BISCOE - Myrtle Epley Kennedy, 82, of 196 Shady Lane, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at her home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Main Street Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Russell Craddock officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.
She was a native of Montgomery County and retired from Springs Industries Inc. in Biscoe.
Surviving are daughter, Lowviena Shank of Biscoe; son, Gilbert Epley of Carthage; sister, Lucille Hicks of Troy; brother, Claude Reynolds of Biscoe; stepdaughters, Jean Styles of Ft. Haven, Fla., Maxine Brown of Candor, Violet Epps of Ether, Ramona Atkins of Troy; stepsons, Jerry Kennedy and Larry Kennedy, both of Ft. Myers, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.

BEAR CREEK - William Lee Bain, 92, of 995 Ralph Sipe Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenhill Cemetery, Greensboro, with the Rev. David Hicks officiating.
He was a native of Greensboro, the widower of both Nelle Bowman Bain and Estelle Wicker Bain, retired from Reynolds Tobacco Co., a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Winston-Salem and a member of the N.C. Carolina National Guard.
Surviving are son, James William Bain of Goldston; daughter, Peggy B. Taylor of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

SILVER SPRINGS, Md. - Arianna Jade Merritt, infant daughter of Gene and Laura Merritt of 11703 Grandview Ave., died at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro, with the Rev. Edward Tapper officiating.
Surviving in addition to the parents are twin sister, Jessica Ellowyn Merritt of the home; grandparents, Mary Ann Nixon of Webster, Jon Nixon of Belhaven, Bronna Merritt of Asheboro; great-grandparents, Dr. John Fritz of Hickory, Hilda Vandergrif of Pompano Beach, Fla., Grace Robbins and Ruby Merritt, both of Asheboro.

THOMASVILLE - Willard Theodore Thompson, 86, of Decker Road, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Thomasville Medical Center.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church, where he was a member, with Dr. E. Keith Carroll, the Rev. Carol Upton and the Rev. Leon Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was retired from Woodmark Originals, repaired sewing machines, and served on the church board and was Sunday school superintendent for 17 years at his church.
Surviving are wife, Fannie Hughes Thompson of the home; sons, Willard E. Thompson of Ramseur, Earl Thompson of Thomasville, Roger Thompson of Jacksonville Fla.; daughters, Jane Dockery of Denton, Wanda Hughes of Lexington, Linda Thornburg of Thomasville; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Patrick County, Va., attended Harmony Baptist Church in Ramseur, and had retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery.
Surviving are husband, M. Leonard Gunter of Asheboro; daughters, Sonja Allred Still of Pleasant Garden, Linda Thomas Moran of Raleigh; son, John Gunter of Asheboro; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of First Baptist Church, Liberty, and was a homemaker.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Battleground Civitan Club and was a retired corporate financial director.

She was a native of Davidson County, a youth counselor and member of the Pastor Parrish Relations Committee at her church and Community Association Manager of Uwharrie Point Community Association. She was certified as a manager of community associations and as an association management specialist, she was a real estate broker, a past president of Denton Elementary PTO and a South Davidson High School mentor. She was a former board member of the South Davidson Family Resource Center, a 1979 graduate of Denton High School and a 1981 graduate of Davidson County Community College with an associate degree in business.
Surviving are husband, Scott S. Morris of the home; son, Travis Scott Morris of the home; daughter, Candace Alexandria Morris of the home; mother, Susan K. Garner of Denton; sisters, Shawn G. Talent of Denton, Christi G. Swing of Lexington.

He was a native of Montgomery County, the widower of Lucille Russell Kearns, retired owner and operator of Kearns Grocery in Pee Dee, a car salesman with Montgomery Motors in Troy, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a toy collector.
Surviving are son, James Harold Kearns of Clemmons; stepbrother, Jack Kearns of Badin; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
