He was a native of Moore County and a retired sergeant with the N.C. Department of Correction.
Surviving are wife, Betty Morris Talbert; sons, Steve Talbert of Carthage, Tony Talbert of Macclenny, Fla.; daughters, Leanne Simpson of Lobelia, Beverly Talbert of Carthage; brothers, Ed Talbert and David Talbert, both of Southern Pines, Mac Talbert of Lebanon, Tenn.; sisters, June Purves of Southern Pines, Edna Yow of Carthage; 11 grandchildren.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Karen T. Hott, 55, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Northside Hospital.
Services were held March 17 in Seminole, Fla.
She was a native of Knoxville, Tenn., and was a cook at an Adult Living Facility.
Surviving are son, Bryan Rush of Asheboro; daughters, Teresa Symes and Terri Sue Ward, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Edna Mae Winningham Phillips, 79, formerly of South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First E & R United Church of Christ, where she was a member. Burial will be in Browers Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
She was a native of Asheboro and was retired from B.B. Walker Co. She has served on the Randolph County Board of Mental Health, volunteered with Randolph Hospital, was a past president of BPW and received the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service from Governor Jim Hunt.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Wayne D. Oldham, a retired nurse, and was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.

He was a native of Randolph County, a farmer, and had worked for Luther Brothers Sawmill.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a retired sawmill worker and was retired from the City of Asheboro.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Navy veteran, a former Randolph County constable and he retired after 8 1/2 years with the Randleman Police Department.
Surviving are son, Terry Ray McDaniels of Randleman; daughter, Patsy M. Adtkins of Monroe, Mich.; brother, Causey McDaniels of Randleman; sister, Glenda Davis of Thomasville; three grandchildren.
