Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Friends Meeting, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bob Medford officiating. Burial will be in Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian.
She was a native of Rockingham County and the widow of George Robert Shelton.
Surviving are sons, Wade Shelton, George Shelton and Jimmy Shelton, all of Liberty, Paul Shelton of High Point, Steve Shelton of Cary; daughters, Polly Hinshaw of Cary, Lee Thomas of Greensboro, Lucy Wilson of Winnsboro, S.C.; brother, Frank Mabe Jr. of Winston-Salem; sisters; Josie Lineberry of Stoneville, Beulah Jackson of Apex, Lillie Miller of Haw River, Maude Glidewell of Greensboro; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Wade Shelton, 101783 Silk Hope-Liberty Road, Liberty.

SILER CITY - Teddy Causey, 64, of 86 W. Shannon Drive, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at his home.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Billy Ray Crisco officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.
He was a native of Horrie County, S.C., was of the Baptist faith and was a self-employed home improvement specialist.
Surviving are wife, Shelby S. Causey of Siler City; sons, Larry Causey, Gary Causey, Teddy Levon Causey, all of Siler City; daughters, Betty Jo Beal, Audrey J. Causey, both of Siler City; mother, Mollie Hardy of Siler City; sisters, Mabel Todd of Siler City, Linda Bowman of Grantville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. Monday.

SILER CITY - Marlene Perry Davis, 69, of 440 Silk Hope Road, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at her home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Silk Hope, where she was a member, with the Rev. Paul Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker and a beautician.
Surviving are husband, H.A. Davis Jr. of Siler City; daughter, Suzanne Davis-Marens of Kernersville; brother, Clyde Reid Perry of Siler City; sisters, Ruth Minor of Ahoskie, Joyce Clark of Greensboro; one grandchild.

She was a native of Chatham County and was retired from Glendale Hosiery.

SILER CITY - Cheryl Phillips Pettit, 42, of 566 Melvin Clark Road, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tyson Creek Baptist Church, Bear Creek, where she was a member, with the Rev. Walter Yoho, the Rev. William Mills and the Rev. Randy Hand officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Chatham County and was retired from Farm Service Agency, Pittsboro, after 14 years.
Surviving are husband, John R. Pettit of Siler City; son, Phillip R. Pettit of Siler City; daughter, Jennifer L. Pettit of Bonlee; father, Billy Joe Phillips of Bear Creek; mother, Edna Cook Phillips of Bear Creek; brothers, Mike Phillips of Ramseur, Bub Phillips, Dennis Phillips, Terry "Tobie" Phillips, all of Bear Creek.

STAR - Gracie Bernice Faulkner, 72, of 327 Freeman St., died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Norman Rest Home.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dover Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Junior Davis and the Rev. Clyde Comer officiating.
She was a native of Moore County and a homemaker.
Surviving is granddaughter, Melinda Ann Faulkner of Star, who was raised by Mrs. Faulkner.
The family will be at the graveside 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.

ROBBINS - Gary Linville Brown, 64, of 260 E. Salisbury St., died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

He was a native of Moore County, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was retired from Joyce Frame Shop, Biscoe.
Surviving are wife, Betty Sanders Brown; daughter, Lucille Gattis of Robbins; sons, Wayne Smith, Damon Smith, Gary Ray Smith, all of Robbins, Garrett L. Brown of Seagrove; sister, Janice B. Garner of Troy; brother, Dexter Brown of Shallotte; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Moore County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Robbins Mills.

ASHEBORO - Lois Carpenter Vestal, 94, of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Clapp's.
Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Franklinville United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Robert E. Dowling and the Rev. David Christy officiating. Burial will be in Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
She was a native of Lincolnton County, a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College, and a retired elementary school teacher. She had served as town clerk for Franklinville, was a past member of the church choir, the Philathea Sunday School Class, and the United Methodist Women at her church, and was on the Resident's Council at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
Surviving are son, William Franklin Vestal of Joelton, Tenn.; daughter, Anne V. Cox of Ramseur; two granddaughters.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Paul D. Routh, and a homemaker. She was a member of the choir, the United Methodist Women and the Community Friends at her church, and was a member of the Millboro Flower Club.
Surviving are daughter, Marie R. Cox of Asheboro; sons, Elmer W. Routh of Randleman, V. Odell Routh of Climax, Johnny L. Routh of Denton, Ralph E. Routh of Asheboro, Sam K. Routh of Franklinville; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

He was born in Guilford County.

ASHEVILLE - Helen Medford Cartwright, 85, formerly of Asheville, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Methodist Church, Asheville, with the Rev. Charles B. Halipilias officiating. Burial will be in Ashlawn Gardens of Memory.
She was a native of Haywood County and the widow of Ralph Cartwright. She had taught special education classes in the Asheville City Schools for 26 years, started the first special education class in the area, and had started a special education class for Sunday school at St. Paul's Methodist Church, where she attended. She was a painter, specializing in watercolors, and was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Surviving are daughters, Talula Elizabeth Cartwright of Asheboro, Julia Ann Cartwright of Asheville; son, Dean Medford Cartwright of Charlottesville, Va.; sister, Anna Robertson of Windermere, Fla.; brother, Wilson C. Medford of Waynesville; five grandchildren.

She was a native of Fayetteville and was employed with Randolph Community College for 20 years.
