Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronald Schoen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Surry County, was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Collins-Aikman Co. in Siler City.

Surviving are daughters, Rebecca Haywood of Easley, S.C., Amanda Sheffield of Carthage, Venus Ann Ward of Mebane; sons, Gary Sheffield of Sanford, Lacy Sheffield of Siler City, Ernest Melton of Robbins; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Lois S. Ledwell
ASHEBORO - Lois Shaw Ledwell, 84, of 5833 Lassiter Mill Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. D.C. Sullivan, the Rev. Ernest Mangum and the Rev. Joseph Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and was retired from Bost Neckwear after 20 years.

Surviving are daughter, Emily Brown of Asheboro; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

RAMSEUR - Shirley Williams Jessup, 68, of 6433 Lanes Mill Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Gerald Ward officiating, Burial will be in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery in Coleridge.

She was a native of Chatham County and had formerly worked for Pinehurst Textiles.

Surviving are husband, Jean R. Jessup of the home; daughter, Martha E. Jessup of Asheboro; brother, Clyde Williams of Siler City; sister, Sue Powell of Eastern; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Lydia R. Lutterloh
SILER CITY - Lydia R. Lutterloh, 81, of 1307 N. Hodge St., died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be noon Saturday at Corinth A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and a retired nursing assistant.

Surviving are daughters, Sylvia Lutterloh of Brooklyn, N.Y., Marsha Gibson of Salisbury, Deadra Lutterloh of Durham, Lynette Foxx of the home; son, George Lutterloh of Siler City; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 7-8 p.m. Friday.

Mollie G. Elkins
GOLDSTON - Mollie Gaines Elkins, 93, of 210 Mary Eliza Lane, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Central Florida Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial will be in Gaines Grove Cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Roy B. Elkins, she attended Gaines Grove Primitive Baptist Church, and was a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Dixie E. Rose of Sanford, Fla.; sons, Oren Elkins, Raeford Elkins, both of Goldston; brother, Tom Gaines of Jamesville; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.

CARTHAGE - Charles L. English, 72, of McNell Street, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Robbins, with the Rev. Ernest Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

He was a native of Clarksburg, W.Va., a U.S. Army veteran, a manufactured home repairman and a Baptist church missionary.

Surviving are wife, Nola Hissam English; daughters, Julia Herring of Morganton, Ga., Jane English and Jennifer Germain, both of Carthage; sons, David Green of Pitt, Va., Delmer Green of Elijay, Ga.; sister, Geraldine McGreevy of Eufaula, Okla.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

CARTHAGE - Annie Ruth Bruce Garner, 66, of Plank Road, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Alvis O. George Jr.
ASHEBORO - Alvis Owen George Jr., died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at his home.

Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Asheboro, where he was a member.

He was a native of Roanoke Rapids, was a graduate of the School of Design at North Carolina State University and served in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves. He was employed as Director of Design with J. Hyatt Hammond Associates, and was a key designer of the Master Plan for the North Carolina Zoological Park. He was Director of Architecture for Black and Veatch, was a member of the American Institute of Architects for nearly 50 years, and served as a member of the vestry and the choir at his church.

Surviving are wife, Martha Holland George of the home; daughter, Holly George-Warren of New York City, N.Y.; son, Alvis Owen George III of San Francisco, Calif., Robert Jackson Futrelle George of New York City, N.Y.; mother, Brownie F. George of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Margaret Lou Wolfe of Heathsville, Va.; one grandson.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

RANDLEMAN - Carolyn Routh Radcliff, 65, of 529 Worthville St. Apt. 8, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Vencor Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman. Burial will be in Country Holiness Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a member of First Baptist Church, Randleman.

Surviving are sons, Larry Routh of Randleman, Garry Routh of Liberty; sister, Margaret McCann of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

James Parrish
DENTON - James Avery "Jim" Parrish, 71, of Anderson St., died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Denton Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Charles Moses and the Rev. Bud McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens with military rites.

He was a native of Surry County, a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired truck driver.

Surviving are wife, Carol P. Parrish of the home; sons, Stanly Parrish, Stewart Parrish, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; stepson, Nathan Kindley of Asheboro; stepsisters, Marie McDowell of Trinity, Ruth Mills of High Point; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

CANDOR - Maggie Smith Lemonds, 82, of 2262 Candor Troy Road, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. June Johnson Manning, the Rev. Michael E. Holyfield and Rev. Wilson Harris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Willie Eldon Lemonds, and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Carleen Bodsford, Ann Scott, both of Star, Kaye Kennedy, Mary Bodsford, both of Biscoe; sons, David Lemonds of Candor, E.L. Lemonds of Seagrove; sisters, Catherine Smith of Biscoe, Lena Vredenburg, Annie Freeman, both of Candor; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

LEXINGTON - Gloria June Davis Frazier, 49, of Mayfair Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Billy F. Sosebee officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

She was a native of Davidson County and had worked with Ruby's Bridal Shop and Zimmerman's in Salisbury.

Surviving are daughter, Carmen F. Pippin of Staley; son, SSgt. Kevin Frazier of Japan; mother, Hazeline H. Davis of the home; sisters, Cindy D. Reynolds of Wake Forest, Debby Davis of the home, Betty D. McCrary of Lexington; brother, Samuel C. Davis Jr. of Albemarle; grandmother, Effie Harvey; four grandchildren.

She was a native of Moore County, a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Sapona Manufacturing after 45 years and was a Sunday School at her church.

Surviving are son, Robert L. Cook of Franklinville; daughter, Frances Walker of Franklinville; sisters, Mary W. Cook of Asheboro, Jessie Thorpe of Cedar Falls.

He was a native of Randolph County, attended Trinity Holiness Church of Sophia, was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Hatteras Yacht after 27 years.

Surviving are wife, Annie Marie Rich Craven of the home; daughter, Dianne C. Rush of Sophia; son, Jackie L. Craven of the home; mother, Vergie Underwood Craven of Climax; one grandchild.

Norma K. Moffitt
GREENSBORO - Norma Kerley Moffitt, 69, of 2516 Emerald Drive, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro.

She was a native of Guilford County and a member and secretary of West Market Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving are husband, Charlie Moffitt of Greensboro; sons, Robert Moffitt of Stafford, Va., Richard Moffitt of Greensboro; daughters, Yvonne Ore of Mebane, Jennifer Moffitt of Pleasant Garden, Sylvia Moffitt of Greensboro; brother, Joseph Kerley of Hickory; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Anson County.

Prevatt and George R. Prevatt, both of Greensboro, Ross D. Prevatt of Concord; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Chatham County.

Surviving are sons, Joe McMasters, Michael McMasters, both of Staley, Nathan McMasters of Liberty; daughters, Jessie McMasters, Betty Peoples, Ruth McMasters, all of Staley, Wanda Andrews of Ramseur; sisters, Frances Bowden, Roberta Nettles, Gracie Mae Garner, Rosa Jane Harris and Delcina Siler, all of Staley; brother, Bobby Brooks of Ramseur; 18 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
