SILER CITY - Wayne M. Bish, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at his home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joe Casteel officiating.
He was a native of Frostburg, Pa., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he received three Bronze Stars, and owner and operator of Bish Scrap Metal Co. He was a charter member of the Chatham County Wildlife Club, a member of the Siler City Lions Club and the Rotary Club, on the board of directors of Chatham Trades Inc. and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are wife, Lucille Ellington Bish; daughter, Sandy B. McSween; brother, Harold W. Bish; one granddaughter.
The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

COLLINSVILLE, Va. - Peggy King Freeman, 66, of 1521 Daniels Creek Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of M/HC.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Collinsville Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. K. R. Leonard, the Rev. Lawrence Snead and the Rev. Aubrey Dooley officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville, Va.
She was a native of Randolph County.
Surviving are husband, the Rev. Tracy Freeman of the home; daughter, Kimberly F. Small of New Zealand; sisters, Ruby Nell Cooper and Joyce Lemonds, both of Asheboro; brother, James I. King of Kenansville; four grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Maude Lamb Cook, 91, of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, formerly of Walker Store Road, Franklinville, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Clapp's.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Whites Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jeff Joyce and the Rev. Pete Lamb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of W.H. "Bill" Cook and a member of the Senior Citizens Group at her church.
Surviving are sons, Jessie Cook of Holly Ridge, Billy Cook of Franklinville, Jimmy Cook of Central Falls; daughter, Nancy C. Williams of Great Mills, Md.; sister, Ruth Lineberry of Franklinville; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Josephine Ewing, 77, of 446 Glovinia St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare/Starmont in Greensboro.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Zion Holy Church, with Elder Dean Staley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvery Cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County and a retired teacher of the New York School System.
There are no immediate survivors.
The family will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

She was a native of Randolph County and of the Methodist faith.

She was a native of Rock Island, Ill., the widow of Sam Meanor and a former employee with Guilford County Child Nutrition.

SILER CITY - Arthur Nettles of 157 Glosson Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at the VA Hospital in Durham.
Funeral service will be 3 p m. Sunday at Gees Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Allen Moore officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.
He was a native of Chatham County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a retired employee of Siler City Mills, a member of the male chorus at his church and a member of American Legion Post #283 in Pittsboro.
Surviving are daughter, Phyllis AIston of Siler City; sons, Michael Nettles of Lanham, Md., Marty Nettles of Holly Springs; brother, Ernest Nettles of Warren, Ohio; sister, Stella Price of Siler City; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, the widower of Elizabeth Anderson, a member of Westlake United Methodist Church in Westlake, Ohio, was retired from Sterling Die in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a Randolph County Senior Olympian.
