WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Howard Thomas Wright Sr., 75, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001.
A private service will be held.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years, was past president of the N.A.L.C., a volunteer for the Parker Ridge Neighborhood Association, and served on the Civil Service Board of Palm Beach County.
Surviving are wife, Helen C. Wright of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sons, Howard T. Wright Jr. of Ft. Myers, Fla., Andrew Lee Wright of Franklinville; daughter, Barbara W. Huffman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brothers, Doug Wright of Ramseur, James Wright of Franklinville; sister, Marylee Young of Asheboro; five grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Leona Margaree Spencer McLaughlin, 88, of 3155 Happy Hollow Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at Randolph Hospital Inc., Asheboro.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Flag Springs United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Boyd Byerly officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Levy Dell McLaughlin, retired from Acme-McCrary Corp., had worked at Mid State Plastics, Cross Road Rest & Retirement Center, and Randolph Hospital and attended Flag Springs United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Aleta Welch of Asheboro; sons, Tolley McLaughlin of Franklinville, Durward McLaughlin, Levy Delton McLaughlin, Kevan McLaughlin, all of Asheboro; sister, Bertha Hawkins of Taylorsville; brother, Kenneth Spencer of Asheboro; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

FRANKLINVILLE - Herman Frankie Walker Jr., 47, of 3942 Old Liberty Road, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. John Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Cool Springs Baptist Church cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, of the Baptist faith and was owner/operator of Walker Repair of Franklinville.
Surviving are wife, Sharon Branning Walker of the home; daughters, Melody Ruth Walker, Michelle Lynn Walker, both of the home; son, Herman "Bo" Frankie Walker, III of the home; sisters, Milinda Johnston of Siler City, Ann Walker, Ellen Varner, and Ida Groce, all of Franklinville.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of John Ambrose Black, a homemaker and attended Free Grace Mission.
Surviving are daughter, Bonnie Baker of Trinity; sons, William J. "Bill" Black, Robert "Bob" Black, both of Asheboro; brother, Joseph Kinley of Trinity; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild.

She was a native of Orange County, a member of First Baptist Church and a homemaker.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Denton AMVET Post #240, was self-employed in furniture sales and was of the Wesleyan faith.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from G.E. Corp. after 31 years, and served as a board member and Sunday School teacher at his church. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a member of the VFW and a member of the Good Times Band.
Surviving are wife, Luet Richardson Cranford of the home; sons, Ronnie Cranford and Tim Cranford, both of Ramseur; sisters, Margaret Cranford of Haw River, Frankie Honeycutt of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren.
