Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Canaan United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Anne Musselman and the Rev. Jack Stratas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Davidson County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and had worked for Thomasville Furniture Industries.
Surviving are wife, Coine Ward Nance of the home; son, Jeff Nance of Denton; daughter, Suzanne Gallimore of Denton; sisters, Vergie Cobb of New London, Faye Everhart of Thomasville; four grandchildren.

SOUTHERN PINES - James Carlton Garner, 75, of 1420 Central Drive, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, with Dr. William Rolland officiating. Burial will be in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County and was a self employed carpenter.
Surviving are daughters, Patricia A. Sanders, Elizabeth C. Mantle, both of Southern Pines; brother, Herbert Garner of Robbins; sisters, Hilda G. Davis of Robbins, Lucille G. Davis of Asheboro; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Rev. B.W. Jackson
Rev. Burnice William "Bill" Jackson, 77, of 910 Oakmont Drive, Asheboro, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Asheboro, where he was a member.
He was a native of Oxford, graduated in 1939 from Stem High School, 1943 from Wake Forest University and 1946 from Southern Seminary. He retired from North Carolina Baptist State Convention in 1989 after 43 years of service, served as State Royal Ambassador Secretary, Director of Camp Caraway for the North Carolina Brotherhood, and was Caraway Camp and Conference Center Manager. He supervised the construction of Camp Caraway, Camp Mundo Vista, and the Caraway Conference Center and assisted with camp and conference center planning in several other states, with several associational camps in North Carolina, for the Baptist Mission Board in Brazil and Honduras and the J.J. Johnson Assembly for the N.C. General Baptist Convention. He served as the vice president and president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Camp Manager's Association. He was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and active committee person at his church and he taught a Sunday school class at the Asheboro Fire Department.
Surviving are wife, Ruth Eller Jackson of Asheboro; son, W. Craig Jackson of Advance; daughter, Sybil Jackson Samaha of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Ruby Jackson Brewer of Providence; brothers, L.J. Jackson of Providence, Hubert Jackson of Oxford; six grandchildren.
The family will be at the church immediately following the service.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired sawmill operator.

She was a native of Davidson County, a teacher for her church's Clubhouse Ministries and the Children's Church and was employed as a teacher's assistant at Farmer Elementary School.

She was a native of Moore County and a retired employee of the Moore County Sheriff's Department.

He was a native of Laurinburg, retired after 30 years with Collins and Aikman Corp., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW and of the Baptist faith.
