Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Junior Dawkins, the Rev. Alvin Powell and the Rev. Danny Jarrell officiating. Burial will be in High Pine Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
She was a native of Stokes County and retired from Acme-McCrary.
Surviving are daughters, Ruth Earline Powell of Sophia, Melba Sue Chriscoe of Conway, S.C.; son, Danny Ray Luther of the home; sisters, Ann Geraldine Varner of Asheboro, Betty Jean Luther of Gainesville, Fla.; brothers, Charles L. Clifton of Asheboro, Kenneth Clifton of Tampa, Fla., Tommy Clifton of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home and at the home of Ruth Powell, 1530 Beech Tree Court, Sophia.

Murdew F. Waters
ASHEBORO - Murdew F. Waters of 830 Cool Springs St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. W. Russell Ward Jr. and the Rev. William Leist officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Magnolia, a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and on the finance committee, and a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and received the Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Asheboro Lions Club, a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, a member of the Asheboro Masonic Lodge #699, a former salesman for B.B. Walker Shoe Co., the former president of B.B & W.W. Inc. and was a former co-owner and manager of the Suit Outlet of Asheboro.
Surviving are wife, Bobbie B. Waters; daughter, Judy Abrams of Raleigh; stepdaughter, Deborah Honea Hunt of Raleigh; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Friday.

RAMSEUR - Aldie M. Hunter, 89, of 1850 N.C. 22 South, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at his home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Tom Hill officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Surry County, a retired farmer, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, attended Harmony Baptist Church and was a former member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
Surviving are son, Jimmy R. Hunter of Riverside, Calif.; daughter, Lottie Hill of Ramseur; half brothers, Howard Hunter of Pilot Mountain, Charlie Hunter of Dobson; half sisters, Ruby Wilson of Mt. Airy, Shelby Ferguson of King; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker and attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

She was a native of Alamance County, the widow of James Lacy Thomas Sr. and a member of Graham Bible Fellowship.

He was a native of Baileysville, W.Va., a welder and front-end loader in the construction industry and was of the Baptist faith.

She was a native of Fairmont, the widow of Wayne Surratt and retired from Davidson Community College. She was a member of Thomasville Eastern Star, a member of the Elks Lodge and a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Surviving are daughters, Sheena Surratt of the home, Salle Wallace of Welcome; son, Howard Terry of Thomasville; sisters, Barbara Gotte of High Point, Lib Sexton of Asheboro; brother, Sonny Floyd of Durham; five grandchildren; one stepgrandchild.

He was a native of Cleveland County, retired as the commissary manager at Cleveland Cloth Mill and was a member of the Cleveland County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are wife, Stella Wright Sellers of the home; son, Loy Sellers of Asheboro; daughter, Brenda Roberts of Lincolnton; three grandchildren.
