ASHEBORO - Dameon Lamor Walden Jr., infant son of Dameon and Tonika Walden, of 516 A Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Joseph Bell officiating.

Surviving in addition to the parents are sister, LaShaunda Walden of Asheboro; grandparents, Barbara Newby of Asheboro, George and Paulette Walden of Ramseur; great-grandmother, Margie Spinks of Asheboro.

Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

Walter L. Wolfe
RAMSEUR - Walter Lee Wolfe, 95, of 1228 Stout Acres Road, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Dean Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Calvary United Church of Christ Cemetery in Thomasville.

He was a native of Lincoln, Neb., and a farmer.

Surviving are sons, Dallas Wolfe and Colon Wolfe, both of Ramseur, Hubert Wolfe of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Lois Gilliam Jessup, 87, of 330 W. Presnell St. #45, Asheboro, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at her daughter's home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. William Leist officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Bladen County, a graduate of Peace College and the widow of Arnold Jessup.

Surviving are daughters, Caroline Kemp, Scarlet Misenheimer, both of Asheboro; son, Sherwood Jessup of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, James Daniel Gilliam of Lake Waccamaw; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Caroline Kemp, 319 Bossong Drive, Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - Talmage W. Redding, 85, of 189 Cresent Drive, Asheboro, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of First United Methodist Church, was retired from Union Carbide, was formerly employed with Acme-McCrary Corp. and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are daughters, Shelia Diane Williams of Ridgeville, S.C., Eleanor Maie Redding of Greensboro; sons, Talmage W. Redding Jr. of Charleston, S.C., Howard P. Redding of Burleson, Texas, Michael J. Redding of Troy; sisters, Sara Brower of Asheboro, Nancy Lehners of St. Petersburg, Fla.; brother, Odell Redding of Columbia, Md.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of Giles Chapel United Methodist Church and was retired from Burlington Industries.

Surviving are daughters, Sylvia McCollum of Nashville, Shirley Ludemann of Greensboro; sons, Jerry Rollins, Joey Rollins, both of Randleman; brother, Jack Rollins of Asheboro; eight grandchildren.

He was a native of Randolph County, former owner of City Auto Auction in High Point, a cattle farm owner and he attended Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Leona Rush Wood of the home; daughters, Brenda McLeod, Janice Kite, both of Asheboro, Barbara Buchanan of Greensboro, Eddie Ruth Stone of Charlotte; sisters, Bernice Davis, Vonzelle Sharpe, both of Asheboro; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Brown's Chapel Christian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Dan R. Harmon of the home; son, Dale Yow of Bennett; six grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of the son, 7797 Howard's Mill Road, Bennett.

Jon S. Mick
MT. GILEAD - Jon Shane Mick, 54, of 432 Ingold Road, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at his home.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and a retired radio disc jockey.

Surviving are sons, Tim Mick of Mt. Gilead, Jeremy Mick of Rockingham; daughters, Sarah Contreras of Freemont, Ohio, Brie Mick of Greensboro; brothers, Dr. Brooks Mick of Cleveland, Ohio, Fred Mick of High Point; three grandchildren.

TROY - Dewey Odell Davis, 82, of 520 Allen St., died Friday, March 16, 2001, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, with the Rev. Junior Davis officiating. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

W. Harold Hilliard
BEAR CREEK - W. Harold Hilliard, 73, of 16407 N.C. 902, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, retired from Hadley-Peoples Manufacturing and was a retired farmer.

Surviving are wife, Doris Jones Hilliard of Bear Creek; son, William H. Hilliard of Bear Creek; daughters, Pat H. Gaines of Bear Creek, Carolyn H. Putnam of Waterloo, S.C.; brothers, Archie Hilliard of Bear Creek, Robert Hilliard, Roy Hilliard, both of Siler City; sisters, Juanita Lucas, Lenora Lucas, both of Siler City, Geneva Beck, Essie Lee Smith, both of Bear Creek; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE - Donnie Louis Fonville, 46, of 2017 Longleaf Drive, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Little Rock A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. James R. Samuel officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Charlotte.

