BISCOE - Lula Mae Tucker Goodwin Johnson, 85, of 2656 N.C. 27/27 West, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Star Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Phil Staton and the Rev. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

She was a native of Stanly County and a retired nursing home aide.

Surviving are daughters, Martha Overton of Eagle Springs, Dorothy Smith of Candor, Patricia Bates of Robbins; sons, Ronnie Goodwin, Bernie Goodwin, Ed Goodwin, all of Biscoe, Freddie Goodwin of Concord; brother, Luin Tucker of Lilesville; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

EAGLE SPRINGS - Joseph H. "Buck" Watson, 71, of 115 Buck Lane, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at his home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins.

Opal H. Trietsch

WHISPERING PINES - Opal Prestina Hale Trietsch, 95, of 51 Pine Lake Drive, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Manorcare Health Services, Pinehurst.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was a native of Henry County, Ind., and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Emma R. Nicholie of Whispering Pines, Jo Ellen Johnson of Redland, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Nance Rush, 93, formerly of 551 Lexington Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.

Fleta Kearns Lewis, 98, of 711 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. William Christopher Thore officiating. Burial will be in Asheboro City Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, John S. Lewis of Asheboro; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jeff Stapleton and the Rev. Charles Stout officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery.

Branson T. Coltrane

ARCHDALE - Branson Thomas Coltrane, 83, of 6979 Branson Meadows Road, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sechrest Funeral Home, Archdale, with the Rev. Ken Day officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Thelma Elder Coltrane, a dairy farmer and a member of Fairfield United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Lois C. Gaddy of Forest, Va., Irene Mosley, Gail Coltrane, both of Archdale; sister, Hazel Kersey of High Point; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

ARCHDALE - Ruth Rumsey Stone, 93, of 5527 Allendale Drive, died Monday, April 27, 1998.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cumby Funeral Home, Archdale, with the Rev. Roger Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Jackson County, Ga., the widow of John Fred Stone, a homemaker and a member of Allen Jay Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunshine Class at the church.

Surviving are son, John Donald Stone of High Point; daughters, Betty Hunt of Asheboro, Freida Cruse, Barbara S. White, both of High Point, Jean Leonard of Archdale; sister, Elzie Suits Dawson of High Point; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Pearl K. Beck

THOMASVILLE - W. Pearl Kindley Beck, 67, of 4325 Old N.C. 29, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Craig Saltzer officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, formerly employed with Anvil Brand and Mr. Apparel and last employed with Carolina Underwear.

Surviving are husband, Arthur Lee "June" Beck Jr. of the home; sons, Arthur L. Beck III, Larry Beck, Steven Beck, all of Thomasville; sisters, Uavah York of Asheboro, Jo Ann Loftin of Thomasville, Judy Kindley of Trinity; brothers, Hubert Kindley of Lexington, Earnest Kindley of Asheboro, Michael Kindley of Trinity; father, Z. Vance Kindley of Trinity; six grandchildren.

The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

SILER CITY - Emma Joyce Logsdon, 58, of 7513 Lanes Mill Road, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. David Mashburn officiating.

She was a native of Hart County, Ky., a retired Registered Nurse and a member of Community Baptist Church.

Surviving are sisters, Shirley A. Logsdon, Ollie L. Joyce, both of Siler City; brothers, Curtis A. Logsdon of Bowling Green, Ky., Russell S. Logsdon of Asheboro, Hurley M. Logsdon, Robert F. Logsdon, both of Bonnieville, Ky.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Linda B. Williams

MT. GILEAD - Linda Brown Williams, 54, of 1166 Wadeville Road, died Monday, April 28, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wadeville Methodist Church, Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Joseph H. Watson

EAGLE SPRINGS - Joseph H. "Buck" Watson, 71, of 115 Buck Lane, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Bible Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Fred Richardson and the Rev. Edgar Singleton officiating. Burial will be 4 p.m. in the Watson Family Cemetery near Elizabethtown.

He was a native of Robeson County and a retired employee of the Town of Robbins Street Department.

Surviving are daughters, Carol McCarn, Mildred Gill, both of Eagle Springs; son, Joseph H. Watson II of Clarksburg, W.Va.; sisters, Doris Collums, Louise McCormick, both of Elizabethtown, Betty Lou Bane of Burgaw, Lou Neil Taylor of Tar Heel, Mary Catherine Harris of Henderson, Dixie Hefner of Prattville, Ala., Minnie Floyd of Bolivar, Mo.; brothers, Franklin Watson Jr., J.C. Watson, both of Henderson, Rufus Watson of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at 160 Buck Lane.

SOUTHERN PINES - Ryan Jrae Smith, infant daughter of Robert Anthony Smith and Vickie Calvine Smith, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Deliverance Church. Burial was in Pinelawn Cemetery.

Surviving in addition to the parents are brothers, Christopher Bernice Smith, Anthony Maurice Smith, Charlie Trevon Smith, all of the home; sister, Keistine D'aShonna Smith of the home; grandparents, Henry McRae, Freddie and Oglatha Kelly and Calvin and Dorothine Brown, all of Southern Pines, Charles Williams of Charlotte.

John Ernest "Uncle" Lane, 77, of 117 Liberty St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at his residence.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church in Liberty, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Edinger and the Rev. Jack Kivett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired manager of L&L Cleaners.

Surviving are wife, Sue Young Lane of the home; sister, Lucille L. Amick of Julian.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur 7-9 p.m. Thursday and other times at the residence.

Thelma Nance Rush, 93, of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at her home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Shepherd United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Arnold Luther and the Rev. Robert Armstrong officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Burlington Industries, a member of Central Wesleyan Church and the widow of Amos Edison Rush.

Surviving are daughter, Hilda Rush Williams of Asheboro; one granddaughter; one great-grandson.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday.

She was a native of Delco and a retired seamstress for Gilead Manufacturing Corp.

Surviving are sons, Joe Lee Crump of Raleigh and Bobby Crump of Biscoe; daughter, Frances Mullen of Hamlet; mother, Ruby Ponte of Hamlet; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Fletcher Waden Sr.

HIGH POINT - Fletcher Waden Sr., 91, of 515 Henry Place, died Friday, April 24, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of God of Prophecy, Stanton Place, where he was a member, with Bishop Floyd Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens.

He was a native of Richland County, S.C., a deacon, pastoral care leader and member of the finance committee of his church, a former member of the State Finance and Appropriations Committee, retired from Melrose Hosiery Mill and Drexel Heritage Showroom, and the widower of Rosa Pickens Waden and Estella M. Bailey Bright Waden.

Surviving are sons, Fletcher N. Waden Jr. of Winston-Salem and James O. Holloway of Canton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 1:30 p.m. Friday and other times at the residence of Betty Hope, 1616 N. Centennial St., High Point.

Linda B. Williams

MT. GILEAD - Linda Brown Williams, 54, of 1166 Wadeville Road, died Monday, April 28, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wadeville Methodist Church, with the Rev. Glenn Hancock and the Rev. John Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Lakeland, Fla., and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Jerry W. Williams of the home; son, Scott Williams of Mt. Gilead; daughter, Laura Long of Asheboro; brother, Michael Brown of Dallas, Texas; sister, Kathy Wheat of Irving, Texas; father, Edgar Brown of Dallas, Texas; three grandsons.

She was a native of Barnes County, North Dakota and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

Surviving are husband, J.C. "Shorty" Underwood of the home; son, Allen Kent Underwood of Asheboro; sisters, Eleanor Kinzer of Mauston, Wis., and Florence Wisel of Seattle, Wash; one granddaughter.
