SEAGROVE - Henry Martin Brewer, 60, of 1675 Dover Church Road, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Dover Baptist Church, with Dr. Don Davis and the Rev. David Beck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, a member of Bascom Chapel UMC and a self-employed sawmill owner.

Surviving are wife, Hope Brinkley Brewer of the home; son, Henry Martin "Hank" Brewer II of the home; mother, Nannie Dunlap Brewer Rollins of Seagrove; brothers, John Franklin Brewer of Oxford, Robert Daniel Brewer of Greensboro.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of the mother, 688 Willie Road, Seagrove.

RAMSEUR - Mary Ingold Vickers, 80, of 151 King Road, Apt. 4-A., died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Franklinville Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. James Laws, the Rev. Carlos King and the Rev. Danny Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Cross Christian Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a retired employee of Klopman Mills Central Falls plant and was of the Holiness faith.

Surviving are daughter, Wanda Cleckler of Brookhaven, Mass.; sons, Jerry Vickers, Bob Vickers, Doug Vickers, all of Ramseur; brothers, Wayland Ingold of Sophia, Edward Ingold of Randleman; sisters, Lucille Brady of Randleman, Ruby Roddy of Asheboro, Rador Davis of Ramseur; stepdaughter, Jackie Eckenroth of Redding, Pa.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 6-8 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Bob Vickers, Randolph Hills, Apt. 4-B.

SILER CITY - Marcus J. Glover, 97, of 901 N. Glenn Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Thomasville.

He was a native of Davidson County, a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Thomasville, where he was a former deacon and Sunday School superintendent, and retired from Thomasville Furniture.

Surviving are daughter, Barbara G. Meadows of Siler City; sister, Vernia G. Hulin of Denton; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters.

LEXINGTON - A. Victor "Vic" Kirkman Sr., 88, of Greenway Drive, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

He was a native of Davidson County, a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Embalming, and former co-owner, manager and secretary/treasurer of Davidson Funeral Home. He was a charter member of Memorial Masonic Lodge #696, a charter member and past President of the Lexington Exchange Club, a member of the N.C. Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association and a licensed director and embalmer.

Surviving are wife, Maria Beck Kirkman of the home; son, Dr. A. Victor Kirkman Jr. of Charlotte; brother, R. O. Kirkman Jr. of Lexington; two grandchildren.

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Clyde Brown, retired owner and operator of Brown's Store and a member of Pine Mountain Friends Meeting.

Surviving are brothers, Randall Powers of Asheboro, Ralph Powers of Martin, Ga.; sisters, Carene Yow of Franklinville, Ruth Hussey of Robbins.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Ruth Hussey, 2181 N. Howards Mill Road, Robbins.

COLERIDGE - June Rufus Whitehead, 92, of 4705 N.C. 22 S., died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Concord United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Vonnie Vredenburg and Dr. Ron Wachs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and retired from Acme-McCrary.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Arlen Cheek of the home; daughters, Phyliss Huff of Asheboro, Diane Cheek of Lumberton, Frankie Paige of Chesterfield, Iowa, Tonette Fletcher of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Richard Cheek of Charlotte, Randy Cheek of the home, Wayne Cheek of Liberty, Reginald Cheek of Fayetteville, Nolan Cheek of Asheboro; sisters, Flossie Brooks of Siler City, Blanche Robinson of Richmond, Va.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, from 6-7 p.m. Sunday.

SILER CITY - Edna Oates Edwards, 79, of 900 W. Dolphin St., died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at SunBridge Care Facilities in Siler City.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Providence United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Warren Owens officiating. Burial will be in Oakley Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and retired from A. J. Schneirson as a quality control inspector.

Surviving are daughter, Mollie E. Badders of Siler City; brothers, John Oates, Fred Oates, both of Greensboro, Vernon Oates of Bennett; sister, Dorothy Cox of Greensboro; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.

Irene P. Cockman
CARTHAGE - Irene Patterson Cockman, 83, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. William Hancock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and the widow of Charles Walter Cockman.

Surviving are daughters, Judy C. Wilson of Vass, Jennie C. Phillips of Carthage; sons, Larry Cockman of Southern Pines, Rusty Cockman of Raeford; sister, Alberta Norton of Carthage; brother, Floyd Patterson of Carthage; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at 4808 N.C. 22 Highfalls Road and at the church after the service.

