ASHEBORO - Lucille Sechrest Aldridge, 86, of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Jesse Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Asheboro, the widow of Herbert E. Aldridge, a graduate of Trinity High School and a former member of the Randolph Ramblers.

Surviving are daughter, Donna Williams of Appalachia, Va.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Elizabeth E. Johnson
ASHEBORO - Elizabeth Elmore "Zeb" Johnson, 88, of 4455 Old N.C. 49, Asheboro, died Wednesday Oct. 31, 2001, at Senior Citizens Home, Henderson.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Science Hill Friends Meeting, where she was a member, with the Rev. Allen Bullard and the Rev. Brady Morrison officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the widow of James Johnson and employed by Randolph Hospital for 30 years.

Surviving are son, Jim Johnson of Henderson; sisters, Peggy Cates, Gladys Moore, both of Greensboro, Jean Horner of Raleigh, Frances Corey of Gaffney, S.C., Edna Monnik of Pretoria, South Africa; brothers, Max Elmore of Gibsonville, Richard Elmore of Sanford, Fla., Jim Elmore of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

HIGH POINT - Mary Lula Fife, 66, of 106 Hodgin St., died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Greenville, S.C., retired from Cecland Yarn and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Surviving are husband, Robert Curtis Fife of the home; daughter, Shelia Lavone Hacker of Mt. Holly; sons, Robert Curtis Fife Jr. of Mt. Holly, Kenneth Lee Fife of Lexington, Billy Gene Fife of the home; sister, Chrystle Deweese of Thomasville; brothers, Lonnie Bryant of Asheboro, Andy Paul Bryant Jr. of Lexington; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Mt. Gilead - Catherine Farlow Andrews, 88, of 6552 Grassy Island Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead, with the Rev. Jim Harris and the Rev. Neil Cagle officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of T. Curtis Andrews, a graduate of Randleman High School and High Point University, with a degree in Home Economics and had taught school in Guilford, Montgomery and Richmond counties.

Surviving are daughter, Christine Andrews of Winston-Salem; sons, Grant Andrews, Keith Andrews, both of Mt. Gilead; sister, Cecelia F. Cagle of Benson; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Hilton L. Maness
TROY - Hilton Leach Maness, 79, of 2725 N.C. 109 N., died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Wesleyan Church, Troy, where he was a member, with the Rev. Douglas Beadle officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill UMC Cemetery, Robbins.

He was a native of Montgomery County, the widower of Margie Maness, a graduate of Troy High School, attended Pfeiffer College, and was a graduate of Catawba College. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, awarded the Bronze Star, taught in Montgomery County Schools for 32 years and was a member of the West Montgomery Lions Club.

Surviving are daughters, Debra Maness of Greensboro, Kay Crouse of Lexington; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Perry Hunt
ASHEBORO - J. Perry Hunt, of 151 Hampton Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh and the Rev. Wade Craven officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County, a radio broadcaster with WGWR for 25 years, received the Mr. DJ USA award, operated Perry Dance Land for 20 years, was a member of Benevolent Protective Order of the Elk, receiving the Elk of the Year award in 1976 and was a charter member of the Asheboro Chapter of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Surviving are sister, Loree Smith of Asheboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Surviving are son, Roy Clifton Kivett Jr. of Liberty; parents, Clarence M. and Odelia Palmer Hinshaw of Liberty; sister, Linda Fogleman of Liberty.

TROY - David "Ryan" Royal, 21, of 715 Carson St., died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in Marion, S.C.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Troy, where he was a member, with the Rev. Raleigh Cestelloe and Todd Blake officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Mt. Gilead.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a 1998 graduate of West Montgomery High School, attended Montgomery Community College and was a salesman for Capel Retail Outlet.

Surviving are parents, Kay Robinson Royal of the home and David Royal of Gastonia; brother, Chris Royal of Macclesfield; grandparents, Bernard and Maxine Robinson and John and Margie Royal, all of Troy.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home and 420 Eldorado St.

