Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Siler City Chapel, where he was a member, with the Rev. Tommy Steele officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.
He was a native of Chatham County, retired from Founders Furniture, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a life-time member of American Legion Post #81, Liberty and was a life-time member of the DAV in Asheboro.
Surviving are wife, Ruth Lassiter Fields; daughter, Darlene F. Green of Greensboro; brother, Lewis Fields of Goldston; sisters, Ollie F. Riddle, Josie F. Oldham, Lucy F. Wall, all of Goldston, Mary F. Graves of Siler City; one granddaughter.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Earl Dulaney and the Rev. Robert Bundy officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.
She was a native of Richmond County, the retired owner and operator of McNeill's Store, a member of the United Methodist Women, a former Sunday School teacher and a former member of the church choir and the administrative board.
Surviving are son, Jerry Howard McNeill of Robbins; brothers, Richard A. Wentz of Bishopville, S.C., Carl Clifford Wentz of Levittown, Long Island, N.Y.; two grandchildren.
