ASHEBORO - Ellis Anne Harris, 56, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakland Baptist Church, Ramseur, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She attended Ramseur Elementary School and Randolph High School in Liberty, and was a graduate of Asheboro Commercial College. She was employed by Eveready Battery Co. Inc. for 22 years and Southeastern Randolph Middle School. She was a member of the Gospel Choir, Usher Board and a past secretary of the Sunday School at her church. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Rising Star Chapter 10, Order of Eastern Star and currently a member of Jasmine Chapter 7 of Greensboro.

Surviving are husband, Eugene Harris Sr.; mother, Etta Crump; son, Eugene Harris Jr; daughter, Connie Love; sisters, Elzie Cheek, Jennifer Graves, Margie Crump, Elizabeth Brooks; brothers, Ronald Crump, Donald Crump; four grandchildren.

Hoover's Funeral Home, High Point, is in charge of the arrangements.

LIBERTY - George Lukens, 95, formerly of 243 Pickett Circle, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Sam Shores officiating. The committal service will be at 1 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.

He was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and was a 32nd Degree Mason, Roxborough Lodge in Philadelphia, Pa.

Surviving is wife, Mildred Lippard Lukens of Greensboro.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Hazel Marley
LIBERTY - Hazel Marley of 34 W. Brower Ave. died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at St. Stephen A.M.E. Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen Memorial Garden.

Surviving are daughter, Elsie M. Headen of Liberty; sister, Minnie Lloyd of Liberty; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 2-3 p.m. Friday.

James P. Kissell
BISCOE - James Phillips Kissell, 82, of 2397 N.C. 24-27, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Biscoe, with the Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are daughter, Jane K. Haywood of Biscoe; son, Phil Kissell of Biscoe; brother, Ray Kissell of Raleigh; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church in Laurel Hill, with the Rev. Randall Snead and the Rev. Herman Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Laurinburg.

She was a native of Scotland County, the widow of David E. Gilmore Sr., a former employee of Ithaca Industries and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Carthage.

Surviving are husband, Cleanburn Hayes Jr. of the home; son, David Earl Gilmore Jr. of Ventura Hills, Calif.; daughters, Bobbie G. McBryde of Springdale, Ark., Debbie G. Williams of Cordova, Elaine G. Brady, Cindy Gilmore, both of Robbins; stepdaughters, Lynn Gilmore, Teresa Gilmore both of Columbia, S.C., Susan Smith of Aberdeen, Carlotta Scott of Bear Creek, Renee Maness, Robin Heopler, Judith Hayes, all of Robbins; brother, Alfred Snead of Laurinburg; sisters, Katie Deese of Laurel Hill, Ruby Pate of Hamlet, Grace Riggan of Rockingham; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - E. Julius Williams, 79, of 840 Lee St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. W. Russell Ward Jr. and Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, retired from First National Bank after 50 years and was a member of Asheboro Lions Club and a charter member of Asheboro Jaycees.

Surviving are wife, Reba Feemster Williams of Asheboro; daughter, Mary Susan W. Rivers of Huntersville; son, Jay Williams of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Carl Garner officiating. Burial will be in Melanchthon Lutheran Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of Howard Thomas, Worth Kirkman, and Burley Langley and was retired from Mr. Jeans Co. in Randleman.

Surviving are daughters, Louise T. Routh, Gaynell K. Yow, both of Liberty; sons, Ronnie W. Kirkman of Liberty, Howard M. Thomas, Charles R. "Bud" Thomas, Homer F. Thomas, all of Asheboro, James R. Millikan, Dean Millikan, both of Asheboro, Richard Kirkman of Julian; six stepchildren; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren.

She was a native of Guilford County and was employed with Four Star Hosiery Mill of High Point.

Surviving are husband, Joseph Robert Hendley of Trinity; daughters, Melissa Newton of Columbia, S.C., Katie Smith of the home; father, Jimmie Davis of Sophia; brothers, Roger Davis of Sophia, Darrell Davis of Randleman; sisters, Ruth Stewart of Rock Hill, S.C., Nellie Burleson of Sophia, Irene Davis of Randleman; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday.

ROBBINS - Ernest Lee Bell, 84, of 276 E. Elm St., died Thursday, March 8, 2001, in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Larry Higgins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Highlands, a member of the administrative board at his church, a member of Elise Lodge 555 AF & AM, a former Boy Scout leader, and a member of the Lions Club. He was a member of the Robbins Area Library Committee and a retired supervisor at Milliken Co.

Surviving are wife, Barbara Jackson Bell; son, Dr. William Lee Bell of Robbins; brother, Howard R. Bell of Robbins; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, others time at the home.

ROBBINS - Lillian Alice Ritter Bullins, 74, of 167 Friendly Lane, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Vencor Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Huldah Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Judson Rotan officiating.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Roy Edward Bullins, and a homemaker.

He was a native of Stokes County, the widower of Ruby Arrington Lankford, a member of Pleasant Union Weslyan Church and was retired from Gregson Manufacturing.

She was a native of Richmond County and the widow of Jonah McRae.

Surviving are daughter, Willie Mae Tyson of Mt. Gilead, great-nephews, William Tyson of Mt. Gilead, Darrin Lindsey of Fayetteville, Kevin Little, Eric Little, both of Killeen, Texas.
