Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Mike Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Sapona Manufacturing Company, and was a member of Cedar Falls United Methodist Church.

LIBERTY - Joel Dean Stephens, 45, of 8832 Hinshaw Country Road, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his home.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Dunn officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County, was employed by Index Aluminum Company in Burlington and was a former employee of McDonald's in Graham.
Surviving are parents, Edward "Buster" and Mary Frances Fogleman Stephens of Liberty.

THOMASVILLE - Thurman Andrew "Bud" Akins, 55, of 327 W. Main St., died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Thomasville Medical Center.
A private service will be held.
He was a native of Randolph County and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are sisters, Phyllis Stein of Randleman and Wilma Cochran of Haw River.
The family will receive friends at the home of Phyllis Stein, 1710 Wicker Lovell Road, Randleman.

TRINITY - Rev. John Arthur Gray, 84, of GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen AME Zion Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mary Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, was a member of the ministerial staff at his church, was a former United Methodist minister and had pastored at Mitchell Grove in Asheboro, Collins Grove in Guilford College, Holmes Grove in Greensboro, Stouts Chapel, and the Empire Circuit of Randolph County. He was also a self-employed truck driver and lumber mill owner.
Surviving are wife, Mary Winston Gray of Trinity; sons, Arthur Lee Gray of Bronx, N.Y., John C. Gray of Newport News, Va., Duncan C. Gray of Charlotte; daughter, Rachel Brown of Stafford, Va.; sister, Etta Gray Watson of Greensboro; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will be at Haizlip Funeral Home, High Point, 7-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Catherine "Kitty" Brown, 1311 Kimery Drive, High Point.

BENNETT - Beatrice Glover Goins, of 1390 Glovers Church Road, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Glovers United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Chatham County and was retired from Gold Kist Hatchery.
Surviving are son, Floyd Goins Jr. of Randleman; daughters, Faye G. Hoskins, Mary Goins, both of Asheboro, Rachel G. Cheek of Bennett; sisters, Lucille Brower, Sadie Witherspoon, both of Bennett; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

STAR - Wallace Luther Tate, 69, of 118 Edgewood Circle, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Graveside service will be held Thursday at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in Alexander City, Alabama.
He was a native of Alabama and was a retired security person.
Surviving are wife, Jean Macfarlane Tate of Star; brother, Lawrence Irving Tate of Star; sister, Jean Margaret Taylor of Columbus, Ga.; stepdaughters, Carol Knoll of Glen Arbor, Mich., Donna Obcamp of Simi Valley, Calif.

MONROE - Cassie Lillie Mae Stewart Patterson, 91, of 919 Fitzgerald St., formerly of Park St., Asheboro, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Monroe Square Discovery Place in Monroe.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. Boyd Stokes and the Rev. Matthew Burton officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Forsyth County, the widow of Fred Mack Patterson, and a homemaker. She had worked at Lindley Park School and Randolph Hospital, was a Gray Lady volunteer at Randolph Hospital and with the local Red Cross, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Asheboro.
Surviving are daughters, Sarah Garman of Chesapeake, Va., Martha Boaz of Houston, Texas; son, Bob Patterson of Monroe; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

He was a native of Marlboro County, S.C., a World War II and Korean Conflict U.S. Army veteran, and was a lifetime honorary member of VFW Post 4853 of Jourdanton, Texas.
