He was a native of Surry County and was employed with Ramseur Interlock.

RANDLEMAN - Callie Mae Carpenter Freeman, 91, of 242 Worthville Road, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Kenneth Reaves and the Rev. Bob Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Harry D. Freeman, a homemaker, a Sunday School teacher and on the Hostess Committee at her church.
Surviving are daughters, Joyce F. Hargett of Norfolk, Va., Ann F. Yates of Randleman; sons, William H. Freeman of the home, Ronald Bruce Freeman of Clyde; brother, Robert Carpenter of Hamlet; sister, Mary Helen Carpenter of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

MONROE - Mary Ingram Allen, 90, of 722 Summit, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Autumn Care in Marshville.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Savannah A.M.E. Zion Church in Lilesville, with the Rev. David Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Anson County.
Surviving are daughter, Johnsie Huntley of Monroe; son, Jesse Gene Allen of Monroe; sister, Nora Jones of Charlotte; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - George David "Buck" Ridge, 73, of 353 Auman Ave., Asheboro, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakhurst Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Richard Crider and Dr. Lynard Hunter officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Black & Decker, was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and was a bluegrass musician and gun trader.
Surviving are wife, Dorothy Winslow Ridge of the home; daughters, Debra R. Nardali and Jan R. Bullins, both of Asheboro; sisters, Reba Owens, Helen Garner, Peggy Rush and Judy Cranford, all of Asheboro, Linda Bayse of Hendersonville; brother, William E. "Bill" Ridge of Asheboro; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Marlboro County, S.C., a 1968 graduate of Sumner High School, Greensboro, and was presently employed as a telecommunicator in the Communication Department of the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority. She had been a professional hairdresser with Kat's Hair Salon in Sophia and the Hair Saloon of Archdale, had previously worked at Rice Hosiery and was a volunteer EMT with High Point Rescue.
Surviving are husband, Robert Barnes of the home; daughter, Kellie Y. Barnes of Greensboro; son, Mark L. Barnes of Thomasville; mother, Stella Clay of the home; sister, Janice "Jan" Hilton of Randleman; four grandchildren.

KINGSTON, N.Y. - Arthur E. Barnes, 78, of West Chester Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Kingston Hospital.
A Mass of the Resurrection was Saturday at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Kingston, N.Y., where he was a member, with the Rev. Frank Wallner officiating. Temporary entombment was in Wiltwyck Cemetery. Burial will be in Hurley Cemetery in the spring.
He was a native of Kingston, N.Y., a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Joyce-Schirick Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1386, Kingston, N.Y. He played for the city of Kingston Baseball League, was inducted into the Kingston Baseball Hall of Fame and he also managed the Kingston American Little League. He was a member of the Kingston Republican Club and was retired after 31 years from the former Hercules Powder Company.
Surviving are wife, Bernice Nadel Barnes; sons, George A. Barnes and John T. Barnes, both of Kingston, N.Y., William H. Barnes of Gibraltar, Mich., Roy J. Barnes of Asheboro, James S.
