Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with the Rev. Barney Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County and a retired employee of Lawrence Earnhardt Builders.
Surviving are wife, Evelyn Miller Earnhardt of the home; sons, Larry Earnhardt of Archdale, Darrell Earnhardt of Denton; daughters, Melissa Kearns, Carolyn Lamar, both of Asheboro, Linda Gregory of Sophia; brothers, Junior Earnhardt, Raymond Earnhardt, both of Trinity; sisters, Mozelle Rich of Asheboro, Claire Routh of Sophia; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

ASHEBORO - Robert Lee Garner, 65, of 5723 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Deep River Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.P. Lippard and the Rev. Bob Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, was retired from Central Telephone Company after 30 years, was a member of the Elks Lodge and he was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are wife, Mozelle Herrin Garner of the home; son, Tony Ray Garner of Asheboro; daughter, Donna G. Smith of Asheboro; brothers, Henry Garner of Ramseur, Charlie Garner of Cherokee; sisters, Clarice McCuistion of Ramseur, Faye Hunt, Dorothy White, both of Asheboro, Judy Cox of Randleman; five grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Flag Springs U.M.C. Cemetery, with the Rev. Billy Jarrett and the Rev. J. Harold Hammond officiating.
Surviving in addition to the parents are grandparents, Phillip "Popeye" and Judy Loggains Williamson, Carol Maner Teal Wright of Franklinville; great-grandparents, Stacy Garner Williamson and Merita Cannon Maner, both of Asheboro.

ARCHDALE - Jacklyn "Jackie" Bean Bailey, 68, of 127 Ashland St., died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cumby Funeral Service, High Point, with the Rev. Carroll M. Upton, the Rev. James C. Smith and the Rev. David Keith officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Pickens, S.C.
She was a native of High Point, the widow of Clayton Merritt Bailey, and a homemaker. She attended First Wesleyan Church and the Mary Carson Sunday School Class, and was in the shut-in ministry.
Surviving are daughters, Dianne Hunt of Sophia, Sharon Rea of Landis, Linda Barnes of Asheboro, Kristie Rampey of Greenville, S.C.; sons, James LaPrad of Randleman, Charles Miller of Greensboro; sister, Margaret Valentine of Harrisburg; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; mother, Louise Easley Bean of the home.

DENTON - Ray "Buck" Floyd Cook, 68, of 122 Varner St., died Friday, March 30, 2001, at VA Medical Center, Salisbury.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. Dan Money officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
He was a native of Davidson County, a U.S. Army veteran, had worked for the Town of Denton and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Denton.
Surviving are daughter, Susan Jermane of Denton; mother, Carrie Cook of Denton; brother, Austin Cook of Denton; sister, Jolene Bray of Burlington; one grandchild.

John C. Wallace
TROY - John C. Wallace, 80, of East Main St., died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Duke Medical Center, Durham.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mike Elliott and the Rev. Stan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
He was a native of Montgomery County, the widower of Tommye S. Wallace, a member and past president of Troy Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and of Rutgers University School of Banking, he was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, a pilot for American Air Lines and was a helicopter pilot. He was a retired president and CEO of the Bank of Montgomery, now First Bank, where he worked for 46 years, and he helped the bank establish Montgomery Data Services and First Recovery. He served as a director and Director Emeritus of the Bank, was a member of the North Carolina Bankers Association and had served as chairman of Group 4. He founded, and owned and operated Radio Station WJRM in Troy, hosted the "Children's Chatter Corner" on the radio and he was a member of Troy Lodge #718 AF & AM. He was a member of Troy Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a former chief for 20 years, and was a former coroner and former acting Sheriff of Montgomery County. In 1992, "John Wallace Day" was proclaimed by the mayor of Troy.
Surviving are wife, Goldie Hancock Wallace of the home; daughters, Susi Norman of Albemarle, Julia Lewis of Wilmington; stepsons, Derek Todd Shea, Kyle Patrick Shea, both of Chapel Hill; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a member WAVES National, a member of First United Methodist Church, had retired from Paschal Associates, and was a member of the Pinewood Country Club Ladies Golfers Association.
Surviving are husband, Doyle Brown of Asheboro; son, Steve Brown of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

She was a native of Hamlet, the widow of Fred Monroe, a member of First Methodist Church in Hamlet, she attended Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro, and was formerly employed with Belks, Inc. in Rockingham.
Surviving are daughter, Kay Meredith Forester of Asheboro; sister, Libby Huey of Bennettsville, S.C.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of Laurie Meredith Leonhardt, 840 Viewmont Drive, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

He was a native of Guilford County, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart medal three times, and he was employed with Basic Furniture Company.

She was a native of Chatham County, a Sunday School teacher and a leader in her church mission's program. She was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College, an elementary school teacher in Randolph, Alamance and Chatham counties and she was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher Sorority.
Surviving are sisters, Lina Straughan of Siler City, Cara Clark of Ramseur, Aline Tate of Burlington.

He was born in Guilford County, attended Seagrove School, was a former homebuilder, auctioneer, and Realtor in Randolph County for 40 years, the owner of Triad Realty and was the former owner of Greene Realty and Auction Company. He served in the Army Reserves, was past president of Asheboro Randolph Home Builders Association, the Seagrove Lions and the Asheboro Randolph Board of Realtors, was a member of the Board of Directors, former member of Asheboro Rotary, and the Board of Directors of Mid State Plastics. He had served on the Board Deacons, was a church trustee, sang in the choir at his church, and was a former member of the Jim Greene Singers and founder of the Gospel Rangers.
Surviving are wife, Betty Sue Brady Greene of Asheboro; son, Dwayne Greene of Wilson; daughters, Annette Walton of Franklinville, Jane Aljets of Asheboro; sisters, Norma Jean Auman, Patsy Baker, Ellen Brewer, all of Asheboro; six grandchildren.