MT. GILEAD - Arnie M. Harris, of 970 Alvin Harris Road, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center in Albemarle.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. David Kime and the Rev. Gary McNeil officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County, retired from Jordan Lumber Co. in Mt. Gilead, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Betty Harris of the Lutheran Home in Albemarle; sons, Curtis Harris, Carl Harris, Bobby Harris, all of Mt. Gilead, James Harris of Norwood; daughters, Jean H. Hudson of Mt. Gilead, Ellen H. Burris of Norwood, Arlene H. McFayden of Ellerbe; sister, Agnes Marsh of Lilesville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church after the service.

MIDWAY PARK - John Harris Kelley, 74, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.

Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Monday at Enon Chapel Baptist Church in Midway Park, with the Rev. Darby Worrell, the Rev. Tony Hardin and the Rev. Mike Schwalm officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, Wednesday at 11 a.m.

He was the widower of Anna Lee Kelley, retired from Western Auto Stores and was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.

Surviving are son, the Rev. James Kelley of Jacksonville; sister, Frances Lobeau of Florida.

Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Delores Baldwin
ASHEBORO - Delores Baldwin, 404 N. Elm St., Asheboro, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Gailes Funeral Home, Asheboro.

She attended Central High School.

Surviving are son, Ronald Edward Baldwin of Asheboro; sister, Shirley Baldwin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; brothers, James Baldwin, Junior Baldwin, Andrew Baldwin, all of Asheboro, Roosevelt Baldwin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

ASHEBORO - Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Kennedy, 41, of 4661 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Lee Green and the Rev. Gary Reeder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a 1979 graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School, a former employee of Eveready Battery Co. and owner of Kennedy Plant Nursery.

Surviving are wife, Christy Kennedy; mother and stepfather, Ozell K. and Henry Callicutt of Asheboro; sisters, Patsy Thompson, Debbie Law, Gail Francisco, all of Asheboro; brothers, J.C. Coble of High Point, Larry Coble of Seagrove.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Ramtex after 33 years of service and attended Oakwood Park Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Ruth Mason Bray; sons, Barry Bray of Spartanburg, S.C., Randy Bray of Asheboro, Phil Bray of Winston-Salem; sisters, Pearl Huggins, Florence Cheek, both of Asheboro, Bessie Trogdon of Franklinton; brother, Bobby Bray of Asheboro; five grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Sarah Barber Reid, 78, of 1959 Taylors Creek Drive, Asheboro, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Gerald Ward officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Malboro County, S.C., retired from Klopman Mills after 30 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are son, Ronnie Reid of Ramseur; daughter, Barbara R. Maness of Asheboro; sisters, Mary Frye of Asheboro, Alma Fields of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Lena W. Flinchum
JULIAN - Lena Ruth Whitaker Flinchum, 84, of 2235 N.C. 62 East, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Union United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dave Cash and the Rev. Clyde Faulkner officiating. Burial will be in Gilmore Memorial Park.

She was a native of Surry County, the widow of the late Vester H. Flinchum, a farmer and a former employee at Wee Socks in Randleman, Liberty Hosiery Mill and Banner-Trulove Wholesale Grocery. She attended Pleasant Union United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Jean F. Clapp, Patricia F. Shoffner, both of Julian; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

KILEEN, Texas - Kenneth Earl Robinson, 40, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Funeral service will be Friday in Kileen, Texas.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a heavy equipment mechanic in the National Guard.

Surviving are sons, Ajalon Jamel Robinson, Octavian Demetrius Townsend, both of Texas, Sir Curtis Townsend of Colorado; father, Bradis Robinson of Florida; brother, Willie James Robinson of Asheboro; sister, Patricia Robinson of Asheboro; numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters.

He was a native of Randolph County and owner and operator of Carmac Auto Service.

Surviving are wife, Doris Greene Carmac of the home; son, Keith Carmac of Ramseur; brothers, Oris Carmac, Buck Carmac, both of Ramseur; sisters, Helen Lawson of Ramseur, Martitia Cox of Winston-Salem, Ada Carmac of Siler City.

RANDLEMAN - Linda Faye Coble, 52, of 2051 William Penn Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church in Asheboro. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary City Cemetery.

Surviving are daughter, Wonnetta Houston of the home; mother, Erna Mae Coble of Snow Camp; sister, Helen Matthews of Siler City; one grandson.
