude G. Boney, 86, of Troy, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Southside Cemetery, with the Rev. David Kime officiating.

She was a native of Texarkana, Texas, and a homemaker.

Julius S. Hicks
BANNER ELK - Julius Samuel Hicks, 55, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Wilson Medical Center, Wilson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was a native of Gardenia, Calif.

Surviving are sister, Pearl Hicks of Banner Elk; brother, John Hicks of Randleman.

Dr. Charles F. Owen
ASHEBORO - Dr. Charles Fletcher Owen, M.D., 88, of Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was a native of Louisville, Ky., the widower of Eloise Harnden Owen and was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton. He was a graduate of Wake Forest University where he played football and was the captain of the 1933 basketball team, and was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He practiced General Medicine in Canton, was the first Radiologist in the Piedmont and practiced radiology in Asheboro and also in Siler City, Thomasville, Lexington, Troy, and Southern Pines. He was a member of the Randolph Rotary Club.

Surviving are daughters, Jayne Parker, Nancy S. Owen, both of Asheboro; son, Charles F. "Chip" Owen III of Asheboro; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at the home 2-8 p.m. Monday and 2-8 p.m. Tuesday.

David L. Frye
HIGH POINT - David Lee Frye, 68, of 707 N. Elm St., died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Pastor Mark Kent officiating. Burial will be in Flag Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and attended Asheboro Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Surviving are sisters, Frances Seabolt, Virginia Bumgarner, both of Asheboro; brothers, C.A. Frye of Statesville, Charles Frye, Jesse Frye, both of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Frances Seabolt, 419 E. Dorsett St., Asheboro.

Opal M. Harrington
CARTHAGE - Opal Martin Harrington, 80, of Torchwood Road, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Red Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. D. C. Sullivan, the Rev. Bobby Marsh and the Rev. James Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Surry County, the widow of C. B. Harrington, and a retired foreman from Stanley Furniture Company in West End.

Surviving are daughter, Wanetta "Pug" Harrington of Jackson Springs; sons, Ronnie Harrington of Carthage, Donnie Harrington of Phoenix City, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.

Agnes L. Jones
ASHEBORO - Agnes Lela Lisk Jones, 94, of 400 Vision Drive, Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation in Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Dewey V. Jones, a member of Balfour Baptist Church and was retired from Martha Mills.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda J. Adkins of Asheboro, Ann J. Davis of Seagrove; sister, Ruth Greene of Troy; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adkins, 794 Skycrest Country Road, Asheboro.

J. Stephen Baxter
RANDLEMAN - Joel Stephen Baxter, 47, of 626 Stout St., died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.

He was a native of Atlanta, Ga., and a former employee of Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

Surviving are brother, Cooper Baxter of Hiawassee, Ga.; sister, Patricia Waters of Douglasville, Ga.

The family will be at the funeral home immediately after the service.

Grady W. Culler
SEAGROVE - Grady Wesley Culler, 84, of 8942 Riverside Road, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Needham's Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. James E. Cockram officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.

He was a native of Stokes County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9245, a former deacon at his church and a retired farmer.

Surviving are wife, Frances Dunn Culler; sons, Harold Culler, Wesley Culler and Larry Culler, all of Seagrove; daughters, Janice Covington and Jane Poe, both of Seagrove; sisters, Beulah Hussey of Southern Pines, Mabel Davis of Star, Esther Welch of Robbins; two granddaughters; one stepgrandson.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

TRINITY - Margie Lucille Watson Foster, 71, of 4996 Darr Road, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Leo Bynum officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.

She was a native of Siler City, former president of the United Methodist Women, current vice president of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Chancel Choir, Prayer Band, the H.M. Penry Adult Sunday School class and past secretary of the Administrative Board. She retired from Miller Desk Co. and was self-employed as a beautician.

Surviving are husband, Raymond Foster of the home; son, Lee Andre Foster of the home; daughter, Margie Jeanette Stringfellow of Trinity; foster daughter, Ethel Dupree of Trinity; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Stella Mae Siler of Siler City, Christine Warren of High Point.

The family will be at at the home.

COLERIDGE - Charlie Herbert Baxter Jr., 73, of N.C. 22 South, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Kenneth Huggins and the Rev. Tom Hill officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, a truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Viola C. Baxter; stepsons, William Diffie Caviness of Ramseur, Colon Wayne Caviness of Franklinville, James Buddy Caviness of Asheboro; stepdaughter, Ollie Marie Brady of Ramseur; sisters, Juanita B. Cox of Bennett, Myrldeen B. Wright and Eva Joyce B. Brown, both of Ramseur, Dorothy Jane B. Brown of Robbins, Jearldeen B. Kivett of Staley, Rosina B. Routh and Jeannette B. Williamson, both of Asheboro; brothers, James Arthur Baxter of Robbins, Robert Harold Baxter of Asheboro; 10 stepgrandchildren.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Brush Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dwight Jenkins and the Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, the widower of Ruby Brewer Brown and a farmer.

Surviving are son, Bobby Gene Brown of Bear Creek; daughter, Sue B. Perry of Bear Creek; sisters, Myrtle Teague, Hilda Brewer, both of Bennett; brothers, Colon Brown of Bear Creek, Coy Brown of Siler City, Norman Brown of Bennett, Buster Brown of Seagrove; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of the daughter, 6165 Bonlee-Bennett Road, Bear Creek.

FAIRVIEW - Mary Elizabeth Smith, 39, of 24 Sayles Town Road, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Memorial Mission Hospital.

Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, Asheville, with the Rev. Howard Shockley officiating. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Bear Creek.

She was a native of Chatham County, a quality control supervisor with Collins & Aikman, a graduate of N.C. State University and showed horses.

Surviving are husband, Mike Smith of the home; parents, Wayne and Emily Billings Smith of Mt. Gilead; sister, Margaret Peacock of Locust.

The family will be at the funeral home in Asheville following the service on Tuesday and at Bear Creek Baptist Church, Bear Creek, at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with Ben Harold and Mike Moody officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Nash County and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Judge Calvin Dezern of the home; son, Steve Dezern of Asheboro; daughters, Faye Elliott of Morehead City, Rebecca Molinary of Chapel Hill, Nancy Dufour, Myra Hammond, both of Newport, Carolyn Moody of Puerto Rico; sister, Irene Dezern of Hampton, Va.; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Albert J. Ingram Jr.
DENTON - Albert J. "Pete" Ingram Jr., 44, of Cap Ingram Road, Lexington, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Floyd Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Fred Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Davidson County and worked with the Davidson County Sheltered Workshop.

Surviving are parents, Albert Jonah and Nannie Ingram of Lexington; brother, Scotty Ingram of Lexington.

The family will be at the home of the brother, 805 Cap Ingram Road, Lexington, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
