He was a native of Davidson County, retired from Burlington Industries, a farmer, and attended Canaan United Methodist Church.

She was a native of Bladen County, a member of Sardis United Methodist Church, the widow of Jesse Leonard Greene and Faye Greene, a retired employee of United Mills and was a homemaker.
Surviving are daughters, Joyce Freeman of Candor, Linda Wilson of Troy, Peggy Rhodes of Pfafftown, Elizabeth Hendrix of Portsmouth, Va.; sons, Vaughn Greene of Charlotte, David Greene of Candor, Bobby L. Greene, Edward Greene, both Mt. Gilead; brother, Paige Harris of Troy; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