BEAR CREEK - John Raymond Elkins Sr., 87, of 6854 Pittsboro-Goldston Road, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Clark Davis and the Rev. Val Chadwick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, a self-employed saw mill operator and a former deacon at his church.

Surviving are wife, Mattie Oldham Elkins of the home; son, Raymond Elkins Jr. of New Hill; daughter, Kay E. Rose of Bear Creek; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was a native of Person County, the widow of William M. Allen, retired from Burlington Industries and attended New Zion Church of Seagrove.

Surviving are daughters, Mary A. Phillips of Asheboro, Virginia Paysour of Shelby; sons, Clinton Allen, R. Larry Allen, Jerry D. Allen, all of Asheboro; sister, Lillie M. Gentry of Roxboro; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Mary Phillips, 1047 Old Forest Court, Asheboro.

RAMSEUR - Allie Wilson Johnson, 53, of 4123 W. Jones St., died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Patterson Grove Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dan Neely and the Rev. Eddie Hill officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and had been employed with March Furniture.

Surviving are half brother, Herman Johnson of Pittsboro.

Jerre R. Lett
BENNETT - Jerre Sue Routh Lett, 63, of 1889 Berkley Lane, Asheboro, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at SunBridge Care.

Private graveside service will be held Saturday at Bennett Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Tim Strider and the Rev. Jack Clark officiating.

She was a native of Chatham County and a retired license examiner for the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

Surviving are husband, Ralph D. Lett of the home; son, R. Wayne Lett of Huntersville; mother, Sue Phillips Routh of Bennett; sister, Jane Torbet of Charlotte.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday.

He was a native of Davidson County.

ASHEBORO - Kathleen Ward, 92, of 230 E. Presnell St., Asheboro, formerly of Worthville, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

She was a native of Worthville and a member of Worthville United Methodist Church.

She was a native of Chatham County, an Avon salesperson, a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church and the Adult Senior Sunday School Class.

John W. Curtis Jr.
LIBERTY - John W. Curtis Jr., 81, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Bryan Fox officiating.

He was a native of Liberty, a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1941, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, and operated the Curtis Theatre and the Siler City Drive-in for over 40 years. He served as mayor of Liberty from 1981-1985 and was a member and trustee at First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are wife, May Vestal Curtis of the home; sons, John W. Curtis III of Hattiesburg, Miss., James L. Curtis of Aspen, Colo.; sister, Cladora Fogleman of Liberty; two grandsons.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

James W. Varner
TROY - James Wilton Varner, 87, of 460 Shiloh Road, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at the home of his daughter.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Love Joy United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Ethel Saunders officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County a sawmill worker and attended Gospel Light Baptist Church.

Surviving are son, James Wilton Varner Jr. of Troy; daughters, Jean Deboise of Pisgah, Hazel Sneed of Linwood, Faye Welch, Lois Varner, both of Troy; sister, Josie Honeycutt of Stanfield; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Troy, from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of a daughter, 707 Dennis St., Troy.

Wallace N. Moore
BEAR CREEK - Wallace Newell Moore, 78, of 995 Vernie Phillips Road, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at UNC Chapel Hill Hospitals.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Church of Living Water, Siler City, with the Rev. James Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, self-employed owner/operator of a sawmill and attended the Church of Living Water.

Surviving are wife, Virginia Burns Moore of the home; sons, Baxter Moore of Bennett, son, David Moore of the home; stepson, Roger Clark of Bear Creek; stepdaughters, Clarissa Mitchell of Coleridge, Debbie Nunnery of Bear Creek; daughters, Virginia Ann Pilarski, Darlene Horton, both of Coleridge, Lisa Ayers of Bennett, Laura Hicks of Ramseur; half brother, Max Burns of Bear Creek; half sisters, Cristel B. Miller, Joyce A. Burns, both of Raleigh; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