He was a native of Asheboro, a graduate of Asheboro High School, a member of the Little Rock A.M.E. Zion choir and was a shipping clerk with ACO Polymer of Monroe.

Surviving are wife, Michele Fonville of Charlotte; sons, David M. Fonville, Damion C. Fonville, Derrick A. Fonville, all of Charlotte; father, William Fonville of Chapel Hill; mother, Lennie Fonville of Asheboro; sisters, Lendia Fonville of Charlotte, Angela F. Marley of Asheboro, Annette F. Matthews of Ramseur; brothers, Ritchie Fonville, Jamie Fonville, Scottie Fonville, all of Asheboro; grandmother, Lena Martin of Snow Camp.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Asheboro Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Peter Morris and the Rev. Robert Kidd officiating. Burial will be in Holly Springs Friends Meeting Cemetery.

He was a native of Detroit, Mich., was retired from Wyatt Co. in Detroit and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are daughters, Sheryl Morris of Linden, Marcia Slater of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Renee Lestienne of Elizabethtown, Ky., Dorothy Mae Vernier of Emmitt, Mich., Maureen Helgerson of Sadieville, Ky.; sons, Richard Lestienne of St. Clair Shores, Mich., James Lestienne of Chapel Hill; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 1:45-2:45 p.m. Sunday.

She was a native of Randolph County and was retired from Liberty Furniture.

Surviving are daughters, Betty Jo J. Chandler of Pleasant Garden, Mary Louise J. Stancil of Mebane; son, Woodrow Wilson Julian Jr. of Franklinville; sister, Sally York of Ramseur; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Branson W. Loflin
TRINITY - Branson Worth Loflin, 86, of 7430 N.C. 62, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Evans, the Rev. J.C. Alley and Dr. Elliot B. Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.

He was a native of Davidson County, a graduate of Trinity High School and he attended N.C. State University. He was a former land developer, retired owner and operator of Loflin Lumber Co. and was a member of Brotherhood Sunday School Class, a former trustee and deacon, and served on various committees at his church. He was a member of the Archdale-Trinity Lions Club, where he received Lion of the Year in 1983 and 1986. He was a charter member of the Trinity Ruritan Club, past president of the Guil-Rand Fire Department, a former Randolph County commissioner and former director of Centura Bank.

Surviving are wife, Juanita Steed Loflin of the home; daughters, Janice Smith of Trinity, Phyllis Brenman of New York, Sylvia Baird of Emerald Isle; sister, Mabel Myers of Thomasville; brother, Dolan Loflin of Thomasville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Rosa S. Kennedy
HIGH POINT - Rosa Skeen Kennedy, 98, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Britthaven of Davidson.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Billy H. Ring and the Rev. Dolan Skeen officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Jesse L. Kennedy, a homemaker and a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are daughters, Helen Freeman of Chatham, Va., Ida Mae Hill of Asheboro; sons, Charles Kennedy of Miramar, Fla., B.L. Kennedy of Trinity; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.

Dawson A. Snider
DENTON - Dawson Alexander Snider, 89, of Mountain Vista Health Park, formerly of N.C. 47, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Community General Hospital, Thomasville.

Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. Sandy Young officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

He was a native of Davidson County, the widower of Mattie Lee Loflin Snider, was retired from Lexington Furniture Co. and he attended Siloam United Methodist Church. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and he received the European Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.

Surviving are brothers, T.V. Snider of Denton, Harold Snider of Liberty; sisters, Sally Sexton and Lois Floyd, both of Denton, Ella Mae Beck and Hilda Younts, both of Lexington, Polly Henson of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. William Christopher Thore and the Rev. William H. Pheagin officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Mebane, a graduate of Greensboro College and an elementary school teacher in Mebane, Troy, and Asheboro. She was a member of Circle Number 1 and had served on the administrative board at her church and was employed with Pugh Funeral Homes.

Surviving are daughter, Elizabeth P. Jones of High Point; sons, Tom Pugh of Ruffin, Mac Pugh and Ed Pugh, both of Asheboro; four grandchildren; former husband, Jack Pugh of Asheboro.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Monday.
