Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carthage Church of God, with the Rev. Charles Goins, the Rev. Curtis Teague and J.L. Garner officiating. Burial will be in Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Robbins.
He was a native of Harnett County and worked for Carolina Freightways in Greensboro.
Surviving are daughters, Nancy Wilson of Seagrove, Betty Hucks of Archdale; brother, Arthur Seawell of Greensboro; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren.

JACKSON SPRINGS - John Thomas Carter, 75, of 2315 Hoffman Road, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Deep Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Oscar Logwood and the Rev. Brent Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Moore County, retired from Moore County Schools and a cabinet builder.
Surviving are wife, Mabel H. Carter of the home; daughters, Gail McBride of Derby, Barbara Brower of Aberdeen; son, Tommy Carter of Jackson Springs; brothers, Roy A. Carter of West End, Carlton Carter of Jackson Springs; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

HENDERSON - Archie Leondus Usher Jr., 74, of 140 Watson Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham.

He was a native of Columbus County, a retired principal of Epson School, a member of the University of North Carolina Alumni Association, a U.S. Navy veteran and he attended Central Baptist Church.
Surviving are wife, Frances Davis Usher; daughter, Cary U. Forsythe of Prince Frederick, Md.; son, David L. Usher of Manson; sister, Charlotte U. Gardner of Burlington; brother, Griff Usher of Thomasville; four grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Tracy George Lucas Sr., 91, of 126 S. McCrary St., Asheboro, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Oaklawn Cemetery, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County, a member of First Baptist Church and retired from Lucas Furniture Industries after 50 years.
Surviving are wife, Florence Mason Lucas of Asheboro; son, Tracy George Lucas Jr. of Asheboro; daughter, Barbara Lucas Lassiter of Asheboro; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren.
